Came here after a late night out for a friends birthday. They're one of few restaurants that are opened late in Melbourne, which is why we decided to come here. Should have done some research beforehand because this is not your average restaurant. The cuisine is very different - e.g., they had like smoked eel and foie gras. The prices were very high as well, chips in a cup were $10! My friend and I shared the gnocchi with ricotta cheese. For the price, we felt that the dish was way too small even for one person. The gnocchi was panned fried and very tasty but I've had better.

The staff were very friendly and the service was very good though considering there were 12 of us there and it was 2am in the morning. The restaurant itself was small and the furnishing had a lovely vintage feel to it.
The atmosphere seemed very posh and sophisticated as well.

Overall, good experience but I don't think I would be back, just because their menu wasn't really my cuppa tea and I felt for what you got, it was very expensive.

Came here again after our great experience the first time, but decided to get some Thai take away instead. This time, our experience was not great at all. Because we were ordering take away, we didn't have to wait to be served and could just order at the counter. We ordered the Panaeng Curry and Stir fried Crispy Pork Belly in a red curry paste (they ran out of the Pork Belly the first time we came here).

Anywho, we ordered and waited for around 30 mins for our meal before asking the waitress what was taking so long. She replied and said it was on the way. We waited for another 15-20 mins and still nothing. We asked her again and she went to check on the dishes and found out that their was an “issue” with the Panaeng Curry we ordered and that they're cooking it now. In total, we waited for about an hour for our food and thought that we might as well have dined in because the wait time was ridiculous.

When we went back to our hotel, we found out that they gave us a free dessert, which was nice. The panaeng curry itself was very tasty but the beef pieces were so tough that we didn't even eat it. The pork belly was so flavoursome and crispy though and I would definitely recommend this dish to others.

Our take away experience wasn't great, and the beef in the panaeng curry was terrible but I would still recommend this place to others looking for a good Thai restaurant (my other review for this Chat Thai was very positive).

Fantastic Thai restaurant in Sydney! My friend and I did some research beforehand and found some great reviews for Chat Thai online. We decided to have dinner here and arrived around 5:30pm, and there was already a group of people lining outside! When you get there, there's a sheet of paper where you write down your name and the number of people that you're with and whether you're fussed about sharing a table. Because there was only 2 of us, we only had to wait around 15 - 20 minutes for a table compared to the other people who got there before us.

I ordered the Stir fried Chicken with cashew nuts, some green veggies in a chilli jam, and some fluffy white rice. The chicken was so tender and cooked perfectly. The stir-fry wasn't too spicy as well and the cashews added some great texture to the dish.

The restaurant is pretty small and the tables and chairs are quite close to one another but they had an upstairs area as well. The staff were very friendly and the service in general was pretty good, though we did have to wait a while after we were seated for them to take our order.

Great tasting Thai food at a great price. I think this restaurant is a great place to go with a group of friends and order dishes to share. I don't think they take bookings in advance though I'm not exactly sure. If they don't, be prepared to wait, but the food is worth it.

This review is for Stokers Coffee Lounge, Ivanhoe VIC

Great late night dessert house and cafe in East Melbourne. Stokers opens pretty late so it's a great place to visit if you're slightly peckish. I had the crepes with caramel pears and it was delicious. The crepes came out very hot (including the plate), so I'm assuming that they were preheated rather than cooked fresh from the mix straight into the pan, though I should add that it tasted pretty fresh. The pears were canned but wasn't too sweet and worked perfectly with the caramel and the soft crepes.

My friend had the ice chocolate that looked absolutely delicious because they used chocolate ice cream rather than vanilla. I definitely want to try that next time! The service was very good and decor was very quirky. It's a shame that they're all the way in Ivanhoe so it's quite a drive. However for anyone in the local area, I would definitely recommend this place as a late night stop off. Ample parking just on the side of the cafe.

Great little cafe opposite Ormond station. I haven't tried the coffee yet, but I've had the chicken and avocado sandwich with baby rocket. The avocado is mixed with lemon and cheddar cheese (I think). The bread is very fresh and soft. They have other sandwiches and egg and bacon rolls as well, but no hot food available. Very quaint interior and will definitely be back.

