After having a lot of trouble to get the size needed for tough, industrial grade work wear clothing, I found this place tucked away. It's in a small strip of shops at the Millers Road corner of Geelong Road, and you go into the service road. It's quite a large shop inside but jam packed with so much stock. If you can't find what you are looking for here - it probably doesn't exist. Industry rated and Australian standard work boots - there's a whole wall of boots from all sizes, ranges and prices are very reasonable for these costly items usually over $100.

The clothing racks are everywhere - Yakka, Cat, Can't Tear Em, Bisley, FXD and other brands of work pants, work shirts, high visibility gear, jackets, and many other clothing options for the tradesperson and well-dressed worker.

The range of sizes is impressive too, as I needed the upper size range of large and these were available in navy, black and Khaki choices.

Excellent service from a friendly gentleman who gave us a good deal on both the shirt and pants at less than the price of one of these articles of clothing else where.
Very highly recommended.
Also do embroidery, screen printing and digital printing.

Need a very quick meal between two appointments and came across this Pizza shop right on the corner of two very busy roads. There is some limited street parking, but down from the corner intersection.

Very friendly gentleman and he took care of my need to get a pizza very quickly - it was ready in under 15 minutes! So great helpful service there.

They have a great range of traditional and gourmet pizzas and at very good prices. Also available are risottos, chicken dishes, salads and pastas. The lasagne at $12 is very good as was the Hawaiian pizza. You can also ask for variations and customize your pizza. Pleasant shop and very clean. The garlic bread is also delicious.

It's a smallish place but there is limited eat-in capacity if you're not in a hurry. If you live local you can also order pizza on line as I heard a few local students say they did this.
Tasty Italian food, good value for money and hopefully next time I'll have more leisure to enjoy it fully.

This review is for Best in the West, Altona VIC

We were out for a drive on Saturday night and came across an old fashioned little strip shopping area in Altona. It's accessed by going around a roundabout from Maidstone St. Now "Best in the West" is a big claim to fame especially for a very small shop with basically a counter, big ovens, an ice cream fridge and about three tables. And so they don't quite live up to it. Maybe if they'd said "Biggest in the West" they would have been more accurate. We got three large pizzas, but really they were much more like family size - Very large indeed. And the toppings went to the edge and plenty of them like ham and mushrooms and chicken etc but the real let down was the lack of a really good thick, rich tomato puree base. There wasn't much and that made the pizzas, which would otherwise have been excellent, just middling. Garlic bread was $3.

Value was there with the very large "large" priced at $14. We sampled Capricciosa, Margarita and Kings Cross which includes chicken. There are many other varieties of their own making - some with hot salami, others with capsicum, onion and even spaghetti. All called some quaint names which I can't remember.

Two very pleasant gentlemen making and serving. No eftpos, only cash. Closed on Mondays. Gelati available in another floor fridge.

So if you go, and I would advise you to try them - make sure you ask for extra, extra tomato on the bottom. And watch out for the step on the way out, I nearly forgot about it. Easy parking across the road.

This is apparently the "new" place in town. There's a courtyard outside the supermarket with several shops and this is one of them. Bell St is parallel to the Melba Hwy. It was busy in there but service was very prompt and friendly, asking us what we'd like in each category of hot or cold food and drinks. The pies were nice flaky pastry and good, tasty fillings. The pizza and cheese rolls were very large and had lots of topping. The traditional iced doughnuts and apple scrolls were fresh and yummy. But they also had a large range of new and different flavours of pies and slices and a large variety of gluten free cakes which looked delicious.

Nice tables to sit in or could sit outside. We all enjoyed our lunch and it was quite economical at under $20 for the four of us.

This review is for Zorba's Fish And Chips, Altona VIC

This is a great little find of a fish shop. Don't know how I haven't found them before. But they are sort of side-lined in the one way street parallel to the Railway line and Altona station. You can't turn right from Pier St but have to come around the block from the back to angle parking. It's a smallish shop, very pleasant and clean and very obliging owner who was almost ready to close up but said he would still cook for us.

