Wow, where do you begin to describe the worst food you've ever had? Anywhere. Ever. We stopped by for dinner this week and we were served absolute garbage.
We both had bruschetta - there was so much olive oil dripping from the 1 small piece we each received (total rip-off) that I couldn't eat mine. It was just foul.
My husband ordered spaghetti & meatballs and I ordered lasagne. Beef lasagne. Except there was absolutely no beef (or anything else, other than tinned tomatoes) between the lasagne sheets. It tasted like tinned tomatoes mixed with tomato paste. There was absolutely no béchamel sauce. Not even the tiniest amount of cheese! There were some miniscule grains of mince throughout the 'sauce' but that was also the extent of the beef.
The spaghetti & meatballs tasted like dry nothing. After a few bites we paid and left. Never to return again. When we left my husband noticed there were 2 old ladies in the kitchen doing the cooking. Seriously, a 5 year old could have cooked a better meal. Luckily it cost us $53 for a tiny entree of bruschetta, 2 mains and 2 beers.
How could the owner not know how bad the food was? It didn't even look like lasagne!

Approximate cost: $20

Very little has changed since my original review last November. The male staff seem OK but the regular female staff can't even be bothered saying hello when they serve you at the checkout. Also seems more important to the staff to chat to each other when serving & you'll be lucky if you even get an acknowledgement. Really over this place - over-priced and the quality of fresh food is below par. Also frequently see mould on bread & stock that's out of date. Clearly the manager/owner is disinterested in the level of service & quality for nothing to have changed in almost a year. Unfortunately there's still no major supermarket in North Melbourne & the other IGA closes at 7pm!

We came here on Friday night for dessert after an excellent dinner at a Thai restaurant (that's another review). We were plonked down at an unset table after it was established we were only after dessert. We both ordered the Bombolini ripieni (3 hot cinnamon sugared donuts filled with vanilla pastry cream and accompanied by melted milk Lindt chocolate) and 2 hot chocolates. The hot "chocolates" were no more than very average tasting cocoa poured into glasses which we couldn't pick up because they hadn't bothered placing a serviette around them. Very disappointing, and at $5 each we were scratching our heads how an Italian restaurant could be so slack using something we can buy in a box at the supermarket.

When the waitress eventually came to set our table she placed the fork and spoon in different positions (at a pricey Italian restaurant the cutlery setting should actually matter and be correctly set) for each of us, sans serviettes. I've had better care taken with table settings at a burger joint.

When the waitress delivered our desserts we had to ask for serviettes and she responded with, "yeah, when I brought the cutlery I knew I had to bring the serviettes but I forgot". The desserts came with melted Lindt chocolate. I tasted the Bombolini without the chocolate sauce and could just make out the taste of the cinnamon they're supposed to be dipped in and the so-subtle-you-could-miss-it flavour of the vanilla cream filling. The dough was, well, doughy.

Overall we had the distinct impression that you're not valued as a customer if you only come for dessert (2 desserts & 2 hot chocolates was $38). This restaurant needs to improve its service and treat each customer the same. After all, we only came for dessert this time but had intended to return for dinner at another date. Needless to say they didn't get their desserts right and didn't make us feel welcome, so we won't be returning. The irony is that the owner was sitting at the table behind us, so clearly below par service for one course customers is acceptable. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants around.

Consistently good pizza. In the past week we've ordered from there 3 times (might have to give it a rest before we explode). Well priced & a good variety.

Really great coffee, excellent service & the food is really good. There is a great variety in the menu & I think the owner, Frank, has great customer service & is so friendly.

I cannot recommend these guys enough. We relocated from Brisbane to Melbourne & Jetpets took care of transporting our cats down. They looked after everything - booked the flight, provided the cages, picked them up from our place in Brisbane & dropped them at our place in Melbourne after taking them to & from the airports. It's a bit pricey but it saved a lot of stress as they looked after them really well.

We must have gone on a bad night! We walked in on Tuesday night & were surprised at how grotty the place was. Instead of walking out, which I wish we had, we ordered. The burgers themselves were pretty tasty but the chips were old & looked re-cooked. The toilet was disgusting, with a floater there to greet me. Obviously the staff can't check the loos all the time but it didn't add any joy to our experience. Overall, the place needed a good clean & we won't be back.

Staff unfriendly & unhelpful. Nobody looks happy which is a shame since they're working in customer service but clearly don't want to be.