This review is for Hurricane's Grill, Sydney NSW

This place is so packed it's ridiculous! When my friend and I were planning our trip to Sydney though, the first place we wanted to go was to Hurricane Grill. We arrived outside the restaurant around 5PM (dinner starts at 5:30PM) and there was already a long line! We thought we got there pretty early as well...! We stood there for around 30-45 minutes, but they were seating people quite quickly. Luckily there was only 2 of us, so we didn't have to wait that long (in comparison to other people who arrived before us) for a table. We were advised that we had to leave around 8pm, which was plenty of time to eat.

I ordered the pork ribs half rack with a baked potato and sour cream. The pork ribs were amazing! So tender and the meat just fell off the bone. The sticky barbeque sauce just coated the ribs - it was delicious! The baked potato was wrapped in foil and was cooked perfectly. It really did help balance out the barbeque sauce on the ribs.

Despite the wait, the service once we were seated was very good. We didn't have to wait that long for our food and the staff was very friendly. The tables near the window also have an amazing view.

Fantastic grill and steakhouse. I would recommend you book in advance if you can, otherwise, be prepared to wait. But it'll definitely be worth it!

This review is for Lindt Chocolate Cafe, Sydney NSW

Great little cafe in Sydney. Everyone probably knows of Lindt and their chocolates and macarons, but they offer some light lunch options. Went here for lunch after arriving in Sydney. Had the pulled pork sandwich with cabbage with a light vinaigrette dressing and English breakfast tea. The sandwich was absolutely divine and the cabbage salad with a light vinaigrette added a delicious tang with every bite.

The decor is very chic and they had lovely Christmas decorations up during the time as well, which really spruced up the place. It was a very quite atmosphere, making it a great place to go to to catch up with some friends. I felt that the tables were a bit close to one another though.

I would definitely recommend others to try the Lindt cafe for lunch.

This review is for Pancakes On The Rocks, The Rocks NSW

Best breakfast place in Sydney, hands down!

The food here is simple and nothing overly extravagent, but the food is filling and the price is very reasonable.

As a Melbournian, one of the biggest issues I had last time I was in Sydney was the lack of breakfast places and good cafes. Melbourne has Degraves St and a host of other great cafe places. Sydney has a whole lotta restaurants but nothing really for someone who just wants a big brekky.

Pancakes on the Rocks became our breakfast place of choice when we were here. It's a far trek from where we stayed but we were never disappointed. I always had the Pancakes and Sausages, which is basically a big breakfast, with sausages, grilled tomatoes, fried egg and 2 fluffy, thick pancakes.
The pancakes would be a lot better if they were thinner though.

The service is good and we didn't have to wait for a table (no booking required), though at night it gets a lot busier. This is a great breakfast place and is also one of the few restaurants in Sydney that's opened 24 hours! (They have steak and ribs here too... so a great place for dinner!)

This review is for Passionflower, Melbourne VIC

Passionflower is a great little ice-cream / dessert house in Melbourne. I'm not a fan of their menu options, as I usually prefer to order my own ice-cream variations. I love the durian ice cream and the lychee ice cream. They're so simple but I just love the flavours.

I've ordered their sorbet icecream combination with, mango sorbet, lemon sorbet and another blue sorbet with some canned fruit at the bottle and it was just gross. I haven't tried any of their other options though so I'm sure there's probably better ones to choose from. They also charge extra for fresh strawberries or bananas, because of the “poor weather conditions that means that supplies for these fruits are low”...

Service can be a hit and a miss on some nights as well.

They're open pretty late on Fridays and Saturdays so it's a great place to visit after some dinner or even for a catch with friends in the city. If you're looking for a late night ice cream place in Melbourne, Passionflower is the place. I also suggest that if you're not up for the "Asian" ice-cream flavours, they also have your classics like chocolate, vanilla, coffee etc.

This review is for Sophisticakes Of Melbourne, Melbourne VIC

Read about Sophisticakes on WOMO, but have never actually had the time to go to the Art Centre to visit the stall they have there. However, last time I was at the Night Market at Vic market, I told myself that it was time for me to try some of these cupcakes!

I had my first ever Red Velvet cupcake that night and it was absolutely divine. The cupcake was so light and fluffy, I would probably eat it without the cream cheese on top! In saying that, I would have probably preferred less cream on top - I just felt that it was too much, though I spoke to my other friends and they said that the cream was the best part.

I also had the New York, New York cupcake, which is a chocolate brownie cupcake with a vanilla cream and some chocolate chips on top. I decided to save this for the next day, and surprisingly enough the cupcake was still very fluffy and wasn't dry at all. Again, I felt that it could do with less cream on top. Overall, great cupcakes and will definitely buy them again when I'm at the Night market!
