This review is for Made In Italy, Pyrmont NSW

Very disappointed overall. The 'Made in Italy' pizza and 'Mamma Mia' pasta was tasty but nothing special. The margherita pizza was terrible. When paying $22 for 'tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, oregano & fresh basil' , we didn't expect a cheap tasting cheese pizza with ONE small leaf of basil and no oregano to be seen. Asked for more basil, got a tiny little dish with wilted leaves.

Cocktails were astoundingly bad. Their hendricks mojito was the worst I've ever had. It does state on the menu that 'raw sugar' is used, we did not expect it to be lumped at the bottom with no attempt to be mixed into the soda which was only filled about 3/4 of the way up the glass. The Camparinha was the worst of the bunch. As the favourite drink of one person in our group, she was very disappointed. Definitely won't be back.

I ordered the wild mushrooms with herbed ricotta and poached eggs on sourdough, which was delicious except for the fact that the eggs were not runny at all. Both were almost well done. I noticed this on plates of many other tables as well which is disappointing :( I really like the menu and ambience here however and will continue to visit elbow room, next time I'll ask specifically for runny eggs.

Chargrill Charlie's has to be my favourite place to eat in St Ives! My favourite meal to get is the chicken schnitzel dinner (~$15 eat in or takeaway) which includes a schnitzel and 3 vege, I usually go for 2 salads and the honey mustard roasted vegetables or sweet potato wedges! Their salads are always so fresh and tasty - I love the avocado vinaigrette salad, and of course their charcoal chicken is so delicious and juicy.
Charlie's is a local favourite for it's extremely consistent, home-style food with a huge range so you're bound to find something that you'll love! Their ticketing system is very efficient however be prepared to wait a while on Friday and Saturday nights with families picking up some takeaway. Service is always friendly, fast and helpful. 5/5 stars, will be coming back again and again.

This review is for Petit Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant, St Ives NSW

Love this local gem! Fresh, modern and clean interiors, fantastic friendly and attentive service and wonderful food (+ my Vietnamese father approves and loves coming here).

The salt and pepper squid is delicious and never soggy with a bit of a chili kick, which I can't get enough of. The beef pho is a definite highlight for me, wonderful tasty broth, which is full of flavour. The meat is so tender and not too fatty, and they are happy to provide more vietnamese mint/sauce on request. My partner reckons this is one of the best pho he's had!

I'd also highly recommend trying the avocado smoothie and vietnamese iced coffee!

I dined here a few weeks ago with family and we ordered the banquet menu which I think is definitely value for money as we had lots of food left over which they happily put in takeaway containers for us. Highlight for me was definitely the Sydney Rock Lobster wok fried with garlic butter and the wonton noodle soup, which had lots of wontons in it!

This review is for Pana Chocolate, Alexandria NSW

This is by far the best vegan dessert I've ever tried! I ordered a medium sized double chocolate raspberry cake for a (vegan) colleagues birthday.

The Pana Chocolate team were so lovely and helpful over the phone when something went wrong with my online order. It was quick and easy to order, made fresh the following morning and delivered that day!

It is definitely on the pricey side at $65 + $15 next-day delivery to the CBD, however I would definitely say it's worth it! For those with dietary requirements or simply health concious, these cakes are incredible -
RAW
ORGANIC
HANDMADE
LOW GI
NO DAIRY
NO SOY
GLUTEN FREE
NO REFINED SUGAR

Coming from a non-vegan, this is one the best cakes I've ever had. So smooth and rich in flavour, not to mention absolutely stunning to look and delivered in a sturdy, black box.

Approximate cost: $80

This review is for Pepper Lunch Express, Chatswood NSW

I really enjoy Pepper Lunch, although I've found the consistency to be not so great at the Chatswood location. On two separate occasions I've ordered the salmon pepper rice, and both times they are so so tasty with the signature pepper paste inside the rice with sizzling hot salmon, however the first time I only received tiny little slivers of salmon and mostly rice. The second time, I was very happy as the salmon was quite generous! At $12.50 I think it is a great value meal as long as you are getting enough salmon. Otherwise, it felt as though I was just paying for rice.

This review is for Pho Gia Hoi, Eastwood NSW

The Pho here is good, although definitely not the best I've had. At $13 for a (big!) bowl of rare beef noodle pho, it is fantastic value, the beef is also very tender and tasty, and arrives with generous servings of beansprouts, herbs, lemon, etc.
Although the pho doesn't blow me away, I really enjoy coming here for the wide range of vietnamese drinks - sweet red bean, vietnamese iced coffee, three colour drink and assorted fruit shakes (passionfruit, watermelon, lychee, avocado, etc.) which are very well-priced at ~$5 each.

Excellent local grocery store, which not only sells great quality fruit and vegies, but also a range of specialty foods, cheese, yoghurt, dips, flowers, etc. I enjoy coming here to buy my fresh produce, and flowers as it is always great quality and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Their herbs are fantastic and always much fresher than those in larger supermarkets.

This review is for Sushi Maru, Gordon NSW

verified email - 10 Jan 2017

Delicious, fresh sushi train located in the Gordon Shopping Centre on Pacific Highway. There were lots of options going around on the train, with the chefs constantly making up new plates in the centre. We also ordered udon and teriyaki salmon from the menu and these arrived very quickly.
As with most sushi trains, the kitchen is on display in the centre, so cleanliness is very important. Sushi Maru looked a bit cluttered and messy, although this didn't bother me too much.
