Stayed at this lovely park on our way to Sydney. The gardens and surrounds are beautifully kept and the owner will show you his pet cockatoo and his tricks. Made us feel at home immediately.
Our Standard van was more like a Deluxe at other places, there were three bedroom areas, two of them with bunk beds and one a double bunk and then a double bed separate. It had an ensuite of shower, toilet and basin and a pleasant kitchen with a table area for dining and also a couch and TV set up. Very clean and attractive. Ample car parking space next to the cabin.

There's a playground, camp kitchen, large amenities block for campers and a lush lawn area for tents.
Wish we were staying longer.

A group of friends and I gathered here for a birthday celebration and a whole lot of dumplings were consumed - there were three main varieties we chose - chicken, beef and prawn. The first two I enjoyed a lot but the last one, not so much. Others in our party had noodle dishes which were enjoyed and service was good if a touch slow - but there was a lot of us. Price was very good. Would come again.

This review is for Flake Attack Fish & Chippery, Mount Waverley VIC

Very glad I stopped here for a meal on the go. Flake was lovely - hot and juicy. Tasted so fresh and cooked very nicely. Price was good too - 2 flake and chips was $17 and this was for very generous servings and a decent sized portion of fish. There's a few to choose from in this take away spot along Blackburn Rd - pizza, noodles and a bakery but I'm happy I chose Flake Attack and would certainly come here again. Some on street parking right out the front and it's in a service road so no busy traffic to worry about - think it's called Pinewood shopping centre.

This review is for Cooli-Yo Frozen Yogurt, Altona North VIC

Although I miss the shop which used to be here with the awesome mint milkshakes, this new business at the bottom of the escalators is a tasty treat alternative. Cooli-Yo offers soft frozen yoghurt with a myriad of toppings to tempt your taste buds. They're situated between Priceline and Best and Less just at the bottom of the escalators of the food court and have some tables and chairs provided for you to sit down and enjoy a break between purchases.

It's a self serve type operation - you choose the cup size and then walk the bank of frozen yogurt machines to fill your cup - we tried the Wildberry (very delicious) and the Lime (flavour burst in your mouth). Also has chocolate, mango and a couple more, I think. Then it's over to the toppings bar to add that personal wow factor - crushed Oreos, gsour worms, passionfruit sauce, M and M's, Kit Kat pieces, sprinkles, crushed peanuts, gummy bears are some of the delights on offer. Then you weigh the cup and this is how your charge is calculated so ... warning - don't overfill or you'll be a little taken back. The two cups we had today with generous serves were just over $8. They also offer tiny shot glass tastes if you aren't sure, and the nice thing of today was the pleasant lady who was the serving staff offered me a loyalty card which gives you 50% off your 5th visit and a free one on your 10th.

A nice addition to the food court at this shopping centre. A simple idea which works really well.

This review is for Tara Treasures, Melbourne VIC

I came across Tara Treasures at the Kensington Festival and there are a list of other markets and festivals they attend with their brightly coloured stall of beautiful handmade treasures - St Kilda festival, Queen Vic Market etc. The most beautiful handcrafted items you could ever wish to see and they are ethically sourced from the Himalayas, giving Nepalese and Tibetan women some income and independence.

The superb mobiles and decorations for nursery caught my eye - especially the subtle and exquisite knitted squirrel mobile as well as garlands, decorative banners etc. They also have sweet hand puppets, little purses and bags and a whole host of other items for children. Also have lovely jewellery, but it's the brightly coloured, hand stitched, made-with-love items that really impressed me. Prices were good too and you know you are helping women and girls. I bought a lovely animal felt brooch for my daughter at $6 or two for $10. I really wanted a fun pencil topper and slippers too, but for me, not her. LOL
Lovely people and could probably get something made if they don't have what you are looking for.
If you don't catch them at a market, you can order on line - free shipping over $60.

