I have to admit I expected more.. I expected it to be bigger and for the flowers to be sort of like the fruit displays at the Royal Easter show.. but.. the flowers are spectacular. There are lots of stalls for browsing and looking at stuff, in general they were overpriced market stalls, but in some cases there was a good deal to be found.

These markets have a lot of great stuff, lot's of unusual things like hats with chickens on them. The food is great and reasonably priced. What I really liked is the fact that all the food places invited the kids to taste, I have been places where they are not very nice to kids. And it paid off because if the kids like it.. you tend to buy it. It is well set out, lots of room to move, not too crowded and as I said a huge variety of stuff. Would definately recommend a visit when your in Canberra.

Well a great place to see the history of telecom, the kids asked me how you would make a call on a phone that had a dial? They seriously had never seen one and couldn't understand how it would work :-) When I explained it they said - wow that would take ages.. The views are fantastic, you can see all of Canberra and all the main attractions. It would have been helpful if they showed you a picture of what the attraction looked like becasue you look out the window, it tells you what you can see from that window, but unless you already know what it looks like you have no idea what you should be looking at. I also think it was a bit expensive for what it was, and a family ticket only included 2 children

OK this may not be for everyone, but I found it very interesting, and beautiful and stunning. It is free, you get free guided tours and they had some amazing art works on display. The cabinet wasn't sitting when we were there but apparently anyone can go in and watch.. now that would have been interesting. They also have a great cafe with reasonable prices. The scenery is beautiful, looking down from Parliament house down through to old Parliament house and then the War memorial. I undertsand this is not everyone's cup of tea, and the younger kids were bored, but I enjoyed it.

This is a must if your are visiting Canberra, but you probably already know that. We had children from 9 to 16 and they all had a wonderful time.. and I must say the adults did to. And to top it off, they serve great coffee in the cafe :-)

Approximate cost: $70 family ticket, includes 3 children

We went to see Floriade in Canberra last weekend, which was great by the way. We had 3 families so were looking for cabins in a reasonably priced facility. We have gone away a lot and stayed in this type of accommodation. This place is all concrete, many, many, many cabins in rows. The interior of the cabins need a lot of improvement because for example, our cabin had big burn marks on the inside table, my friends has a terrible dirty looking stain in the bottom of the bathroom sink (yuk) and we all had pieces of broken furniture, fixtures and fittings, our fridge had no shelves in the door as they were all broken. We stayed in the two bedroom Gavillia cabins.. but.. saying that, we were comfortable. We were out most of the time, so in that respect it was ok. BUT they have a fabulous cafe and wonderful breakfasts and dinners all very reasonably priced. I had lobster for dinner!!!. A great take away menu so you don't have to go far for dinner. They also have a bar but we didnt use that so no idea of what the prices were. The service was fantastic. The staff very, very friendly and very helpful.

Approximate cost: $157 per night for 2 adults

I am a bit torn with my "service" score, because the staff are wonderful and friendly and our food came out before we even got comfortable in our chairs but our coffee and drinks took about 45 minutes, way after we had finished our delicious meals, so I probably should have scored them lower.. but you do have to take everything into account. It was on Monday, the first day of the school holidays, I went for breakfast with my daughter. It was a glorious sunny day. This place is right on the Sea Plane Wharf at Palm beach, next to the golf course, and when it took forever for the drinks and coffee to come out the excuse was.. we didn't expect it to be so busy so we are under staffed in teh drinks section... what??? It is a glorious day on the first day of the school holidays. What made the management think it woudn't be busy??? Anyway, The food was fantastic and very quick and the atmosphere beautiful.

We are re-doing our garden, getting rid of tree's that are just too old and generally sprucing it up for spring and the coming years. Introducing a lot more flowering, and edible plants into the mix, as well as some hardy natives. We went to Flower Power and were looking around at Lemon Tree's and this wonderful lady asked us if we wanted any help. Well, she was fantastic. Listened to everything we wanted, asked lot's of questions and gave fantastic advice. The service we received was second to none. Plus, we have introduced some big planter boxes so that we can raise the level of the soil to promote easy drainage (we have a base of clay), so Flower Power lent us a free trailer. They didn't have any of the garden mix the lady recommended so they called the Terrey Hills store and found they had some. So the day was fabulous, and we got more advice than we can possibly remember. But she said that at anytime if we are not sure we can come back and discuss, or simply call them and they will be happy to help us over the phone. I was also looking for some local wattle to put in the garden and she advised us that wattle don't grow well in pots that is why it's hard to find them in nurseries. They had one variety but it didnt suit what we wanted so she recommended another two places close by that specialised in the Native Plants. Well, I will certainly go back again and again to this place. Not only is it a pleasure to look at and wonder through, but the advice is so helpful and really genuin.

I initially bought one full kit from these guys and was so impressed I have since bought 2 more, one for my uncle and one for the backyard. The hose is really long, never kinks or leaks, very easy to manage when it comes to putting the hose away. I must say it is quite heavy when you are taking the hose out. I have it screwed to a brick wall, I think you really have to do that and make sure it is secured well. I pull as much hose out as I think I need and I do have to use two hands, and I am not a weakling.. so I really don't think it would be suitable for older people. I think it would just be too hard to pull the hose out.. BUT.. saying that, I don't think I would ever buy a different hose and from my experience so far (has been quite a few years since I bought the hoses), I probably won't need to replace this one, so that is the reason for my high "value" rating

What a wonderful and quirky shop this is, from antique looking goods to very good quality second hand newer furntiture to classy cloth napkins to funny little treasures. I love browsing this place, always something new and all very well presented. Well done ladies, I hope you do well and stay for a very long time.
