Nice food. Their duck tasted like KFC.... weird
But at the end of it, I guess it was acceptable. Definitely nothing I'd come back for. But it's a nice place to come if you have a bunch of you and you want something chinesey, however there are better places.

Not to say I didn't like the food, but it's sooooo mediocre that I'm sure any restaurant would be able to serve it up should you ask.
The menu is uninteresting and you really wish you didn't choose this place.

However, this is only dinner. For lunch, they have the traditional Vietnamese foods which I have yet to sample. So dinner no, lunch... maybe yes?

As an occasional work lunch hangout or a casual dinner place, I like this place. Their dining area out the back is nice. They've got these long wood benches for lots of people and it's fantastic!
Currently (May09), they've got this deal going for lunch and dinner Thursdays to Saturday. 2 parmiganas and 2 beers for $20. Brilliant feed for 2 people!

Had passed it for many years and never once though to go in. But then we thought why not. So tried. There's nothing to complain about this place. It's very simple quality food for a reasonable price. As a bar/bistro, it works.
So nothing pretentious, and everything's straight forward. The actual bar section is family friendly and the gaming area is cordoned off.

I would like to leave this section with a simple "Don't come here", but I know I have to explain.
We just wanted a simple bite and nothing extensive. However, we ordered a couple of plates and got served. All good so far. But when we tried to leave, they said there was a minimum eat in orders of $10. This was sooo not explained anywhere in the shop or on the menu!
The food itself was par. Serving sizes could have been a little more. Service was reasonble I guess.

As a hotel restaurant, they have the budget to be different. And they've certainly delivered. An upstairs setting, you have to enter the lobby and go through their building to get up there. It's not a bad way of doing it. And once you're up there, it's something you don't see all the time. In the back streets of inner Adelaide, there's not a lot of chance seeing a bit further up if you don't work or live there.
I enjoyed not only the view and setting, but the service was top notch and the food was great. That and they had crocodile on the menu.
It's definitely a place to go if you're tired of the Hilton, Stamford and Hyatt.

This review is for Mapo Korean Restaurant, Adelaide SA

Much like all the other Korean bbq restaurants. Think Great River or Korea.
Whereas Korea is more upmarket and Great River panders to everyone as an eat all you want, Mapo is a sort of stuck in between. I remember they did have an eat all you want, but it wasn't as extensive.
I did like the difference. Whereas the other two are gas powered, this place uses coal. A bit non environmentally compliant, but it's a special touch that shouldn't be missed.

It's a nice restaurant with nice food and nice service.
Other than that, I don't have much else to say.
It is different from other restaurants, but then again, all restaurants are different from each other, else there wouldn't be any point adventuring.
I do like their follow up service though. They do on occasion send me reminders for things that are happening and birthday invitations.

For the price you're paying, there damned better be good food and service. This wasn't lacking. But still, we were amazed by the prices they were charging!
The 3 of us had steaks and drinks and the bill came to about $180. Luckily for me I had the Entertainment Book vouchers. Still, over $40 for a steak. Who in their right of mind can really command that type of price for a steak in Adelaide?
Definitely a once off till they improve their prices. And I can't see me going back anytime soon to check on it!
If anyone goes, can you let me know if the prices have come down recently?

It's one of those Westernised Asian places. Decent place to come if you want your standard fried noodles or quick Asian meals. But for the price you're paying, might as well use the extra couple of dollars for parking fees, the meal, and a couple of drinks at China Town.
Not saying it's bad, it's actually a decent feed, but as an Asian there's no reason for me to come here ever again.
