Delicious coffee and really nice inside. I think it's just enough out of the CBD to never be overcrowded. Great for a quiet cup of coffee on your lunch break.
Approximate cost: $4.80
Dr. Pepper and English Jelly Babies. For that I can not fault this store.
It's really something special to see jars full of lollies that the adults probably have more of a longing for than the kids. The staff are always really friendly and it really does make me feel like a kid in a candy store asking for 300 grams of English Jelly Babies.
Approximate cost: $5.00
I usually find myself here after trips to K-mart, the coffee is nice and the staff friendly. Although it's part of a shopping center, it has the benefit of being just off to the side enough to be quite and relaxed.
Approximate cost: $9
A1 is a bit of an overstatement. They aren't fantastic but not terrible. It's central in Glenorchy so I pop in if I'm doing my grocery shopping there. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised other times I find myself back at Coles.
Something I do find really off putting is the staff at the checkouts are constantly bagging up various vegetables to sell by the bag in between serving customers.
This understandably makes some of them rather snappy..
Worth a look, but don't go out of your way.
The bread rolls are light and flaky, cakes rich and moist, I had the best danish I've ever eaten there. Honestly if all German baked goods are that good I may end up moving to Germany.
The store itself impresses me by being well lit and open.
Just across the road from Coles so well worth popping in after your weekly shopping.
Approximate cost: $7
Great value for money, the burgers and pizzas are huge! But very greasy. Cheap delivery to surrounding areas too, about $2.50!
Approximate cost: $8
Better value than the better known Op-Shops. Not as much stock as their competitors but they do a lot of amazing things for the community and for that I'll always gladly support them.
Delicious pizza! They offer some deals which rival the larger chain stores too, such as 2 large pizzas for $24. Pizza is also sold per slice, which is a rarity in Hobart. Overall a can of coke and a slice of pizza for $5.00 is fantastic for a quick and inexpensive lunch.
Approximate cost: $5.00
The Island Markets host a full second hand market on Sundays, Thursday - Sunday however they operate as a discount Fruit, Vege and Grocery store. Prices are cheap, although not exactly high quality. I've spotted a couple of moldy tomatoes ther before.. But you get what you pay for. They also have a seafood section there, which you can really smell. Cheap! But breath through your mouth!
I always feel sorry for puppies and kittens in pet stores. But this one really arcs me up. The poor animals are kept in tiny pens in a tiny store, noisy store. They do stock all your basic pet needs but it is really saddening to see the poor animals in such an inclosed space.