This review is for Matilda's Hot Bread Bakery, Kensington VIC

Open for lunch on Australia day and not too crowded was what sent us in here, but I'll certainly be back when in this area. The BEST steak and mushroom pie I think I've ever had. Light, flaky pastry, very tasty meat and lots of juicy mushrooms and no lie about "hot bread" it was really hot inside. I hate cold pies! My friend had the steak and onion and reported just as much enjoyment. All the baked goods looked wonderful and the Neenish tarts were obviously home made being huge and dome shaped and full of delicious gooey filling and jam. Good drink choice and also a hot bar with chicken sticks and egg and bacon etc. Sandwich bar for fresh rolls and sandwiches too.
Great little shop and lovely, friendly staff.

Approximate cost: $4.10 for a pie

You can't come to a seaside location and not eat fish and chips. Parking is a bit of a problem but we found a side street. There were no tables outside so we had to eat it inside at one of the 3 tables available so it was a little on the hot and stuffy side. Fish was well priced at $5 each and a very large serve of chips for $5 also. Needed a little more salt added to it. Fish was good quality and batter not too heavy. All in all, it was good but not quite worth a great. Other menu items available and good drinks fridge. Also situated very near the the tiny U bend street which bears the grand name of "Esplanade" which seems to be the only way to get down to the beach here as there's no road along it. Would come again and maybe try something else.

This review is for Villa Cafe, Patterson Lakes VIC

We were looking for a nice place to stop on our drive and found this group of shops which includes a supermarket on the inside but is lined on both sides of the outer wall by small shops of many varieties. The Villa cafe is on a corner of a sort of "laneway" and pleasant views of Patterson River can be seen at the end. As well as coffee, specialist biscuits and muffins some more substantial food can be had with an Asian flavour like Vietnamese Pancakes and Pork rolls among a few dishes. Also a delicious flavoured ice cream fridge. The cappuccinos were nicely strong and good amount of froth, chocolate muffin large and soft and passionfruit tang ice cream just divine.
Initially I was considering take away but the very gracious lady persuaded us to stop on one of the pleasant outside tables and insisted on bringing everything out to us with great service. Very good prices too. Well worth a stop.

Just found this amazing business for everything to do with engineering, automotive, safety gear, pumps, bearings ... anything to do with machinery and it's real stuff. Not the occasional handyman stuff - this is serious business. Great quality and range, especially in hose and pipe fittings which is what we were after. Can be a little lacking in shop service at times when the tradies are wanting large orders so you can wait until you want a bunch of stuff or you can order online as well. Also have tools, ladders, welding equip., storage ... so much. Very well worth a visit if you are more serious than just a weekend warrior in regards to building or maintenance or machines.

This review is for Arrows Plus, Point Cook VIC

Just found this wonderful place for a children's activity with a difference. Archery is one of the most fun plus safe sports there is. And if your son is as crazy about bows and arrows as mine, then this is the place to go. They were able to fit us in at short notice (his actual birthday day) and answered emails promptly. Also very friendly to deal with on the phone.

From the highway, take the Hoppers turn off, but don't go right over the bridge, turn left past the service station and loop back around approaching the highway. There is a bank of small factory type places and Arrows Plus is towards the end. It's a large, clean facility with a shop for some snacks as well as all your archery needs.

We joined a "Come and Try" session of an hour for $15. There are also other youth courses and you can join the club for more mature and skilled practice as well as competitions if you want to.

The large space of the shooting area only allows seven participants at a time. Safety rules are followed an all equipment is provided, like arm guards, finger covers and the bow and arrow - choice between the more traditional shape or the modern compound bow.

My three had an absolutely fantastic time and couldn't believe the hour had gone so fast. The instructors are helpful without being intrusive and let my lot move their targets back when proved to be able to shoot at that range.
We'll certainly be back. The website contains all the information you need for opening times and classes but they are open on weekends which is great. And I must say too, it's a sport for all ages and sizes and nationalities - today there were small children, up to adults and older mums. Everyone has their own target to shoot at their level. Tables and chairs for the unlucky ones who are waiting for the archers. Ample parking out the front.
