Stopping for a late lunch, we each had a pie and cake. Many of the pies were sold out but we were happy with our choices. I had a honey stick which was nice but quite cold. I'm fairly sure they're baked fresh so I'm not sure why the bun was so cold, but no complaints.
Love this shop! Friday night is takeaway and we usually have chicken and chips - still the best we've found. The chips are truly excellent, in my opinion. Nice staff and reasonable prices.
This has become a favourite place for fish and chips, which we then eat down at the beach. They have a regular special that has two large pieces of fish, chips and a lot of salad - for $9.90. It was too much for one person but was plenty for the two of us. Great value and a good meal!
Approximate cost: $9.90
It's actually called Cafe Ambra, not the other way around, but no matter the name, this is a really nice spot. Great atmosphere, table service from very friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices. A great place for a coffee and a chat with a friend.
The dear Old Maid is still going strong. Our craft group goes there for lunch every few months and it's always good. I like the range of typical pub food and the girls who serve them are mostly friendly and efficient. They did forget to make my hot chocolate, though! All good.
Approximate cost: $22
We needed a new fridge and found one that was exactly right to fit in a rather narrow area. The salesman, Peter Hlava, was very helpful and friendly, and we appreciated his knowledge when he answered our questions about the fridge.
This is a good store. Some items are scratch and dent, while others (like ours) were surplus stock.
Approximate cost: $900
This visit was a nice surprise. The previous couple of meals at the T.A. have left a bit to be desired, but my friends talked me into giving it another try.
I'm happy to say that it was really good! I had a chicken schnitzel, chips and salad and it was well cooked. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals, so I won't be so cautious in future.
Approximate cost: $18
Lovely cafe that's right on the river bank. Most of the menu involves seafood - not a schnitzel in sight. I had the fish (Murray Cod) and chips and my husband had a seafood pastie. Both meals were quite nice but pricey.
Approximate cost: $50
This is a very busy and popular bakery. We were lucky to find a table. The pies were nice, although my steak and bacon pie was fairly bland and I could neither see nor taste any bacon. Still, they were fine, as were the cakes we had. No complaints.
Approximate cost: $14
We hadn't been to "The Bucky" for a long time so we were looking forward to seeing how much it had changed when we went to a large function recently. Hmm... Thanks to a few extra people unexpectedly turning up, extra chairs were simply added, making it very difficult to eat or move. The hot food was mostly lukewarm at best and the chicken nuggets were so tough (and almost cold) that I could scarcely cut them with a knife. To be fair, the salad and dessert bars were pretty good. Would we go back? Not unless there is another function to attend.
