I've bought a futon from Japanache twice, five years apart, and only bought the second one because I needed to upsize - with weekly airing, my old smaller one is still comfy. I've seen other futon options in Australia, but they've all been too thick and hard to air/store.

Service is also great. Shipping was prompt, and they even sent me an email to make sure I received the package ok.

If you are researching the benefits of floor sleeping and are considering a Japanese shikibuton (Futon), there really isn't anything else on the Australian market that compares to Japanache. The product itself is extremely high quality and I couldn't fault the service what so ever. Prompt, informative and so proud of the product they sell. It may seem expensive but if you've done the research on how these authentic pieces are hand made in Japan it all makes sense. A true Investment in health and well being.

I purchased a futon in the semi-double size and I love it! It’s really comfortable and great for my studio apartment as I can hang it outside or store it neatly away and my apartment immediately feels twice the size as when I had a clunky western mattress and bed set up. I purchased a king sized futon and quilt with a traditional cover and two tatami mats for it to fit on.
Very easy to order online with lots of handy information regarding care of your futon and tatami mats.
It is so beautifully made that I didn't want to cover it with a sheet for the first day.
I have been sleeping on it for a week now and although it is a harder mattress than i am use to however, I am still finding it very comfortable.
It was delivered very quickly and packed easily enough to remove all items.

Bought Shikibuton mattress very close to christmas and messaged asking if it could be delivered before then. Arrived within 3 days. Brilliant service.

As to the mattress. Lovely quality. If youre looking at buying a futon for ergonomic reasons i definitely recommend it. Every time i lie down i can feel hips repositioning them selves. I have even taken to sleeping without a pillow and its helping with my neck and shoulder pain.
