They always have great service, friendly and helpful staff. It can be busy at lunch time and in the late afternoon just before closing. I was stuck in there after clsoing and the manager came to help me.

I have been a happy customer of this bank until they increased the monthly fee on my home loan from $8 to $10 and then just recently increased the restructuring fee to $500. And to top it all, their customer service is now overseas and every time they call they confirm my identity by asking for my date of birth or my address which I refuse to give. They say that this is a security measure for them. But what about my security?
Have to agree.... my partner was treated like a mere piece of dirt by the Loans Manager in the Canberra City office when he wanted to sell his home which he had paid off entirely, but sadly, it was cross linked to other investment properties. Had the woman been kinder in her dealings, we may not have felt quite so offended and upset, but basically her rudeness, officiousness and cold uncaring manner left us feeling terribly angry and upset. When purchasing a home, we took our business to another loans officer in the Bank and received much better service. St George really should look into the way some of their Managers treat customers, who should be valued and nurtured, rather than being treated like dirt!!!!!
I was putting in a deposit at the window and had forgotten my keys at the desk, it was until i had walked away from St george when the branch staff had chased after me 5 minutes away from the bank.
I had a situation where I left $200 in an ATM machine just before christmas. The branch staff were so helpful, a report was sent by them to head office and two weeks later my money was refunded to my account. This was my mistake and so the level of service afforded to me was really above and beyond.
I was a St George bank customer for 6 years but am not happy with the service the provide for everyday people. The fees are unreasonable & the complaints department are useless!

I have been with St George for about 10 years now and although they are a big bank with all the big bank problems they are still my choice. Their staff are always helpful and full of suggestions when asked about financial options.
They have a really good debit card account which you don't need to have a credit rating check like you do for other accounts and this account allows you to have an account that works like a credit card but uses your own money so your not getting into debt.

Great online banking system. Polite and helpful staff. Dragon direct is easy to use with immediate transfers to and from St George Accounts. Fast over the counter service. Reasonable bank fees.
Good online interest offering via dragon direct. Sometimes the best in the market, with even bonus interest from time to time depending on the deal going. The westpac takover will only make them stronger.
