Seriously the worst meal I've eaten in Ballarat, would rather eat in at Macca's across the road. The steak was small, cold and half of it was a thick line of fat. The service was over the top. They act like we're in Smalltown, Texas and treat you like hicks. It might be fun for the kids but I wouldn't want my kids to think that normal people are like this. It's not over the top enough to be called acting, it's just people that have been told to act like something they have seen on TV. Worst. Steak. Ever.

The worst meal in Ballarat!! That's quite an achievement because most meals in Ballarat are rubbish. Some decent competition is what most of these losers need.

I have been here a few times since the new one opened in Ballarat. The last time I was here a few months ago was not a great experience. The staff were really pushy and wanted you to buy more drinks and also side. Then they forgot my meal!! And then when I asked were it was they said it was coming, I could tell it had not even been ordered. After 20Min's and when the others had finished their meal mine came out, no sorry or explanation. Very poor service, I won't be back

Approximate cost: $Too much!

Hog's breath is worth going to a few times a year - the steak can be anywhere from mediocre to absolutely breathtaking.

Curly fries are always delicious, the best way to experience this restaurant is with a group of people, preferably after a few drinks so you don't notice how much the staff are pushing more food/drinks on you.

Baaaaaaaad experience had here. We booked for 6:45 and arrived on time. We were seated promptly and left (for some time) to peruse the menu. We ordered drinks, entree and mains at the same time. Drinks arrived fine. A long time after ordering, one of our two garlic breads arrived. There were 5 of us and 4 pieces of bread per serving, so it was demolished pretty quickly. The next garlic bread arrived with an apology saying our bread order had been confused with the table next to us and they got our bread and delivered to us was a serve of their 'cheesy' garlic bread. They offered to replace this but we were hungry so we took it. ONE HOUR after we had placed our order (and after asking about our order a short time before it reached the one hour mark) a waitress came out and informed us they were out of mushrooms in the kitchen. Three out of the five of us at the table had ordered the mushroom salad!! We were fairly unimpressed, how could our order have sat in the kitchen for one whole hour with no one even looking at it to then finally be ready to make the food only to find out the main ingredient was missing? Very very poor. We were offered more avocado to replace the mushrooms, but this was not a reasonable substitute. We asked for the menu back and replaced our order. 15 minutes later our three new meals arrived but the two other meals were still behind. Food was ok, but not spectacular. After all of the waiting we had a visit from the manager, just a general casual, "how is your meal tonight?". We explained the drama with our meal after a quite ridiculous wait and she apolgised and said she had no idea this had happened. She told us the three replacement meals would be discounted ($3 off each) and both kitchen and waiting staff spoken to. We finished our meal, ordered dessert, paid and left. The reason for the extended waiting time was put down to a busy night and few staff in the kitchen. Very disappointed with our visit and we will not be rushing back. I can also note we were not the only table having problems with the service, many complaints were witnessed that night. The young wait staff did well though apologising and copping the brunt of average management and a slack kitchen.

Approximate cost: $13 - $30

Can't believe such a big franchise would be run so badly. I really am surprised they are still in business. I've been there 4 times, hoping each time the service would get better but it hasn't. Definitely won't be back.

Fantastic meal and time. Waitress had a great sense of humour. Really thought the food was A1 and reasonable price and decent size. had a slightly larger sized party and accomadated us to all sit together. Great place.

Was a bit tipsy after a quiet one or two across the road, went to Hogs Breath expecting a great feed and was pretty impressed with the size of the meal, the ribs were cooked pretty well but dissapointed with the service and cost. There was only the owner and two trainee waiters in the place so it was agonising to wait so long to have our order taken and be served. They made good money from the group I was with but I don't know we will rush back to the establishment.

Approximate cost: $expensive

I had my first Hog's Breath experience. There is a lot of raves about this line of stores but I'm not really sure what the buzz is about. It was nice but not brilliant. Mostly meat; ribs, burgers, steaks etc. Good if you like that kind of menu though. The service was good and the set up is pretty cool. My ambivalence about this place is probably a matter of personal taste rather than them doing anything wrong.

Approximate cost: $24.00
