I am absolutely appalled at the customer service and the way I was treated by ING. I was travelling through South America in which I had notified them about and my card was blocked when trying to purchase flights home. I then went to use my ING app and online banking to find that those were both blocked as well. When speaking to customer service they left me high and dry with no way to access my money which left me stuck in South America with no concern or remorse. I have been an ING customer for many years but this made me sick to my stomach and I would definitely recommend avoiding this bank. There are much better, friendlier banks out there now that offer just as competitive rates.
Avoid, avoid, avoid. Ing Direct used to be a good bank and cut to now after being a loyal customer for what seems like over 10 years they made my account inactive where I could not access my funds.
They asked invasive questions for data collection and because I did not get back to them they shut down my account and would not allow me access to my funds. My card would not work and luckily I had cash on me which normally I don't.
They said it was due to identification verification yet I still received a text and answered the qualification questions and they were more than happy to discuss my account. Gaslighting at it's finest.
If they weren't sure who I was then why go that far?
I have since cancelled my account with them and ironically they consolidated and transferred all of my funds to a friends account.
If it was identification verification then why do this, wouldn't it be so irresponsible of them?
Hypocrites.
I have come to know since my experience that they are randomly shutting down people's accounts has been in the news.
Sign with a bank where you don't have to wait on hold for over 45 minutes like ING Direct.
Dont support a foreign bank. Support an Australian bank who will guarantee access to your own money and the money stays within our own economy.
Absolutely fantastic bank! Always great offers on. Best bank with little service fees!! Would recommend to anyone and everyone
Honestly I would not recommend ING direct. Opened Orange everyday account to get a $100 Bonus. Not received. Surprisingly Bank account could be opened with no ID details Just a Name and a DOB
Watch out. They steal money from international deposits. Someone overseas sends you money? ING do not mention any fees. The money arrives and $25 has disappeared. ING claim it is nothing to do with them, but a third party bank THEY use. Therefore it is a charge by ING and they do not mention it in the PDS.
I put personal term deposit to be automatically renewed for another term upon maturity. On the last of 7 days of 'cooling period' i checked the rates and saw how sharply they have dropped. Called ING trying to select another term deposit. However, ING call center operator after I explained the purpose of my call dropped the phone and when I called back my account was disabled for the unknown reason. I was promised to be contacted within two hours (even though its a 24/7 service), but as you might guess - nothing happened after two hours.
I co uld not believe that I was lock out of my own account in the few hours window left to change conditions of my term deposit.
I have used these two hours to do my homework and find a better option for my money to be managed.
And I did find a better bank with better rates.
I have been with ING for almost 15 years and never planned to move anywhere else, but after been locked out of my own account for no reason and no means to resolve this, I know that I will NEVER go back to ING. NEVER.
Be careful with your money, check the rates regularly because ING, along with their customer service, [redacted generalisation]
The best range of banking products by far - from everyday accounts, mortgages, savings accounts and more. I moved all of my accounts and I it was the best thing I did. They are immensely quick to pass on interest rate decreases and always the full amount. No account or ATM fees on their transaction account either means I get to keep my money. Couldn't be happier.
I have been with ING for almost a year now and it's been a great relationship. For starters they have a fantastic visa pay wave promotion where you receive 5% back on all contactless transactions under $100. Even better is their superannuation account that doesn't charge any admin fees. Compared to some others, I was paying almost $10 of admin fees. With ING, investment fee is less than $1. Unbelievable value.
I wish they had a branch in Adelaide where you could talk to a person to gain more satisfactory information on how their system really works, not just internet banking.
Have been a Member of ING Direct for many years now but love the fact that with their Savings Maximiser and Orange Everyday Accounts they are fee free as long as your income gets deposited in their directly everymonth and the fact that all purchases under $100 have a 5% rebate back into your account! Winning! And no account keeping fees at all.
The 24 hour customer assistance has been handy for me over the years, ordering and cancelling cards, for any term deposit enquiries etc. Always found them to be honest, courteous and willing to go the extra mile for the customer!
As far as Banks go, can't fault them to be honest! Very happy and loyal customer here!
Great review
I have Trauma Insurance with them and their rates are very competitive. No Medical required.
I have it deducted by direct debit from my bank account and ING do not charge a surcharge as some do
I just recently opened an ING Orange Everyday account to take advantage of the 5 percent rebate you get on purchases under $100 when you use pay wave and couldn't be happier!
It took me 5-10 minutes to open it online, and I received my debit Visa card in the mail a week later. I loved that I could pick my own pin for my card and my own access code for Internet banking. I had to ring up with a question about my account recently and the service I received was fantastic
I have already received $10 in rebate in 1 week, so I am one very happy customer. There are no account keeping fees either.
Do yourself a favour and visit the ING website for more details.
Pretty impressed with my online savings account. Easy to set up and to transfer money in and out. And the bonus of earning interest with the money you are saving!
I think ING offerings with the Orange Everyday account linked to a Savings Maximiser and no account fees and savings account can pay LB interest rates of 0.75 if you boost your balance by $200 a more a month and no withdrawals. Plus the promo they have going atm the gives you 5% cash back for contactless transactions under $100 and great customer service blows away what the big 4 have to offer.
I have been an ING customer for a few years now. When I first joined I was offered $100 as an incentive. I think their home loan interest rates are usually higher than the big 4 banks but their deposit accounts, their savings maximiser is good you get a higher interest rate than anywhere else but it is a one off whereas with some of the big 4 banks you can get the higher deposit interest rate as long as you open a new acccount. ING's term deposits' interest rates are usually better than the big 4 banks and they give you 10% bonus interest if you renew the principal and interest upon maturity. Their customer service is generally quite good. Only downside is that they don't have any physical branches which can be very inconvenient.
I like ING too - I think their approach has brought about a bit of a change in the market with other banks now having to reduce fees to compete.
Big fan of ING direct. They have fantastic promotions and I've never had an issue with them.
Wow, I will have a look at this bank. Thanks.
Online Banking pretty much as you would expect. I can't see how anyone could rate online banking as 5-star sensational.
No significant issues but we are talking about an online bank where interactions are a little limited. I get me statement in the mail. They answer the phone when I have a query - Good solid service as expected but certainly no WOW factor.
If you have a look at their everyday transaction account its the best available in the market. With no fee's , 3 days to fix your account if you accidentally overdraw your account, they pay you 50c when you withdraw $200+ from a supermarket etc +
5% off all paywave transactions till june 2013!
if you can find me a better deal, please let me know. but frankly I havent found a better transaction account in australia
used to be with ing direct and love the interest rate for the deposit but now my bank has the netsaver and it is much more convenience so unfortunately i closed my ing account as it take one or two days to transfer the money. even Ing now offer normal account with the card so you can access to it straight away. overall they do have a bit higher intrest rate than any other banks.
No bank fees, no ATM fees for withdrawal of $200 and more. No overdrawn fee. Love the service.
However, it is a bit hard when you want the bank to issue a cheque because they don't have a branch. You have to call and they will send you the cheque. And when you want to deposit large sum amount of money, the only option is to go to the Post Office and the security is not as good as banks.
But other than that, great service (friendly customer representative)
This internet Bank service and ING Direct is a great way to do Your banking online. Its also a great way to save Your money for holidays or other special things.

