Not enough space to describe how bad our experience with Aami has been over the last 6 months while trying to get our car claims for hail damage processed.

The repairer they were going to make us go to was not going to be able ti fix our car until 11 moinths after the event. Only after we went and got other quotes that were half that of the Aami repairer they changed.

We have been twice given information (I have dates times and names or Aami person) that impacted on decisions we made (in one case writing a car off) only to be told by an alternative Aami person down the track that they are not honouring what was said.

We have been hung up on numerous times - at the time we were not using insulting language, we were not threatening, we did not swear - we were asking to have an issue escalated or speak to manager.

They do not return calls they say they are going to.

Hold time to get to speak to someone is generally way too long - anywhere from 20 minutes to 1hr 20 minutes - even 6 months after the storms of Melbourne.

After being a member for 15 years - NEVER again.

We cancelled our policy with AAMI but were going to insure our brand new car with them. There was a two week gap between selling old car and receiving our new one.

They told us we would be charged a fee even though we were going to use them again and we were told they would waive this and our refund would be posted out.

Forward a week or so and we receive the cheque with the fee taken out! I ring, they read out the notes confirming this was said but still won't waive it.

When I rang the ombudsman, the notes were miraculously nowhere to be found!

If they are like this over a small fee I don't trust them to pay out if needs be.

Needless to say I will never use them again.

Liars, dishonest and no integrity at all. Terrible.

I was NOT lucky I was with aami!! Prices are ok, but if you actually need your car fixed don't bother! My car was unfortunately a victim of the hail storm. I waited a while to get booked in (didn't mind as the damage was more cosmetic) and my car was away for 4 weeks being fixed. It was re-painted and I got it back with scratches, drips of paint and even fingerprints in the paint!! My car actually looked better with the hail damage! They wanted me to wait to be booked in for an assessment again, then had my car repaired again for another 4 weeks! No apology, no free rental car, no nothing. The communication was also terrible I was told my car was finished, then contacted the repair to pick it up only to be told it's not finished, and this happened more then once!! I can't believe such a "reputable" company would do such a terrible job!

I have been with them over 4 years and am a ruby driver but the prices dont seem great I pay $99 a month and have never made a claim but it does not seem to come down in price for being loyal . They seem to have the best cover though

I insure my car with aami and have not been disappointed, their prices are excellent and give really thorough coverage they even cover your clothes if they are damaged in an accident. The service is top notch and i now wouldn't go anywhere else.

AAMI is our car, home & contents insurer. We are quite happy with their service. When I had to claim car insurance in an accident, I took it to their depot in Bella Vista to have it accessed and left it with them to recommend the smash repairer. They give a complimentary taxi ride back to your home or office and when you have to collect the car.

I had to submit a claim for a cracked windscreen. The incident occurred late on Friday 21/10 so I didn't attempt to call AAMI until Monday 24th. I spoke with only 1 person within the insurance team who advised that I had purchased the replacement windscreen option (at only $49 a year) so I was eligible for a full replacement windscreen free of charge, without having any impact to my policy or rating. The phone call lasted no longer than 5 minutes with the promise that a representative from the glass company would phone me within 24 hours. Later that day I received a call from the glass company, they scheduled me in for Wednesday morning between 9am and 12pm and asked me to allow at least 1 hour for installation. The windscreen man showed up at 9:00am and was all finished by 9:30am. That's less than 72 hours from my initial claim to my repairs being complete and with AAMI being substantially cheaper than other insurers, I would highly recommend them on price, customer service, quality and efficiency. No fuss insurer!

A minimum of an hour on hold for their claims department (Car) and their fine print is reinterpreted by each person you speak to. Originally told $500 per child carseat in written off car (top level cover) but later told $500 overall. Bad luck if you had three good quality carseats, particularly if you can't afford to replace them with equivalents. Complaint letter ignored and request for callback ignored. Rating One for Life only applies to the car, not the person and they word themselves very cleverly.
