Maisys is an institution on the Lower North Shore. This has always been the go to place no matter what time of day.

Maisys is open 24 hours and runs a very extensive menu including their famous hot dog, sandwiches burgers and sweets.

I love the Tuna sandwich and their milkshakes are great.

There is ample street parking and a council car park not too far at the rear of the business.

A great place to go when nothing else is open.

This review is for Mosman Returned Servicemen's Club, Mosman NSW

The Mosman RS Club is located in the heart of Mosman on Sydneys Lower North Shore. The Club is across three floors with the Horizons Bistro and Restaurant located on the rooftop.

The club has two levels of undercover parking accessed via Gouldsbury Street.

The rooftop has stunning views of Sydney City and is the perfect place for an intimate dinner for two or a group gathering.

The new menu is fantastic offering great tapas items (try the meatballs) as well as substantial main courses (you have to try their signature duck and plum sauce or eye fillet with sashed potatoes)

Grab a cocktail as well and enjoy the view.

This review is for Liu Rose Restaurant, North Strathfield NSW

Do you want authentic chinese dishes as Australia has grown to love? Then Liu Rose is the place for you.

I've never had a bad meal here, the san choy bou and the sizzling steak is soooo good.

The restaurant takes you back to the 70's with its red carpet and decor but it feels just right.

Prices are reasonable and meals come out efficiently.

This review is for Dolcissimo, Haberfield NSW

This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Sydney. The menu is extensive and authentic.

I recommend any of the pastas and definitely have the antipasto and garlic bread to start.

They dont cater too well for gluten free customers especially when it comes to pasta.

Have a coffee and the nutella pizza for dessert.

This review is for Greengate Hotel, Killara NSW

verified email - 28 Nov 2014

The Greengate Hotel really is a staple for those on the North Shore of Sydney especially for university students.

Service really isnt great and beers are a little on the expensive side.

In relation to the food it isnt bad but it isnt amazing. I went to put tomato sauce on my burger and because they didnt label the bottle I ended up putting chilli sauce on it which made the burger inedible. I complained to the staff but they said it was my fault (which I half agree with) so i just asked they label the bottles now as the venue is dark inside and you really cant see the difference.

Good for groups.

This review is for Pino's Ristorante Pizzeria, Crows Nest NSW

Pinos is a staple for many familys when it comes to authentic italian food in Crows Nest.

The Antipasti and garlic breads are the perfect start follows by pasta and finished off with their famous tiramisu or vanilla and maple brulee.

I absolutely love their pesto and their bolognese, i always alternate between the two of them.

Prices are very reasonable and they offer entree and main size pastas which can be hard to find these days.

This review is for Manta, Woolloomooloo NSW

verified email - 20 Nov 2014

A beautiful setting right on Woolloomooloo Wharf amongst the hustle and bustle of the wharf restaurants lies Manta.

The food is fairly good, I had the calamari to start which was exceptional with an amazing smokey aioli. My main course was the petit eye fillet which was a beautiful piece of meat, probably a little under cooked however stile quite nice.

They are a little on the light side when it comes to pouring wine so you do find that for what ended up being $130 a head for our group you are a little underdone.

Reservations are essential as it is definitely a popular place.

This review is for Mercato E Cucina, Gladesville NSW

verified email - 20 Nov 2014

A beautiful restaurant and Italian marketplace has opened in Gladesville. The look and feel of this place is just right and all diners will be delighted with the very well thought out menu.

It is equipped with a deli, butcher, baker, fruit and veg, wine cellar and grocer as well as a brilliant restaurant.

You have to do yourself a favour and get some antipasto as you wont taste anyone in Sydney as fresh as this.

Next move onto their pizzas, cooked to perfection the italian way with minimal toppings.

Parking is available below in the underground car park.

A great meal and prices arent too bad.

This review is for Hux Grill, Roseville NSW

Jay Huxley appeared on Season 3 of Masterchef blasting his way to a top 15 finish out of over 5,000 applicants. Since then he has built some very successful restaurants however none as prominent as Hux Grill.

This is now listed in the top 10 steakhouses in Sydney and is on its way towards big things.

Jay prides himself on produce and his locally sourced menu wont disappoint anybody as he incorporates plenty of meaty dishes as well as seafood and vegetarian options.

The restaurant is decked out with awesome artwork and a black and red colour scheme with a great big beef on the chalkboard wall highlighting the different cuts of meat.

My recommendation is that you call and make a booking as most nights this place is completely booked out.

You have to try Jays salt and pepper squid, onion rings and steaks or fish dishes as these really are the bomb.

A perfect place for a perfect meal.

This review is for Ventuno Pizzeria Enoteca Birreria, Dawes Point NSW

verified email - 20 Nov 2014

Ventuno is a little gem located on Walsh Bay. The pizzas are to die for and I strongly recommend the Prosciutto pizza.

Go in a group and get some antipasto to start as the selection of cold meats and cheeses available to customers is extensive and the breads wont disappoint.

Prices are as you would expect for Walsh Bay location and parking is generally available in abundance.

There are some really nice water views from this restaurant as well.

Approximate cost: $30
