This review is for Dante's Ristorante, Berwick VIC

I've been to Dante's a few times and each time I have not been too impressed with the food. The first time I ordered chicken and the sauce tasted similar to a cup of soup mix. Very commercial and not fresh and simple. The next time I went I had risotto and it was okay, but nothing outstanding. The pizza also looked really heavy and gluggy, particularly the four cheese one.

We went on a busy Saturday night so the service wasn't very good. Basic things like water on our table was overlooked and wait staff walked off in the middle of taking orders. The food was a bit hit and miss with some meals of a few low standard, but others were okay. Some of the meals had far too much salt added to them.

I had a lamb kebab and it was one of the worst I have ever had. It took a while to make even though it wasn't busy. The lettuce and tomato didn't look very fresh. I don't like when people use iceberg lettuce that is white and old, and this was that type of lettuce. The person making it also was very sparing with the salad, only putting on three slices of tomatoes. They also had other food which didn't look that good and it looked like it had been sitting around for a while and wasn't fresh. I was disappointed because it looked okay when I first went in as the meat is cooked over charcoals.

My favourite items from Upwey Bakery are the fruit scones. Even the day old ones taste better than other places. The chicken pies because the pastry is perfect. The doughnuts, they are the best ones I have ever had. The lady who works there is really friendly and I have never had anything bad from there.

This review is for Aroma Bar Restaurant, Elwood VIC

We went to Aroma for lunch on a Saturday. It was quite busy when we first arrived and I found the tables a little squashy as I was rather close to the person behind me. The waitresses were really friendy and brought water to our table really quickly. I ordered the calamari salad and my partner had a chicken burger. I thought his chips were really good, but they were a little greasy. The salad I had was lovely and the calamari wasn't chewy at all.

The value was really good, both were under $17, although we had an Entertainment Book voucher making it even cheaper. The breakfasts they serve looked HUGE. Our portions were good, enough food to satify but not a huge overloaded plate that you feel you should eat and then feel ill. I would go back.

Approximate cost: $12-20

We had to wait a bit before we were seated, and our seat was a little squashy and close to other people. The food was great and very filling so you don't need to order that much really, unless you want to leave holding onto your stomach.

This review is for Bell's Fish & Chips, Belgrave VIC

The chips at Bells are really good. I think it is hard to find a good fish and chip shop that has really crispy chips on the outside but soft and fluffy inside, but these guys do it just right.

This review is for King of Kings, Melbourne VIC

I've been eating at King of Kings for about 5 years. The food is good, but it is cheap, so you are probably getting what you pay for. The service is basic, but fast and the look of the restaurant, particularly if you go to the loo isn't that flash. You might have to step over a vacuum cleaner to get to the loo, but you just paid under $10 for a meal and a starter, so you can't really complain.

We have only ever got take away from this place and it has always been really good. They have a good deal for $50 which has some curries and also starters. They people working there are always helpful and on one occassion when they thought they forgot something from our order they ran out to give it to us.
