For a Thai restaurant, I was expecting much better! Although the prices where cheap and servings large, it was ver much lacking in taste and quality. Definitely did not have the authentic Thai flavours that I would have expected from a Thai restaurant.

The glasses we got were dirty, and none of the entree were available (and it was only 8pm on a saturday night!). The Pad Thai thasted more like you normal run of the mill stir fry noodle, the green curry was appalling, yam neur (beef salad) was tough and did not taste very authentic and we ended up leaving the whole serve of Tofu Salad untouched! The only decent dish of the night was the dry red lamb curry, which to be honest tasted more like a coconut rendang than a Thai Red Lamb Curry.

Approximate cost: $12-15

This is a cocktail bar located on Russell Street. Look for the red birdcage above the doorway, otherwise you might miss the entrance.
Small & cosy, this is the place to go if you are looking for a small intimate location to have a gathering or after work drinks. The rooftop is ideal for summer drinks...... with an extensive cocktail list which makes it very difficult to choose.
THe signature Red Hummingbird is very good......

I have bene going to them since I had to find a dentist to extract my wisdom teeth quite a few years back. They do not recommend treatments for the sake of it..... and will charge you reasonable prices for the treatment that you do require.
There are a few dentists there, but you will have to try them to see which one suits you best. They are extremely busy, so bookings are recommended to be made well in advance if you plan to visit

Amazing French food at prices which will not break the bank!
You are greeted by the waitress who will seat you, and bring you warm, crusty rolls with butter, and complimentary chicken liver pate canapes while you decide on your food.
The food is excellent and service is good.
The passionfruit souffle is excellent, and large enough to share between two!
Servings are large for a French restaurant... overall, good value for money for an authentic taste of France

This review is for Ocha 2 Go, Hawthorn VIC

Sister restaurant of the more upper class Ocha in Kew, Ocha 2 Go still serves excellent modern Japanese food, albeit at a much more affordable price.
The serve yourself format minimises on costs, and adds to the dining experience.
All food on the menu comes highly recommended, the fish karaage is very good, but so are the other dishes!
kid friendly place as colouring implements are provided to keep the young ones amused while you dine.

This review is for Akita Japanese Restaurant, North Melbourne VIC

Japanese retaurant serving traditional Japanese food, with a slight modern twist to it.
Food here is best suited for sharing to ensure you get a wide variety of everything. Menu here changes depending on the season and availability of produce, but rest assured it always tastes good.

This review is for Pepper, Flemington VIC

Breakfast at Pepper's is always excellent. Good, fresh quality food served with a slight twist. The soy chai latte is also highly recommended.
On Wed - Fri nights, Pepper does pizzas for $7.00.... with a variety of gourmet toppings. The pizzas are thin crust and very well done, simple with good quality toppings which is definitely worth the price you pay for it!

Good value for money if you are looking for a decent meal without wanting to break the bank.
The Thai food served here is pretty run of the mill, but what you do get, you get loads of it, which makes up for the lack of quality.
The entrees are good, however the mains can end up tasting a bit similar.

This review is for Crabapple Cupcake Bakery, South Yarra VIC

Didn't actually go to the bakery, but got the cupcakes from a cafe in the city. They were a bit pricey at $4.00 each but very prettily iced. Was nice and moist, but nothing exceptional, although the Hummingbird was probably the highlight of the cupcakes we bought. Kids would love it for the pretty icing and novelty factor.

This review is for Amiconi Restaurant, West Melbourne VIC

One of the oldest Italian restaurants in Melbourne. Serves excellent food... seafood dishes are highly recommended although the other dishes are very well cooked as well. The food is cooked in the traditional Italian way, and the wait staff are generally attentive to your needs.
Bookings recommended as they do get pretty busy especially on Friday and Saturday nights

Approximate cost: $20.00
