Chocolate Buddha is conveniently located in Federation Square and is a great place to catch up with friends for a casual meal. The menu includes gluten free products. Free range organic eggs, beef and organically farmed chicken also feature on the extensive Japanese menu. I have eaten there several times. You can eat outside if youlike. Last time I was there I enjoyed Grilled Shake (salmon served with okra and rice). It was exquisite, but simple meal. However, more exotic dishes are available, including freshly rolled hand rolls. Coffee is excellent, as is the chai. Do visit their website so you can see if the menu and prices appeal to you.

Green Field is a delight. The lunch menus are particularly good value. The extensive menu includes a number of popular Vietnamese dishes, so if you like Vietnamese food and are around Sydney Road, definately pop in as try out the food. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, but not formal. The staff are friendly and very obliging. Green Field also has take away. Whatever you try there, you will not be disappointed.

I have been to Petaling Street twice now. Petaling Street is located in the old La Porchetta restaurant and it is open 7 days, 11:00am - LATE. There are also branches in Hawthorn and Glen Waverley. The menu offers a wide selection of Malaysian style foods. Petaling Street in Box Hill is a bustling and busy place. It is ideal for a quick meal, or you can happily linger and chat. I tried the Traditional Malaysian Roast Chicken with rice. The chicken is beautifully cooked, crispy on the outside and the meat is succulent and juicy, with a touch of Chinese spice. The chicken is served with cucumber and coriander, plus and two sambals: one is chilli and the other garlic. Hot tea is served in a bottomless cup. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to tell you about the many dishes available. On a previous visit I tried the Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and I can highly recommend that if you like spicy fried rice. Next time I go to Petaling Street I'd like to try the Claypot Ginger Duck. Great for an inexpensive meal out or a place to go with a group, so you can get to try more of the dishes. I'd recommend booking on Friday nights or at weekends.

Next time you are trawling around Puckle Street Moonee Ponds and you like Italian food, and in particular risotto, give Vicolo in Young Street a try. I have been there several times for lunch and loved the risotto. Last time I had mushroom risotto. It was excellent: rich flavour, robust: not too watery. Coffee first rate too. Wonderful staff, helpful, attentive and polite. Suggest booking if lunching late in the week.

If you need someone to care for your feet Box Hill Foot Clinic is worth a try. I have been a patient of Kaminthia for a number of years and she has worked miracles with my feet. She explains her treatment so you can care for your feet between visits. Her rooms are cheerful and bright and very conveniently located in Box Hill Central.

Silver Linings has a range of services available: acrylic nails, lash and brow tinting, manicure, pedicure, waxing and spray on tanning. The waxing and eye lash tinting are the services I have tried so far. Silvana has a nice clean treatment room and is very efficient and careful in her treatments. You can book by phone or email which I find convenient. Silvana can also arrange 'group bookings' for that special occasion. PLEASE NOTE: WOMEN ONLY PLEASE. Check the website for more information.

If you need a good vet clinic I can recommend Elgar Road Vet. My cat Chris has been a client for about 18 months. Chris is a 'difficult' patient and like many cats she doesn't like strangers, or visiting the vet. You will find all the staff at Elgar Road Vet are very professional and capable. They all obviously love working with animals, and are very caring and kind: both to the animals and their humans. Other services include a cattery and dog grooming. If you have any questions about your animal the staff are always able to make a helpful suggestion.
