GAS Ducted Heater, not working. Onsite person not sure what was wrong. Took fan, checked out Ok. Said it was the module (PCB)...a value of $800. Returned with new module with a costing of $1100 (labour included). 2.5 hours later they said couldn't get it to work, will get back in contact. 1 week later I contacted them, waiting on info, will call me. Waited another 2 days, and more never did complete or fix anything. Contacted another company, said they could see what the problem was, but asked if the previous company could put the pcb back in as if they did and wired it incorrectly it could blow the board. Fair enough. Contacted ERS, they said they would come out and reassemble the heater at a cost of $38 per 15minutes. Pardon, they warranty their work, safety by law requirements, ethics ... The other company installed new parts, I waived their liability re pcb ... hmmm
Approximate cost: $200
We called ERS to fix our European oven that kept tripping the power. The first person who came and looked at it diagnosed the problem (after damaging the warming drawer). A part needed to be ordered. I was called 2 days later with a quote for $250+ to order the part and have it installed. The part was in stock interstate and should take 2 days to arrive. Two weeks later, after several phone calls, the part was in and another appointment made to install it. The person who installed was very nice and installed the part - but was there for only 45 minutes. This adds up to a very expensive part (which we now know costs less than $20 if we ordered it ourselves)! The power point to the oven didn't seem to work and so ERS was going to send out an electrician (at more cost) to fix it. Later that day I went and turned the switch at the powerboard to the ON position and that problem was instantly fixed. I would have thought that they would check that. Since the departure of these people I have had to fix the bracket and reset the ball bearings in the warming drawer. We need to remove the old silicone and re-silicone between the cooktop and the glass splashback where they cut it to pull the oven from the wall. All in all not a very good experience.
ERS asked to fix an old electric cooktop. 19/02/09 - job - 2 broken cooktops to be fixed - only 1 "fixed" at the time. This one wasnt even fixed properly (2 heat levels - v.low and v.high). Many phone calls later, some not returned - 1/4/09 another tech fixed both hotplates. Total $467 for 2 hotplates fixed, roughly 40 days later!
They recently installed an overhead fan in my kitchen and a new powerpoint. They arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves and did not take their time, they were courteous fast and efficient. They have done a lot of work for me over the years including rewiring my house, and my neighbours house (on my recommendation)
Had a COMPLETELY different experience with ERS - didnt come on the day they were supposed to, no phone call, didnt fix the fault when they arrived, dont return calls, dont call when they say they will. Have to get them back under warranty now- What a pathetic company and lousy customer service!
I've never had an bad experience like you described rickm1 - I accept however that you posted this on April Fool's Day.
