I was visiting Sydney to spend time with my daughter who has recently moved there. After spending a couple of hours in the nearby park we went here for dinner.

The spring rolls we started with were delicious although as they had mushrooms in them I had to pick those out of my daughters. For mains she had fried rice and I had a fish soup which was full of flavour, lots of mackerel and was delicious.

The service was great and it was reasonably priced although it looks like lunchtime would be the cheaper time to go. It wasn't very busy but it seems like it is a popular choice in the area.

Approximate cost: $20

We went here for lunch one hot Saturday in January with plans to have a meal and then go to the sand art exhibition next door. It was almost 2pm when we got there but their kitchen is open all day on the weekends. We waited almost 10 minutes to be seated and were told to sit wherever we liked and someone would come and take our order.

We sat outside as it was a nice day and after I told my partner what I wanted to order I went to the bar to get us some drinks. There were four people ahead of me and I got to watch a whole set of tennis before I was served. Then when I finally did get served the girl complained that nobody would help her in the bar. Then I was short-changed over $10 and had to ask how much the drinks were (a pint of beer and a lemon, lime and bitters) so I could get the correct change. I returned to our table with the drinks and asked if someone had taken our order - they hadn't. There were about six tables around us that were piled with plates and glasses that had been there since we arrived. A family was shown to a table outside and we were ignored. By this stage we decided that we would just finish our drinks and leave.

Very disappointing.

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner last night … I am a member of the club through my cricket club membership and as it was my birthday on Monday they offered me a buy one main meal get another free. For a Tuesday night it was quite busy but the service was very friendly and efficient. It had been a while since we had been here for dinner and we were both impressed.

Sharon had the Salmon with a Cashew and Lemon Crust on mashed Potato with Asparagus and Coconut Crumbed Prawns with a Lemon and Dill Sauce. I tried it and it was really delicious. I had the 400gm Rib Eye with vegetables and a Red Wine Jus … the steak was cooked to perfection and just how I like it. I had a glass Victorian Cabernet Shiraz with it which was reasonably priced and went really well together with the steak.

We went here tonight for a friend's 40th Birthday dinner and had a reserved table for 10 of us. We started off with drinks which was fine but when we went to order our meals the person there didn't seem to want to be there. She was really slow taking our orders and not happy when we asked for slight changes or omissions from the menu.

The food came out staggered so that by the time the last person got their meal some of us had almost finished ours. A few of the group had to send their meals back as they were cold and when they were brought back to the table they were slammed down.

My girlfriend had the Lemon Pepper Calamari and Prawn combo and asked for it with vegies instead of chips and salad and I ordered the grass fed Scotch Fillet with a Mushroom sauce and vegies. I think Sharon got the best meal of the night! My vegies were cold but I was starving so I didn't bother sending it back. The steak was cooked medium-rare as requested but for a $29 meal I would have thought that the quality of the meat would have been better. I'm still picking fat out of my teeth.

Even when the coffee was brought out and the Birthday girl asked how many shots of coffee were in her mug the waitress looked at her like she was born on another planet!

Overall the food was average and the service was lousy and when you're paying nearly $30 per main it's not good enough. I have been to a number of ALH pubs before for a bistro meal and even if the food was not up to scratch at least the service was friendly.

We have been here a few times before ... I don't think we'll be going back! Or, if we do, we might give Graziers Steakhouse a go instead.

We went here for dinner New Years Eve and the place was quite full. My girlfriend had been here many times before but it was my first time there.

While the décor is quite dated it is traditional Chinese restaurant style.

We started with complimentary Prawn Crackers and then had Sesame Prawn Toast for entrée ... the Prawn Toast was quite large and full of that Prawny goodness that you are after and was served with Plum Sauce.

For mains we had the Seafood Birds Nest ($22.50) and the Sizzling Scallops with Garlic ($22.50) ... both were delicious although it was probably a little bit of seafood overkill. The sauce on both meals was also quite thick.

Sharon had Chinese Tea and I had an Apple Cider and the total of the meal was about $63.

There are 3 Banquet Menus available ... $30, $32 and $34 per person ... we might go for one of those next time.

Overall it was a pleasant evening with good food and great company.

We went here for lunch to catch up with friends last weekend and as my friend and I had already had a big breakfast we were looking to share a few Tapas while our other friends were after something more substantial.

They shared the Lemon Pepper Calamari and we started with Chorizo and Prawn and the Cajun Fried Calamari Tapas. The entree size Lemon Pepper Calamari at $14.50 was quite substantial and while the Tapas are reasonably priced at $9.50 they were quite small ... so small in fact that even after our big breakfast we ordered more and tried the Patatas Bravas and the Chorizo Croquettes ... all of them were really tasty but once again quite small.

Our friends had the Moroccan Chicken Salad which was on the specials board and the Pancetta Bianco (pasta with Pancetta and Mushrooms) both of which were $25. They said that they were both delicious.

Drinks here are quite expensive - $7 for a schooner of Boag's Draught or $9 for a Corona.

Overall it was a beautiful afternoon spent on the deck in the sun ... make sure you take your sunscreen if you plan to sit on the deck (although we spied a container of sunscreen at the end of the bar). There is a big TV on the deck as well and the Cricket just happened to be on so when the conversation was lacking due to eating I was able to keep up to date with the scores.

A friend of mine has recently tried the Paleo (Caveman) Diet and had been keen to try the Paleo Cafe in Mornington so went there last Saturday morning for a late breakfast.

My friend had the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and a Sweet Potato Rosti on the side while I had the BBQ Pulled Pork on Sweet Potato and Cauliflower Hash with Baby Spinach, Savoury Bread and Poached Eggs. Both meals were delicious although it was a little bit weird eating Pulled Pork for breakfast. The meals were substantial (I couldn't finish mine) and reasonably priced. We had Chai Latte (made with Almond Milk) and a Skinny Flat White for our drinks and the total came to just under $50.

The service was great and although there were not a lot of people eating in they were doing a great take away trade.

The Paleo Cafe also has a range of books on eating Paleo and a number of products available for sale to suit the Paleo Diet.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we look forward to going back again to try the lunch menu!

This restaurant only opened a few days ago (13/12/14) and we got take away from here yesterday.

We ordered the Satay Chicken Skewers (4 pcs) which are $7.90 and they were delicious although quite small. Definitely a serve for one! They have a wide range of Malaysian/Asian dishes across the menu and the prices are the same whether you get take away or eat in.

We had the Won Ton Noodles ($12.90) which were delicious although there was not a lot of soup to go in it. We also had the Char Kuay Tow ($12.90) which was delicious. The dearest thing on the menu is a couple of their Prawn Dishes @ $19.90 but most of the mains are between $12 and $16.

The service was excellent and very quick. A note about the Satay ... they are very small and if we knew that we would have ordered another entree/snack.

A simple menu based on Malaysian/Asian/Chinese ... I look forward to trying their Laksa on our next visit.

I went here just before closing time on a Friday night and they were still quite busy. I've tried the other Fish and Chip shops in Bayswater and Bill's is pretty good as far as quality, service and pricing goes. I had a piece of Flake, some fried Dim Sims and minimum chips and it came to about $10.

The chips are definitely the best that I have tried between the four fish and chip shops in Bayswater!

I've tried most of the Pizza places in the area and haven't been wowed but I went to Vinny's Pizza in Bayswater on Saturday night and got a large Supreme Pizza for under $10!!! The pizza was delicious and had heaps of toppings on it (including large prawn pieces) ... fresh, hot and tasted amazing!
