I LOVE this place! I wish I lived closer, or wish it was closer to me!!! If you want REAL AMERICAN FLAVOR.. come here!!! The staff is always friendly. The service is always great. The food is to die for!!! It's gotten a lot busier since they've opened & they have expanded more too. This place could make even more of a killing if it was double the size!

As for price.. for Austrlian standards, it's not bad. But if you eat a lot like me while you're here, it may be a little pricey. But all-in-all you definitely get what you pay for! And so I don't mind spending a lot when I'm here. I do wish more places would serve variety like Misty's Diner did!

My favorite foods on the Menu would have to be the Jalepeno Chipolte Poppers; Chili con Carne; Chili Fries; Bucket of Wings/Buffalo Wings; Bleu Cheese & Cajun Burger; Chicken & Black Bean Quesadilla; and the Root Beer Float! These are the BEST! And I WISH other restaurants carried these items on their menu too! I would most likely be eating out every single day if that happened! lol. But of course, that's just wishful thinking.

Thank you Misty for providing these very RARE delicious foods for those of us who enjoy flavor!!! I'd eat here everyday if I could seriously! But the distance is far.. so, my family & I only go for special occasions such as anniversaries & birthdays.

EDITED REVIEW (after my last visit recently):

okay.. I have to Review again. I'm sorry. Normally, I absolutely love this place & the food.. but the quality has diminished since the 1st time I went about 4 years ago.. & ever since it seems as if it's been going down hill.

Misty was great.. as always but her servers that work for her now.. REALLY need to up their game. I used to be a server myself.. when I was younger.. and NEVER did I ignore customers as they did for so long. They didn't engage or seem to care that we were standing there for so long. I never received a smile from any of them. And the guy we had along with the others looked as if they didn't even want to be there. They looked tired & annoyed like they wanted to go home.

We were standing there waiting to be seated for about 30 minutes... until Misty noticed us and came to the rescue. After we were seated it took about 15+ minutes after to be served on & that was only because I stopped one of the other servers & let them know.

Also, the way they cleaned off the table was terrible. The girl even left 2 dirty glasses on the table.. (that I took off myself using napkins & placed on another table). I even mentioned them.. & she just walked away after she wiped with what it looked like a dirty rag. The table was very sticky & dirty.. (even after it was wiped) & the seats were a mess. I had to clean it off myself with as many napkins as possible... and being pregnant, I'm very cautious now about cleanliness.

So I was pretty disappointed in the servers. They look as if they need some new training to get that place back into shape. I actually am starting to prefer "TGI Fridays" over this place because they are super clean, service is great & the food is very American too. I'm sorry to say that.. as, this used to be one of my favorite places to go. :(

I truly hope that the servers will eventually begin to learn about service.. because *good* service is part of the American way.

Approximate cost: $20-30

Have to agree. I have been going to Misty's for close to a decade. However, last time was about 4 years ago (NSW based).

I recently went there with my partner for an overdue meal but found the service to be way below par.

30 mins after receiving the menu, a guy that seemed to be there against his will served us. Food was okay.

Wanting to try more, we asked for the menu again. 45 minutes later (with two booths occupied) staff just trundled by. No one cared to serve us. We asked to see Misty (who was there) about the service. She made no appearance so we had to go elsewhere to eat.

The decor is great and the American fare is what you would expect. The service is non existent. The owner needs to realise that there are two sides of the coin in the service industry and one of those sides is failing dismally.

Thanks for the memories and Eszlee's TGIF tip.

I love the decor they use at Misty's 1950's. Vibrant colours, and little things that make you think "it's so cool". Misty's serves American food (think TGI Friday but better) and they also sell some American snacks, candies and drinks. In terms of the taste, this is probably one of the best American food you can find in Melbourne (if you are not a fan of American food, then you probably think there is nothing special about it. This is a review strictly comparing it to other American restaurants in Melbourne). I've tried the 24hr pulled pork french roll, the stuffed potato skins, the bucket of wings, Reece's pieces thickshake, and pumpkin pie thickshake. All the food were certainly better than what I expected. The sizing was quite generous but the bucket of wings may be a little misleading. It's really only around a dozen of them and for $20 a bucket, that's a little steep. The french roll comes with skinny fries and a dipping sauce for the side. My husband loves the sauce that comes with the fries. The potato skin was good too but nothing too different from other place (I probably should have been more daring and ordered a different stuffing - ordered bacon and cheese). However, it's the thickshakes that I would really come back here for. They are just soooo good. Especially the Reese's pieces thickshake. It's a peanut butter flavour, with cream on top and chocolate sauce, and some crunchy candies. I wasn't even a fan of peanut butter and was really worried that it might be too sweet, or just sickening but it's not at all. Love it! Certainly the best thickshake I ever had. I highly recommend coming here to try the thickshakes and just to enjoy the decor and the music (love the 50s songs!).

It's a cool unique place, with friendly staff, especially on the quiet week night we went. The decor is fun and friendly, with the whole 50's diner vibe. Prices were reasonable, and the range of food is quite good. The chilli poppers were reasonably nice, but the food in general can be quite stodgy, even for the kind of food it is. Those refried beans on the chilli fries was pastey and not very appealing. If better quality ingredients were used, I'm sure this place could become an even better experience, and worth coming back to again and again.

If you are after a junk treat this is the place. Fun 50's American diner style surroundings, American wait staff, american lollies and drinks and lots of great burgers and hot dogs. A great place to go with a group of friends - it gets busy though make sure you book

Approximate cost: $10

We ate here a while back before seeing a movie. The diner is in a good spot – just a short walk off Chapel St, and plenty of parking outside.

I wasn't blown away by the décor – the 50s kitsch is laid on fairly thick, giving it a bit of a tacky feel. The booths are great, but the two-seater tables running down the centre of the diner aren't very private, and I felt like we were being watched by others as we ate.

The food was really great though – the bourbon burger was delish, and the fries… mmm! We wouldn't go out of our way to return (we live a fair way away) – it was more of a once-off treat, but if we were in the area again we'd probably drop in for some American fare.

Approximate cost: $20

Went here last year for a dinner with a few others and have to say was a fun night but the food and service were so so. The restaurant itself was great, classic old school diner thats for sure, makes you want to go to the states, bit of fun with the jukebox at the table, it was fun. Now for dinner my partner and I got the wet fries and i guess i should of known what i was in for there, as they weren't fries with a bit of gravy they were drowning in it and along with the cheese, this was ok for a few bites but gets a bit much. The burger was great, big and tasty, my partner had a hot dog but the bun was pretty dry and the dog itself wasnt much. A fun night out with friends or family but dont expect heaps from the quality of food.

Approximate cost: $15-20

A novel little place to check out the decor, but the food and drink is nothing spectacular. You get a large feed, but the quality is somewhat lacking. The staff on the register seemed to be all over the place and couldn't quite get what we ordered right. When we played a special song from the Jukebox on our table we could barely hear it. Wouldn't rush back, but interesting to go and see what it would feel like to be in Grease, minus the hair gel.

Approximate cost: $20

Met at Misty's with my brother and cousin for a good old feast! Thats exactly what we had and with all the chilli trimmings you could gather, unlike other places the chilli is actually hot (especially for those that like really hot stuff!)
To top off the night Misty herself came out from the kitchen and gave my brother a hug and said that next time to ask for her super special hot chicken wings that will be guaranteed to blow your mind!

Very enjoyable night at the diner. Probably hit my weekly calorie requirement for the week in one sitting. Overall high satisfied and would recommend
