Who doesn’t love online shopping?
My recent online shopping experience with HAP ticked all the boxes. Except the one that says ‘item delivered’.
The service was excellent: on 5th April I purchased a table, paid via Afterpay and promptly received a confirmation email with an estimated delivery date of 5 working days.
After a few weeks and several emails and website requests HAP reached out to explain the delivery delay: lockdown-related issues for their courier partners, being a young heavily short-staffed startup company swamped with orders; and the table I ordered being a hot item, out of stock, being sourced, being shipped as soon as possible, out of stock (again).

No table.

A refund? Not a problem.
A $30 incentive and an offer to purchase something else for my lovely home? No, thank you.
The friendly online support staff were personally looking into it.
But when you are a young heavily short-staffed startup swamped with orders and hampered by unreliable courier partners, refunds are hard to come by as well, despite the Refund Team and the Finance Department working overtime to fulfil my pending need.

No table.

No refund.

I longed to speak to my new HAP friends directly; however, the phone number listed on the website was ‘unable to take calls’. Ditto the mobile number.
Their Facebook and Instagram pages comment sections were similarly impaired.
When I looked up the warehouse address online it appeared to be a modest weatherboard cottage (off the market now but a bargain in 2019). But looks can be deceiving.

When I commenced mediation through a review website, HAC asked for one more chance and I really wanted them to have one - as much as I wanted a table.
Or a refund.

After that chance expired, I contacted Afterpay. Following a lengthy email trail and a self-described ‘nudge’ from Afterpay, HAP refunded my money.

I don’t want to generalise or make inflammatory or negative personal comments. I applaud plucky young startups and I’m glad they’re swamped with orders. I hope my customer service friends at HAP weren’t too hard on the Refund Team. I also hope that everyone at HAP gets a break soon. Maybe they can use their downtime to get a real phone number.
In fact, the only negative aspect of my experience with HAP was not getting what I paid for.

My dealings with Afterpay mid-April 2022: they assured me HAP is NOT a scam, then said I should approach their store partner directly for a refund - not their responsibility; when I said I had already done so (and had already attached proof with my first email) they said, oh we already told you we WOULD follow up on your behalf (they hadnt); then they got the refund by nudging HAP which did nothing to convince me that HAP isnt a scam: just dont tell Afterpay that: they get offended.

So about 3-4 weeks ago I ordered an outdoor setting off of home appliances plus. I was excited because it was such a good price and exactly what I wanted. About a week later, I realised I hadn't had any updates on my order and decided to check reviews (which I usually do first but didn't with my excitement). I instantly freaked out when I read the reviews and thought I must be getting scammed too. I messaged them via fb messenger regarding the reviews and my concerns. About a day later, they wrote back about the delays but they would update me asap. About 2 days later, I received a text from toll saying my order from new aim had been assigned and today it got delivered. I'm very glad that I received my item but I probably won't buy anything else through them. I don't want to go through the unnecessary anxiety to save a few bucks.

DONT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THEM. YOU'LL REGRET IT.
We ordered a coffee table on 21st April, and still have not received any dispatch details. It's now 2nd of may. We tried contacting Home Appliances Plus on their live chat but got no response. We also tried contacting them via email. Again no response. We also sat in their call centre queue for an hour only to have the call disconnected. I don't believe they even exist.We have ordered other items from a number of other companies around Melbourne since, and have already received them, so we are not accepting their likely excuses about courier delays. In short, we paid, they have not sent the item, and are not responding to us. Very disappointing. If they offered PayPal, at least we could have got a refund by now.
Just answer us!

Update: Home Appliances Plus finally reached out to us, however they failed to provide us with any idea of when we can expect our delivery. I have requested the cancellation of my order, and a full refund but once again they have not responded - very poor service

Everything boxed to perfection no damage to anything
Good Quality for the price.

I know they dont offer paypal but this is a legit company and worth putting an order in with.

Very happy will be returning.

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. COMPANY ADVERTISES AS AUSTRAILIAN AND HAVE A MELBOURNE BASED PHONE NUMBER. HOWEVER, THE OPERATORS ARE FROM THE PHILIPPINES.
I HAD NEVER RECEIVED MY ORDER, WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DELIVERED BETWEEN 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS.. AND IWHEN I CALLED THE COMPANY, AFTER NOT HEARING ANYTHING FROM THEM FOR 2 WEEKS. I WAS TOLD THAT MY ORDER WAS SITTING IN THE WAREHOUSE IN PORT MELBOURNE. AND THEIR EXCUSE WAS THAT THEY ARE A NEW SMALL INDEPEDENT BUSINESS, SHORT STAFFED AND CAN'T FIND A COURIER TO DISPATCH MY ITEM.
AFTER 3 WEEKS OF A DOZEN OR SO PHONE CALLS & GIVEN THE RUN AROUND. I WAS FED UP AND DECIDED TO ASK FOR A FULL REFUND OF $202. AND WHEN I TRIED DIALING THE NUMBER A FEW DAYS AGO TO FIND OUT THE PROGRESS OF MY REFUND. I WAS GETTING A SUSPECTED SPAM MESSAGE ON MY PHONE AND COULDNT GET THROUGH. AND THAT'S WHEN ALARM BELLS STARTING RINGING. SO, I DECIDED THERE & THEN TO TAKE MATTERS FURTHER & WENT TO MY BANK AND ISSUED A CARD DISPUTE.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!
They are frauds! I bought an item in February that said was in stock, they didn’t notify me that it was out of stock. Took me weeks to get them to agree to give me a refund, they then proceeded to not actually refund my purchase and kept telling me they were very busy. It’s now been over 2 MONTHS!! And I still do not have a refund. I’m sorry but it doesn’t take that long to refund a purchase. They will now not respond to my emails. They were shocking at their responses in general. I have had to put a dispute through my bank to get my money back.
