My sisters and I went looking for wedding gowns yesterday and took a drive up the freeway to Joondalup. I was prepared to not be able to try on gowns at the store, as their website states an appointment is necessary, and I did not have one. However, I was lucky enough to jag a time when another person had cancelled. That said, I think that the ladies in the store would have been accomodating or in the very least polite had they not been able to squeeze me in. The ladies are very helpful and give some lovely tips. I really do praise Renee for making me feel comfortable in her store. Compared to some larger stores, they do have a smallish collection of gowns, but there is a decent range to choose from. I would highly recommend this store for gowns, especially if you are a younger bride.

This review is for Pancho's Mexican Villa Restaurant, East Victoria Park WA

I've been to Panchos a few times in the past, but the thing that really stood out for me when I went back recently was the fact that they went out of their way to accomodate us without a reservation. The restaurant was busy for a Sunday night, but we were served promptly and the food was tasty.

This review is for The Sassy Cookie, Victoria Park WA

I went here with a friend for a catch up over coffee. When she suggested we go somewhere in Vic Park, I immediately thought it would be somewhere on the strip, but The Sassy Cookie is a little out of the way. This didn't stop the little shop from having a fair few patrons however. When you walk in it has a very cute atmosphere, and is very friendly and inviting. Customer service was lovely, as you often get from a family business. I ordered a $4 latte and a slice of chocolate, raspberry and walnut slice - divine! We really enjoyed our coffee and chat in the converted dining room of the old home, which makes it feel like you're visiting a relative for tea.

This review is for Golden Century Seafood Chinese Restaurant, Northbridge WA

Went here with a group of friends for a dim sum catch up on St Patrick's Day - Rosie O'Grady's had a packed house next door which added to the atmosphere whilst we waited outside for the rest of our group to come.

Although they were quite busy, service was good, the food tasty and I left feeling quite satisfied. It worked out to $16 a head between a large group and we had ordered quite a few dishes.

This review is for Burswood Seafood, Burswood WA

My dad used to buy seafood from here all the time when we were growing up, and 10 years later the quality of the food is just the same - fantastic! Although all the seafood is sold frozen, once defrosted it is beautifully fresh tasting and nothing but delicious. The prawn spring rolls sent me back to my childhood - same great taste. I found it interesting to note that this is the company that has the vans selling the "sexy salmon" outside UWA and in Guildford.

There is also an online price list on the website so you can check value for money before heading into the store.

This review is for Student Edge, Subiaco WA

I was one of the students involved in the pilot version of studentedge - this was back in 2003, and how far they have come since! The online community that studentedge provides is a nice addition to the discounts that you get as a result of having a card. Not to mention the fact that ANY student - highschool thru to university - is eligble. Not sure if they have expanded nationally properly yet, but a well established support for the WA student community.

I earn enough points to redeem a cash out offer maybe once a year, sometimes more if I have spent a lot of money online with their rewards partners. I'm not as dedicated as I used to be - logging on every day can get you more points (I think) but if I get an extra $30 cash a year for very little effort, I think it's worth it.

This review is for Vistaprint, Sydney NSW

I've ordered some great things from Vistaprint, mostly through the free offers. A self-inking stamp that I could personalise with my own phrase (awesome!), some address labels that I use to label my books and some postcards with a glossy front. I have been so impressed with Vistaprint that I used their services to create my save the date notices for my wedding (using a free invitation offer of course!). The price of postage is quite expensive, but if you are buying the freebies, it works out to be great value for money. Also, you earn points with them if you are a member of RewardsCentral.

This review is for Dome Cafe, Kalamunda WA

verified email - 23 Jan 2013

I love Dome. The atmosphere of the cafes is very relaxing and I really love the way they do up heritage listed buildings. Which they have achieved at their new Kalamunda store. Unfortunately, that was where my love for Dome Kalamunda ended when we visited there on the weekend. Admittedly a busy afternoon, we waited 45 minutes for our meal to be brought out (after we noticed other customers who had arrived after us getting their meals served to them). After enquiring why we were still waiting, our meals were brought out to us (a big breakfast and a lamb pizza). The pizza, although unceremoniously dumped into a pile on the plate, was still warm, which is more than can be said for the other dish. To their credit, the manager did refund the cost of the cold meal, but unfortunately the whole experience has been a disappointment and we won't be returning anytime soon.

This review is for Hale Rd Tavern, Forrestfield WA

verified email - 23 Jan 2013

You know when you have received good service when a few months down the track you remember how good an experience was in comparison to another. I caught up with a friend just before Christmas at the Hale Rd for dinner and a chat. The bistro was busy and lively and as a consequence, the kitchen was flat out. What impressed me was that prior to placing our order, we were told that there would be a fair wait for our food and did we still want to order. As we were wanting to have a chat, the wait didn't bother us, but the fact that we were told straight away what to expect, rather than place our orders and then find out 45 minutes later why our food still wasn't ready, was very refreshingly. The chicken parma serving was generous and delicious and the chips beautifully crisp. Unfortunately the layout of the shopping area is rather confusing, with lots of little carparks that dead end in front of the wrong shop, so make sure you know where you are going before setting off.
