Five of us went to celebrate a special occasion here on Saturday night. The food was AMAZING! I had Beef Fillet with Prawns and Scallops on top of a Potato Rosti ... The beef was cooked to perfection and as requested (Medium Rare of course). I have had a lot of beef in restaurants around the world and this was up there with the best! My girlfriend had the Pumpkin Gnocchi in a Cream Sauce and I tried it ... not quite up to Lindoni's in Noosa's standard but pretty good!!! We splurged on sweets and they were delicious as well ... I had the Lemon Tart and she had the Sticky Date Pudding. The service was excellent as well.

The pub is in a great location high on a hill and views of the ocean out both sides. We arrived and grabbed a few drinks and then went to order our meals at the bistro. We were told there would be about a 20 minute wait and we said that was fine. There were 5 of us but none of our meals were complicated. Once we started seeing other people who had ordered after us getting their meals we enquired about the whereabouts of ours ... and were told they would be next out. Another 20 minutes later and our meals still hadn't arrived and we were getting a little cranky. We enquired again and finally after an hour and a half we got our meals. The food was perfectly acceptable pub fare but the service could have been much better. Thankfully the beer was cold!

We originally went for coffee but were talked into staying for lunch. We started off outside but the breeze was a bit cool so we moved inside. The owner was on top of everything and the staff all looked like they were enjoying themselves. As busy as it was everything ran VERY smoothly. The food was great ... I had a cold seafood platter with Oysters Natural, Prawns and Moreton Bay Bug with a Seafood Sauce and bread which was only $20. My girlfriend had the Fish and Chips which I tried and they were cooked perfectly. I'd definitely recommend it for lunch and they serve Vittoria Coffee which is one of my favourites!

We went to a wedding reception here on Saturday. The venue is beautiful and the staff are really friendly and attentive.

The food was amazing ... Antipasto to start and then Ravioli with a Capsicum Sauce for Entree. The mains were Eye Fillet or Chicken (served alternatively) and apart from the chicken being a little bit dry the meals were delicious. Dessert was a Rose Water flavoured Panna Cotta with Fairy Floss and was delicious.

If you're looking for a reception venue I would highly recommend Butleigh Wootton - although I don't know what the cost per head was.

Ocean Grove Pizza is a must try if you ever find yourself in Ocean Grove. They have a great variety of pizzas and pastas and they are great value. My favourite pizzas are the Searly Special and the Grove Special which are very similar.

Great Pizza, great service and excellent prices.

It was a windy day and we had looked for the markets that were supposed to be on but couldn't find them. Instead we went to the new marina area and went up the 360Q tower for the fantastic views over the heads and Queenscliff. After that we went to LiX for a coffee and they had an amazing looking Lemon Meringue Pie that we just had to share. The coffee was good ... they are a Genovese coffee house ... but the Pie was amazing, served with some cream and passionfruit sauce. The service was great and the prices were reasonable.

This review is for Som Thai, Doncaster East VIC

My Girlfriend and I ate at Som Thai on Monday this week and the restaurant was well patronised for a normally quiet night. While we were there the phone rang off the hook with takeaway and delivery orders (the mains are about $5 a dish cheaper than eating in the restaurant).

The atmosphere is great and the furnishings elegant and understated and seats about 50. The service is excellent and the food is to die for ... We shared a Massaman Beef Curry and Chicken and Cashew Stir Fry with Coconut Rice. The food was some of the best Thai food I have ever had and I've been to a lot of very good Thai restaurants over the years.

I would highly recommend Som Thai but if you are planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night then I suggest that you book ahead.

This review is for Yamagata Japanese Restaurant Doncaster East, Doncaster East VIC

My girlfriend and I went to Yamagata for dinner tonight and had the Tokyo Set Teppanyaki which started with an appetiser of Bean Shoots and Carrot in a Soy based sauce and followed by either Sushi and Sashimi or Chicken Yakitori.

We then started the Teppanyaki feast which was ably and humourously produced by Calvin with some pretty corny but funny jokes throughout the night. We started with Prawns and Scallops followed by Chicken and Beef. Then came the Mixed Vegetables followed by Fried Rice. Awesome meal and was delicious. The service was friendly but for the number of guests I thought that they could have done with another waiter/waitress. We also had a bit of a wait for the chef to start cooking but we enjoyed watching the chefs at other stoves. The night was filled with the usual theatre of Teppanyaki cooking and was great fun.

It was my girlfriend's first time having Teppanyaki and she loved it ... we will definitely be back.

This review is for Cafe The Vu, Wangaratta VIC

I went to Cafe the Vu 3 times over a long weekend last month and managed to have lunch, breakfast and 'just' coffee in those visits. The building is owned by my uncle and my cousin is the proprietor, this doesn't diminish from the quality of the food and coffee or the personalities of the staff! We were paying customers and received no freebies or special attention (well maybe my cousin sat and had a coffee with us!).

My first meal there was lunch and I had the whiting fillets which came out on a massive wooden board and were partnered by hand cut chips in a brown paper cone with a side salad and tartare sauce. It was enough for a hungry appetite but could probably feed two for a light lunch.

For breakfast I had the big breakfast which had bacon, eggs your favourite way, has brown and sausages with toast - my request for maple syrup was surprising to them but I do love a Canadian Breakfast!

The coffee is Gravity ... and being a bit of a coffee snob I can definitely recommend it! If it wasn't for the 5 hour round trip from Melbourne I'd be getting my daily caffeine fix from there for sure!

Great food, great service ... and they weren't just putting it on for us!

This review is for Salt Of The Earth - Centre Of Wellbeing, Lilydale VIC

I had a credit with Livingsocial ... One of the group buying sites and had some work to do in Lilydale so when I got an email offer for a massage at a great price I decided to grab it. I actually had forgotten about the voucher but then had to go to Lilydale yesterday so I called up to see if I could get in. I booked in for 2.30 and got there a few minutes early. I was directed upstairs where Marianna greeted me and showed me into the massage room and offered me a drink.

I got under the towel and the massage table was heated!!! What a great idea. The massage was fantastic and just what I needed after a few stressful days. I have no hesitation in recommending Marianna and will definitely be back soon. She also gave me a discount voucher for my next visit and her business card which was a nice touch.
