This review is for George's Paragon Seafood Restaurant, Brisbane QLD

We decided to take a friend visiting from Sydney to George's as we had heard good reviews. We weren't disappointed. Seated at one of the front tables right next to the window, the view across to the Story Bridge was beautiful. As the sun set and the lights on the bridge were switched on the view really was magical.
The food was lovely and fresh and portions large. My husband enjoyed the Coffin Bay oysters while I tucked into the Grilled baby octopus. The mains were generous and delicious.
The decor of George's is of course very Greek, but it has a certain charm to it.
For a very busy restaurant the service was efficient, and our waiter was top notch. A lovely venue with a view that is impressive.

This review is for Bubs Baby Shops, Fortitude Valley QLD

After much time spent shopping around for a pram we decided to have a look at Bubs Baby Shop. For what could have continued to be an overwhelming descision to make based on our experiences so far in other stores, we were thrilled to find this wasn't the case. We were served quickly in the pram section by a helpful team member who walked us through the pros and cons of our short listed prams. It was refreshing to recieve such honest opinions. She pulled the prams apart, showed us various attachments and all of the options available with each model. We were happy to say our decision was made after just one visit to this store.
Bubs has a wonderful range of all things baby. With staff who are efficient, well informed and helpful we won't hesitate to return for other purchases and highly recommend this store.

This review is for Stokehouse, South Brisbane QLD

A fantastic dining experience for that special occasion. Stokehouse is in an amazing location, with fantastic views out across the river and to the city. We have been lucky enough to be seated on a front table both times we have dined hear and it really is spectacular.
The food at Stokehouse doesn't disappoint. It is one of Brisbane's best dining experiences. The food has been second to none each time we've dined here. An ever changing menu to match the seasons. While not being one to talk about the sides in a review..a must is the salad of radicchio, fried goats cheese and pecans. I could have this as a main! Fantastic.
A beautiful experience, with superior food, service and a location to match.

This review is for Chiangrai Thai Restaurant, Norman Park QLD

Changrai Thai has become our go-to Thai take away restaurant. From the friendly greeting on the phone, to the efficient home delivery service, matched by delicious and quality meals; we are yet to be disappointed!
The Ginger Fish is an absolute fave!- Full flavoured and with plump mushrooms. We also can't go past the Pad Thai with chicken which should be the staple of any Thai meal! The chicken with basil and chilli always hits the spot.
Delicious meals, bursting with veggies and full of flavour. A must for home delivery.

This review is for Chris' Supa IGA Carina, Carina QLD

Working nearby, I often pop into Chris' IGA. I am always impressed with the great specials on offer and quality of the produce. The meat is top quality, and the fruit and veggies are always super fresh and competitively priced. (The chocolate treats including Reeses Peanut Butter Cups are a fantastic find too!) I often stock up on drinks here too as the pricing tends to be much lower than that of major supermarket chains.
While always attentive, the service can occasionally let them down a little at the check out. Having said that, I have often received a warm and friendly hello from those in the fruit and veg department.
A great family run supermarket.

This review is for Zen Hair, Carina QLD

Zen provides an "experience", not just a hair cut. The hair stylists are professional, attentive, fun, and committed to helping you achieve your desired results. Crystal has been fantastic helping me lighten my hair and get the colour that was just right for my wedding.
Always met with a smile, and a fantastic coffee, this modern salon really has the elements to provide a truly enjoyable experience. I'm am yet to leave disappointed with my hair. Looking forward to my next appointment!

This review is for Regent Theatre, Richmond NSW

verified email - 03 Dec 2012

Growing up the the Hawkesbury, the Regent was the go-to place for a movie night out. Operating long before the big chain cinemas, the experience always felt like it had the romance of the days of the old black and white movies.
We visited the Regent when in town recently and decided to catch a movie. The old girl hasn't changed very much at all over the years. It was a lovely experience being back in the old building and did really take me back to being a child. While not having all the mod cons of the larger chains, the seats were comfortable enough, and the air conditioner was working on this particularly warm day. The only downside being that as it is an old building, the air was a little musty, and there was a smell of damp. It felt like it could have been due for a steam clean.
Cheap tickets, a charming old building, and a lovely escape for a few hours. A nice way to see a movie in a theatre with a bit of character.

This review is for Montrachet, Paddington QLD

verified email - 03 Dec 2012

We visited Montrachet on our wedding anniversary for a special and intimate dinner. The food was lovely and just as expected: rich and full flavoured! Very indulgent. The soufflé entree was divine, as was the gnocchi. We were almost too full for our mains. My fish was lovely yet very buttery, and my husbands eye fillet was top notch. Sadly dessert will have to wait for next time!
As a venue Montrachet is very much French bistro dining. While the bookings are staggered, the tables are very much set directly next to each other so for an intimate meal it is worth asking to be seated on one of the few separate tables (a lesson learnt for next time!) The service was wonderful and very attentive. I was no surprise to find the restaurant booked out on a Tuesday night!

This review is for Fish Factory, Hawthorne QLD

verified email - 01 Dec 2012

After losing their original premises to fire, and trading out of their wholesale warehouse, Fish Factory has opened it's lovely new store. Large display counters in the middle of the store show off the lovely fresh seafood, and tucked down one end of the store is a take-away option for something ready to go.
Today we picked up some Coffin Bay oysters which as always were top notch, as well as Bundaberg Red Spot prawns, and some squid. The quality of the seafood is high, and so we are happy to pay the asking price. The service, while efficient and friendly could do with going just a tiny bit further (wrapping the purchased bags of seafood in paper before putting them in the plastic shopping bag will prevent seafood leaks in the car!)
All in all its about the seafood- and they don't disappoint!

This review is for Garfish, Manly NSW

verified email - 01 Dec 2012

Garfish Manly is a restaurant that doesn't disappoint. Sitting at one of the front tables by the window, right on dusk last Friday night was magical with the views across the water.
We found the food to be fresh, tasty, and varied- with daily specials allowing you to select your type of fish, how you would like it cooked, and with which accompaniments. Our entrees consisted of a shared seafood selection plate with delicious morsels of seafood prepared in different ways (my favourite was the tuna tartare!) My husband tucked into the Snapper Pie for his main, of which I was lucky enough to have him spare me just a taste before he gobbled it up! I enjoyed a lovely piece of grilled barramundi. The option of wood roasted seafood will have us returning again soon.
Friendly and efficient service, a magical setting, and amazing food. What more could you want?
