Quick stop for a snack. We had vege triangle (broccoli and cauliflower), apple turnovers and a couple of hot drinks. Good food and good service. There are a couple of small outdoor tables and chairs if you want to stop, and some inside dining. They offer fresh bread rolls and loaves, and plenty of premium beef pies.

We are huge fans of Thai food and while we did enjoy our Tom Kha soup and Cashew Vegetables, we've never paid so much for the soup before. It was a large size, but filled with a lot of noodles, which we've not seen anywhere else, and fills it out cheaply without adding extra veges. In saying that, the flavour was still very nice, as was the cashew vegetables. Dining is all inside and some tables are very very close together which makes it harder if you're after something intimate.

After struggling to find somewhere open for a mid-arvo snack on, we discovered Pitchfork, and while they were setting up for the evening they had a bar snack menu we could order from. A few interesting options, including something we'd never seen before - your choice of tin tuna or sardines with sourdough bread. Doesn't sound like much, but the tuna was delicious, and for a healthy high-protein afternoon snack for the fitness-conscious, it was a perfect option. Delicious aioli with the chips, and another newbie we haven't tried before was the Salty Dog drink. A light, very refreshing non-alcoholic drink with a lovely hint of lime. A very nice afternoon, and friendly staff.

It's nice to try new places when on holidays and we aren't often disappointed, some of our most random stops turn out to be the best. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of those stops. The inside decor is not bad, though still has a feel of an old bar with very random furniture that some establishments can pull off very well but it just didn't work here. Perhaps "Lambs Brains" on the menu should have been a warning, as it's really not the sort of location you'd expect that. The only vegetarian option was a curry, which looked appetising enough but didn't have much flavour at all and we would suggest should at least be accompanied by some rice. The potato and egg salad looked good in the fridge cabinet, but when served came with a single half of egg, so that was a little frustrating. That and the curry was $14, which was overpriced especially given she asked when we ordered if it was enough on the plate. The chicken was ok, but again, with a small side salad at $14 it was not worth it at all. A very disappointing lunch, we would not recommend it and won't return.

With a large group of us, we were surprised at how quickly all our meals came out, from pancakes with ice cream to quiches and salad to our own dishes of delicious chicken pesto pasta with garlic bread. At $14, the pasta was excellent value and there were other flavours as well. The vegetarian quiche with salad and wedges was also a huge plateful and great value. Can't wait to go back!

Overall, a disappointing afternoon meal for a few reasons. When we arrived we were the only guests at the cafe, which as others have noted is definitely not a bakery and could do with a much wider selection if they want to continue with that. There were two girls behind the counter, so for 4 guests who only ordered some hot drinks and toasted sandwiches, the service was appallingly slow. It took 15 minutes for 3 hot drinks to arrive, and a further 5 before the first of our toasties arrived. This was a steak toastie and was quite good. It took another few minutes after that before our plain cheese and tomato toasties arrived, only to see that they were also full of ham, something we specifically said we did not want. Again, perhaps something that may be understandable if the cafe was flat out and there was miscommunication in the kitchen, but when it took another 10 minutes for our toasties to come out again, it was clear that they were too busy chatting behind the counter to bother having decent customer service for the only customers there. If I were the owner, these young girls need to learn about customer service and getting the job done no matter how few customers are there. Very disappointing.

This was the only place open in town after 8pm and thank goodness it offered a big buffet of Thai/Asian food as we were starving! At $29 it wasn't a cheap buffet, but at the same time there was plenty of food options, and multiple vegetarian dishes which was a nice surprise and made for a really nice dinner with lots of flavours. The chickpea satay was delicious, nice to see they gave a vege option instead of chicken, and everything else from the Pad Thai, Chili Fish, Fried Rice, Honey Chicken and so much more we can't remember, you definitely got your money's worth. The seating by the large open windows was nice and comfy, and for visitors it felt nice and homely. The decor is comfortable, lovely fireplaces, and the staff were very friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to stop in again.

For $120 a night, on a night where there was a game at the Gabba and other places increased their prices, we thought this was great value. The room was very neat and clean, much cleaner than some places we've stayed. Air-con was ice cold and very effective, even on such a hot day and evening. The balcony had a nice view of the city lights. Having a kitchenette with an actual sink and a microwave was a bonus, cutlery and plates were provided so if you're on a budget with meals this definitely helps. Towels were beautifully soft, and nice amenities. It was a double bed only but still comfortable and a blanket was provided for extra comfort. There was also a small lounge chair in the room. Location-wise, you are only 5 minutes walk to the Gabba, and there are plenty of food options nearby. Undercover parking in Qld summer storms is also a bonus.

Issues: You definitely have to check on your bond/security deposit. We were told at the time of checkout that we would get our bond deposit back on our credit card within 3 days. A week later we rang and it hadn't even been processed at all. This was disappointing and if we hadn't followed up then they would have kept our money. How many people don't check and never receive their deposit back? The issue is also that they don't just put a hold on the credit card, they physically take $100 off the credit card. Also disappointing was being told we had to come back to reception no earlier than 7am on checkout day to get our deposit refunded - what about guests needing to depart early? Another woman had paid a cash deposit and was still told it would be refunded onto her card within 3 days - this was then corrected and staff had to chase after her to give her the cash back. If not for these two things, we would have given 5 stars.

At $30 an adult and $26 for concessions, it isn't a particularly cheap venture, as bushwalking anywhere is free so you are paying really just for the airwalk. But in saying that, the views are gorgeous, the tracks are well maintained and it's the sort of thing you really do want to say you have done at least once. For someone who is afraid of heights, it is still doable as the airwalk track is very solid and you can easily hold on to both sides for comfort. Looking over the trees and the river is just so peaceful and we did really enjoy that aspect. Make sure you drop a coin and make a wish on your journey, bonus points if you can land it on the tree below! The paperwork said a 50 minute return trip just for the air walk which we were concerned was going to feel like a very long walk before we got to see anything but it was quite the opposite and we quickly understood that the longer walk time given was just to enjoy the scenery on what is otherwise a very easy and manageable walk. Would definitely recommend people visit at least once to experience it, but pick your day as it might not be so enjoyable in high winds. We had a perfect sunny day and there were plenty of areas to eat if you brought your own picnic lunch. If not, there is an onsite cafe but it also is a little pricy so for families we'd recommend a lovely picnic lunch outdoors.

A day after driving past when it was closed but quite intrigued by the timber decor and lovely carved statues, we decided to stop in for brunch. We were hoping for more of a breakfast menu at the time but we can't fault them for not having that, and the pies we had were delicious. It was also great to see a separate cabinet with multiple vegetarian pastries, pies and rolls. Much appreciated! The vege pie was very tasty, full of cauliflower which gave it a lovely creamy sauce. Hot drinks were served very promptly, and boiling hot as requested (something not every place listens to!). Sweets were very reasonably priced and the vanilla slice at $3.50 was really tasty, could definitely have eaten another. We would happily go back.
