We've been to Warrnambool several times as the overnight stop after traveling the Great Ocean Road. Figsellers Cafe is where we choose to have breakfast every time. For the most part, we have had good food and the service has always been excellent.

I took my husband here for his birthday this year and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Excellent! The owner came by and talked to us and told us it's the only indigenous Australian restaurant in the country. Their tasting platter was the best because you could chose what you wanted to try, seasoned mostly with bush herbs and spices. Bush pepper...Watch out!

The only disappointment I had was that the wait staff were mostly Asian as were most of the guests. We were also there when an Asian (I think Hong Kong) film crew were there filming a food show in the restaurant. It took away from the experience, but I guess that was just bad luck.

I had ostrich as my main and my husband had kangaroo. If you're interested in trying a new flavour, this is the place to go. I have heard that they are moving, but haven't found out where to and when.

I went to the cafe because 1) Gloria Jeans was busy and there were no tables free there and 2) they have a children's play area. Well, I was slightly disappointed. I noticed that 2 of the 4 tables by the children's play area were not cleared, so when i ordered, I asked them to clean one of the tables so I could have my daughter play while I drank my coffee. Well, they didn't and I waited and waited until my coffee came and I asked them again to clean. Finally! Secondly, the children's area doesn't look like it's been cleaned in forever.

doesn't, the coffee was pretty good, but otherwise, it wasn't that great.

When I heard there was a new brewpub in the area, I was keen to check it out. I've been there a ouple of times, and while the beer is very good, it's also expensive, I believe $9.50 when we were last there. That's a LOT to me! We also shared a sandwich platter appetizer which had almost laughable sized sandwiches--you could eat them in 2 bites! And at $14, it was crazy.

The greatest thing though is the quality of the beer, and the service is quite good. I guess I'm just a little frugal!

We were looking in the Aspendale Gardens area to buy our first house back in 2007 and found a house we were interested in seeing. Phillips Nicholson was selling the house we were interested in. They are a bit different from other agents because they don't always have set viewings so we called to arrange a time to go through it. Kathy met us and gave us a look. We loved it and put in an offer which was accepted. Kathy was a professional and we enjoyed working with her.

On the other hand, because we had 6 months left on our lease, we decided to rent out our house for that duration. The 1st tenant decided to break her lease after 7 weeks and we were told that we would have to pay another letting fee to find another tenant. We were under the impression that if a tenant breaks a lease, THEY are responsible for the entire fee as THEY were the one who broke the contract. So, we wound up paying about 50% more fees than we were planning on due to this. We never got a good explanation of this.

Overall, we were happy with buying from them but we would never use them as a property manager.

I've taken my daughter (18 months now) there several times with others from our mom's group and really loved it. In October or thereabouts we went in and were told there were new owners. I haven't been there since but I didn't see any change. My daughter actually walked for the first time without holding on to anything when we were there! She loved that she could fall and not hurt herself because of the cushions on the floor.

There are different areas for the different age groups, including a baby section. All of the toys are really age appropriate and include a climbing area (my daughters too young) large "blocks" to climb on and over, a young toddlers section with jumping castle and other crawling toys etc.

The centre was clean when we were there and had no problems. My only complaint would be the time they close. I wish they were open til at least 5.

Approximate cost: $3.00-8.50

This review is for Gorgeous Flowers, Toorak VIC

verified email - 12 Dec 2010

It was my wedding anniversary and I had to, unfortunately, work all day and then tutor in the evening. My student lived in Toorak, so I thought I'd find a florist in Toorak to make up a bouquet for my husband (YES, my husband!) before I went to my student's home. Am I glad I found Gorgeous Flowers!

The florist was a wonderful woman. I explained that I wanted a reasonably priced MASCULINE bouquet to give to my husband for our wedding anniversary. She put together a mix of birds of paradise, banana leaves (I think) and some native plants.. It was great, and my husband loved it.

I read the previous review and am not 100% sure if it was under the same ownership as when she had her experience.

Approximate cost: $35

This review is for A Plus Dental Surgery, Chelsea Heights VIC

verified email - 12 Dec 2010

I noticed A+ Dental had opened when I was working out at Fenix and decided to make an appointment to have a checkup and get my teeth clean.

During my checkup I was told I had a cavity and needed it to be filled. I had the option to have it done right then and there or come back so I chose to get it done right away. I also have a broken, dead molar that I need to eventually get an implant for. She (I forget the doctor's name!) was able to build it up with a temporary fix (which is still holding up 3 months later).

My only complaint was that she had me hold up a mirror to "teach" me how to floss. Sorry, I'm just not a flosser, and did not like being patronized like that. Oh well! guess I need to floss.

I have HBA and they are a preferred dentist. They also had Hicaps to deduct the amt covered so I only had to pay the gap, which was very reasonable considering the procedures I had.

Approximate cost: $140 after insurance pmt

This review is for Tips & Toes by Paola, Berwick VIC

verified email - 12 Dec 2010

Paola Flury is a professional through and through. Right away when you walk into her salon, which is the front of her house in Berwick, you feel calm and relaxed due to the white with black accent decor. Paola is originally from Switzerland, and all of her training has taken place there. She told me she regularly goes back to update and retrain as necessary.

I went there last week for a pedicure and was thoroughly impressed with her professionalism and the work she did. Quite a different experience from the quick pedicures you get in the malls!

She does quite a bit, not just manicures and pedicures. She also does facials, makeup, waxing and other things to beautify us. :) I am planning to get gel nails done by her next, just to compare to my local nail technician.

I highly recommend her.

For the record, her husband and my husband are classmates (all are from Switzerland--I'm not!) so I met her personally first before using her services. This has NOT influenced my experience however!

Approximate cost: $depends on services--very reasonable!
