This review is for VILLAGGIO WOOD FIRED PIZZAS, Kalamunda WA

verified email - 23 Jan 2013

A friendly little cafe that I wouldn't have too much trouble having a meal with a few friends at. Despite the name, Villagio also do burgers and kebabs. The kebabs can be very generously filled - almost too much, as one of our kebabs ended up being worn before eaten - and the meat is very appetising. You wouldn't be able to stop buy for a late night kebab feed, but if you are feeling kebab-inclined, the ingredients are all fresh and don't leave you feeling full of regret - too much...

This review is for Rose Heritage Cafe, Carmel WA

Visited the Rose Cafe on a Saturday with my sister with the intention of having afternoon tea. Instead, decided to try the Roseade - lemonade infused with rose water. A different idea, a touch on the expensive side (+$6 for a drink is asking a lot) but definitely worth the novelty. Although I can attest to the fact that rose petals don't really taste that great on their own, the rose petal nougat is a tasty treat and the grounds are just spectacular. Will definitely go back for a proper meal.

This review is for Matteo's Pizza Bar, Kalamunda WA

Kalamunda doesn't have a lot of choice when it comes to fast food, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Matteo's Pizza makes gourmet pizzas at a reasonable price. The Works is a feast of good quality ingredients and The Mexican has a real kick. Friendly service.

This review is for Hans Cafe Midland, Midland WA

Went here for dinner last night. When we first arrived we waited at the door as the sign suggested. After waiting a while we approached the counter where a waiter unceremoniously handed us our menus and let us choose our own seats. After waiting for about half an hour for any attention - no water placed on table, no checking to see if we were ready to order - I called over the waitress to place our orders. She seemed as if we were getting in the way of her doing her job (?!) and told us that it would have been easier to order at the counter. Although there were only two waiters it was not exactly a busy evening, so I was a little taken aback by her attitude.

Despite the appalling attitude of the waiters, the meals were brought out promptly and were generous serves, especially considering the price.

I think the restuarant takes liberties with the fact they are the only place to eat near the cinemas. Have been to many other Hans Cafes and the service has far exceeded what I experienced at this joint!

Approximate cost: $10 - 15

This review is for Belmont Tavern, Cloverdale WA

Went here for lunch yesterday. $15 lunch specials were delicious and generous. Wait was a reasonable amount of time. Only fault was perhaps the fact that the waiter spilt the drinks because they were too full! Definitely satistifed with the experience.

This review is for Leteisha's Hair Lounge, Queens Park WA

Used to be a loyal customer of the salon that was being operated here before. On Christmas Eve the other half was desperate for a last minute hair cut. Luckily, the salon owner was available and cut his hair, even though she was technically closed. Prices are a lot cheaper also. Was impressed with the level of service and friendly demeanour of the owner. A positive experience at a busy time of year.

This review is for Sunshiners Gifts And Souvenirs, Two Rocks WA

verified email - 22 Dec 2012

Stumbling across this little shop was a real treat. Even though Two Rocks is considered a part of the Perth Metro Area, this shop captures the small town feel well. A variety of unique gifts, including confectionary, crystals and cards. I really liked the personal touch of givng a small soap with a card as a little gift to shoppers. Will call in again if I find myself romping up in the northern suburbs.

This review is for Harvey Norman Guthrie St, Osborne Park WA

verified email - 22 Dec 2012

I've heard a lot of negative reviews about Harvey Norman of late, but was extremely impressed by the service I received at the Guthrie St store this weekend. Last week I purchased a Food processor, only to discover that it didn't work. Not only did they offer a replacement, they did so without me having a copy of my receipt. Speaking to Paul on the phone, he found a record of my transaction on the system and let a customer service representative know that I would be coming in later. I was expecting some hassles, knowing full well that I was the one at fault for not having a copy of my receipt, so it was amazingly refreshing to experience such good customer service. Was more than happy to spend a little bit more to replace the blender that I had returned, even though they did offer a full refund.

This review is for Toast, East Perth WA

I love the kitsch atmosphere you get at Toast. Food is great. The only problem is everyone knows this and so it gets packed quite quickly. I enjoyed the poached eggs with smoked salmon and some white tea for brunch. Yum!

This review is for Club Capricorn, Yanchep WA

verified email - 30 Nov 2012

We booked a weekend getaway for two at the Lodge recently. The reputation that Club Capricorn established in the 1970s hasn't moved much. The grounds seem to be stuck in a perpetual time warp. The lodge room was very basic and plain. I would consider 'Club' Capricorn to be more of a glorified caravan park. A nice location for a stop over if you were heading through Perth on your way North or South, but definitely not a 'getaway' experience.