It's the "old style" of fish and chip shop - where you still get the extra potato cake than you ordered. The chips, dim sim, potato cakes and fish were all extremely fresh, and tasty, not overcooked at all but melt in the mouth. Batter light and crispy.
Most menu items are all great value - flake was $5 for a good sized piece, four sizes of chips to choose from, including a "cup of chips" for $2.50. Lots of packs available such as a family pack and dinner pack etc. Flake pack was $8.50 for a flake, potato cake, dim sim, calamari ring, chips and lemon and tartare sauce. Burgers and souvlaki also available.
Open Mon - Thurs and Sat 11.00 - 8.00, Fri to 8.30 and closed on Sunday.
We parked by the water in the evening, ate our fishy delights and walked on the sand. A very pleasant outing for the start of the school holidays. My one regret - I didn't get a deep fried Mars bar for $2. Next time!

This review is for UCAN Cafe, Williamstown VIC

A stunning idea and I don't know why they don't do more advertising to let people know it's there. This gem of a little cafe is part of Williamstown library, so you can relax between studying, but it also has a back entrance and lovely tables and deck behind the Town Hall complex and the car park of the supermarket. It's main aim is to provide real jobs with real wages and wonderful life skill opportunities to people with a disability through the auspices of Yooralla. Young people get training and assistance as well as providing a needed service in the area. And all without seeming like "charity".

They have delicious fresh made foods for breakfast and lunch - tart and salad $8, and really yummy filled rolls. Also do catering. Coffee was wonderful and only $3.30. Sweet treats too. You can sit in or out on the deck area. Cash only and open from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm.

I was served by a friendly young man and another skilled lady made my coffee and actually put three sugars in it and stirred it without raising their eyebrows at me like some people do. They have a coffee loyalty card and I'm sure I'll be back. Hope they do very well.

This review is for Santoni Pizza Bar, Hawthorn VIC

verified email - 26 Aug 2014

The Santoni Pizza Bar underwent a refurbishment and reopened as more than just a "pizza place". There is a rooftop garden and an extended menu of pastas, plates to share (like corn fritters and beer battered chips ) and desserts as well as pizza of course. But the prices have taken a hike as well. On this occasion the gnocchi was very nice with a bolognese sauce, and the service was friendly and quick. At $24 it would want to be good and average pizza price is around $22 as well. They said the would be happy to welcome me back, and one day I might just go.

This is a really great pizza restaurant, and they don't only have pizzas, you can choose from some mouthwatering treats such as chicken schnitzels and parmigianas, pastas and salads.
Located in the pleasant Pier Street along with many other eateries, there are tables outside and comfortable and homey seating inside. Staff were excellent, taking orders quickly, bringing drinks, offering extra plates for our "shared" pizzsas and cleaning up the dishes.

There are traditional pizzas such as margarita and cappricciosa which two of our party had. They were excellent - good toppings and delectable dough. Three of us tried the wood fired offerings - one with satay chicken, one with a chicken hawaiian and one with roasted capsicum and potato. They were all delicious and I liked the fact that they weren't uniformly round - the slightly misshapen size let you know they were truly hand made fresh for you and the waiting time was very short as we snacked on lovely garlic bread.
Prices very reasonable - from $8 to around $15 for various types. Plenty of soft drinks on offer. Our group's bill was just over $80 for 5 pizzas, 4 drinks and 2 garlic breads.

So this place has it all - comfortable and friendly atmosphere, staff who know their job, good good and great prices. With the beach and pier a stone's throw away, it's a great place to visit anytime. Highly recommended.

This review is for Mattelles Cafe and Catering, Ballarat VIC

This was a nice little cafe, tucked out of the common way around the streets of Ballarat. We chose it because it wasn't "frightening" by being full of beautiful people. It was a nice normal place, tables and chairs, counter and music low. It's in the arcade where you can walk through to Myers and offers hot and cold drinks, gourmet sandwiches for $5 - 8.00 and large and interesting servings of breakfasts and lunches for about $12 - 15.
Staff brought our coffee to the table and although not quite strong enough for my taste, it was quite good. A nice place to just relax and watch the shoppers go by and not have to wear your upmarket gear to be seen in.
Also had an array of yummy biscuits and slices on offer in the front counter as well as fresh made meals from the kitchen. Coffee was $3.70.

A simply wonderful pizza shop - pity they are not closer. Friendly people, nice to eat in, place very clean and neat. Pizza itself - half meatlovers and half Hawaiian - was tasty and full of toppings, cooked to perfection. They also have gourmet pizzas, pastas, risottos, chicken dishes, beef and salads. Prices quite reasonable for such a quality product at $15 for large pizza. Meal deals available too. Highly recommended.
