I haven't been to the breakfast that everyone raves about. Instead I have been there for dinner. The word BLAND is all I can remember from that night. I had a zucchini risotto. It was like eating rice, with zucchini and I know thats what it is but it had no flavour except for zucchini. It was pretty.. well.. bland..

The staff were lovely though and the place is set up nicely.

Both times when I have eaten here I have left happy. The chips: awesome! The fish: awesome! The tartar sauce that comes on a little shell: Awesome. The staff: Awesome. My visits were a year apart and the quality is still high upon returning! My favourite fish and chips in Melbourne!

Bleh to you Urban Burger. I have never had such a bland veggie burger.. So glad it was take-away and that I had a huge bottle of tomato sauce at home that I pretty much emptied over the burger for some flavour not mention moisture..

Why was my veggie pattie as flat as a pancake? why was my bun so dry? WHY??? Why was it so bland? salt, pepper, a bit of spice maybe? anything!

Someone really needs to rethink this recipe!

Yes, free samples always add points to a place for me :p It's rather average.. not great, not crap. Just cheapish food, kinda slopped together.. you even get the option of slopping it together yourself, if you so choose..

its a bit like going to subway, only with pita bread and falafel. The juice bar is alright and the place seems relatively clean. Get a voucher for a discount on your purchase and throw in some free samples and the place starts looking much better...

I have been here on a few occasions and each time i have been really happy with my burger, except during my last visit. I remember looking at the gluten free bun and thinking.. is the one they always use? have they gone for a new one? I do remember it always being more yellow and not having seeds. This new one is dry.. so dry that without a drink you will ending up choking like i did. In the end i ate the filling and ditched the bun altogether.

I'm hoping that this new/different bun is not going to start turning up at every grill`d, otherwise I'll be left with nothing to eat there but the chips. Which isn't so bad since their chips are awesome!

I was there, sitting at the table with a whole group of people. One of them I truly disliked and so of course THAT person ended up sitting next to me. But despite having someone I highly disliked right near me, I was highly enjoying my food. In fact, my food was so enjoyable that it somehow got me through the night. All night long instead of listening to the jabbering of the loudly annoying (and highly embarrassing) person sitting at the table with me, I sat there and focus on the wonderful taste of my food.

The dishes are truly authentic. My crumbed mushrooms were superb! and the sides of hungarian potatos and red cabbage where delicious... This is the sort of food I grew up with and its executed well.

It's amazing how much can change in a year! To the point where I no longer want to really step foot in this place. The last few coffees I had here have just been average or worse. I am judging this place more harshly because its held so highly in the coffee world and therefore my disappointment is just greater...

During one visit, I actually heard the barista tell another staff person that the grinder was off. The staff member then went into a mad fury setting it correctly. Yeah ok.. its going to be fixed up, but you know its off, why are still dishing out coffee? One of those was my coffees and it was far from great! Rather bad from a place that values the quality of their coffee so greatly.

After every visit, I was just that little bit more disappointed with the place until recently I asked myself, why am I even coming here anymore.. Turns out that my new fave coffee place in South Melbourne was waiting for me just around the corner...

This place is great if you're going with a group. You can order lots of dishes and then share them all, so you get a variety of things to eat and the individual price is still reasonable.. The dishes are varied and there are some interesting ingredient combinations. The staff are friendly and attentive and will help you out if you have any questions. Dishes are priced by their size so expect to pay more for a large fish, for example. The bigger your table is, the better value you get when ordering the more pricey menu items.

Oh as for the food itself. It was all awesome!

This place is just average in every way. Hailed as the place to go by the locals (who recommended it to me), I was left feeling empty after eating here. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I could cook the same meals myself at home. There was nothing special about it.

I guess it lacks something that would make me go "wow, this place is great, I would recommend it to someone and definitely go back".

The truth/reality: there a plenty of other places to eat at in Melbourne and I'd rather try something else next time.

This place just lacks any excitement in the food and atmosphere..
