There are a lot of family long running chinese restaurants around this area. I find most of them non descript. That is there is no distiinction in the appeal and the speciality offerings. How good would it be for a chef or cook to come out of the kitchen and give customers a look at how they cook your meal or put up a look and see window of all the fresh ingredients or have a speciality of the day from so fresh meat and veg and list where they have come from. Personally I am weary of these places and only source from them as little as possible because of a lack of flavour and nutrition and the possibility of getting your palate excited. This place is on par with the rest but I can say that having imbibed over years due to working with people who wanted to celebrate in house or get take aways for special occassions that the food was well plated or delivered with clean outcomes and no bad experiences.

I can only add to the few who have spoken that this is worthy of a go. Authentic chinese is not possible in australia because so much has been adapted to suit our taste buds over the years. I look for real flavours of the ingredients not the sauces that accompany the ingredients so when I order beef and blackbean, I want to taste something other than the bi carb that the meat is soaked in to make it tender. I find the rice fresh and not reheated left overs with ingredients in good proportions at this chinese house. The decor is in need of a lift. Not 5 star but neither are the prices

A strange place for this kind of food but neverthe less worth the trip if you have European friends who miss the tastes of the continent in pastries and bread. Over the years I have been happy to visit this place to see what is new. A deli has been added and now the cold meats and cooked food can be added to a table for variety. I notice that Coles is getting some of its doughs baked there and shipped out here frozen. Well, this place does it all here every day and it is worth an educational visit and a taste of the baked cheesecake and the pig savoury meat delicacies. I recommend this for a bit of a different gourmet plate but get in early on the weekends because there is only so much a small place can prepare in a day

I give this one a special tick. When you are heading back into sydney then there is need to refresh yourself by eating something healthy. You can stop at all the BIG M's and the rest as you head into sydney around here but my choice is this lovely little fruit store. Even my local guys do not do as good as these because this store has been built on quality and understanding of the seasons and how to put together some great dishes with certain fruits and veg. It is not the cheapest but if you want something to enjoy in the car or for the next day then this is a treat of a story now comfortably into the next generation of family owners. TRY THEM for a fruit salad or that special piece that will just be the right thing

This business has had many owners over the years. For the last few years the owners have developed from just half cooked fish and back into the frier to fresh fish and battered crumbed or grilled on the spot. Fish is seasonal but no matter what I like mine tasty and not frozen and my last two experiences have been to see only BASA as fresh. The cooking in batter left my taste buds dead. The hamburgers ordered were in line with decent quality but the chips and scallops again were tasteless. I am supposing that I will by pass this business from now on not because they are unworthy but because you need to improve not just maintain your growth and style of business

Had a DIY project. Visited this store and asked for some time to discuss but while they had not one person in the store it seemed too much to discuss such a small tin of paint. I was not impressed and went elsewhere to Petersham. This is for Tradies and the prices for a small lot and a mix were not impressive or comparable. Not a place for the home hanyman or lady in my opinion

I am most impressed. I entered this place on recommendation from a very clever friend. I am not gifted when it comes to mixing and matching colours nor the finish or the quality. These folkd treated me with respect and gave me simple but good info about what I might do with my painting project. I wanted to do up an old wardrobe so nothing big but this place is a treasure trove of wisdom and resources for the professional to the little guy like me. I compared prices and came out feeling really confident of the whole experience and the job worked out well.

This is a full on newsagency parked right near the beach so that you can grab a paper or magazine and sit close by in peace and have a good read. I find the quality of service and full gammit of magazines and the shop itself to be a place to encourage sorting and finding that fulfilling info or goods. Cards are in great shape and variety and questions about the area are well answered because these are true locals.

I pass by and drop in for a sour cherry pie and baked fresh on sat mornings they are worthy of a good dollop of cream and half will satisfy. Pastry a bit heavy but some fresh tasty filling. I like the multi seeded bread with walnuts and a selection of sourdoughs with a light touch to them makes this a place for a visit

I have had some of the best cooked fish here and some of the worst. Again this food business is seasonal. I have had flathead so tasteless and so expensive that i wanted to cry when I took friends there and sat down in the sunshine. Other times I have had take away and waited up to half an hour for the best bit of flavoursome bream that I have tasted in Sydney. Just over the road from a lovely view of Botany Bay with sand and seats, this should be a flourishing business but I think time has worn down the hands that made it famous and a competitive offshoot to Danny's. New life is the name of the game in business. The steep entrance into the shop for a sit down is off putting for older people. The answers you get when asking about how fresh the fish is is not what I wanted and the menu is old and boring. The salads are greek in origin and the sides of chips potato scallops are not anything more than frozen and tasteless. Hamburgers are with out great flare so I am just noting that while it is not a waste of time to visit and imbibe, there are barbecues close by that will help your catch or purchase at the fish markets look very good and wholesome here.