One of the better rates out there.
We have been ING customers for a while now, it's great have not had any bad service. Their customer service dept is fantastic, they will go the extra mile, never a long wait when calling through and question emails always answered.
They always keep you updated with what's going on in the banking world
We are very happy, wish there was a actual ING bank.
They have fantastic savings products too.
I have been an ING Direct customer for years ever since they first launched their savings maximiser account. Their website is easy to use and their products are great. I like their terms deposits also. Every time I ring up for extra assistance, the staff are helpful and have extensive product knowledge. I would happy look at other products of ING Direct and would recommend to anybody wanting a better deal with their banking.
Fantastic bank, they also have great promotions going on
They have a great promotion right now, 5% cash back for purchases under $100
Thanks that is helpful to know, I might need to check out their products online.
I recently joined ING Direct to take advantage of their high savings rate and so far I'm very happy with my decision. I've had to call up customer service a few times to activate accounts, ask questions, and they've always been friendly and efficient. The only slight downside, and when I say slight I mean tiny downside is that it's an online only bank, so you won't find branches anywhere. Other than that, ING Direct is a fantastic bank with amazing interest rates.
I was searching for another bank and one that was not going to charge me oodles in fees and I get nothing in return, well I saw an ad on TV for ING and thought heck why not give it a go. So I went online signed up for an account which is a Savings Maximiser and now I am on my way to having a good savings plan and I also get interest which shows up at the end of the month. And being an online account I can transfer into my other bank account if I need extra funds but the good thing is that being a mainly online account I cant go into a branch to withdraw small amounts.

This is one of my favorite accounts and this offer is purely a bonus!
I have previously done a review on the Orange everyday account which you can view here. I have also provided a spreadsheet of other fee free bank accounts and what they offer so you can see the differences.

Good info, for sure.
Doesn't seem like a review though.
I have a savings account with ING. Good company no transation fees on cash out for ATM's over $200.
excellent bank if you want to park your money for savings purposes the interest rates are higher than other banks,
good customer service via phone if you need it
i have been with this bank for 6months now and well it speaks for itself 24/7 assistance when needed and no fees it you withdraw over 200 at another autoteller
I have been a long time customer of ING's online saving account, and signed up for their everyday account as soon as I found out about it.
No fees, no ATM fees (assuming you withdraw at least $200).
The only downside is their lack of branches, which can be a problem on the rare ocassion you have a cheque to bank.
I have never had a problem with them for any reason. If only they did credit cards as well...
I joined ING Direct about 3 months ago. They have been simply AMAZING! They called me up a couple of times to made sure I got the hang of it and if I have a problem I go straight through to a human who knows me by name. They are the best.
I joined ING around 4 years ago and have been so impressed with them. They have amazing customer service - via phone or email, great online website, no bank fees and when I joined they had amazing bonuses for opening a debit visa account and I ended up with $60 in my pocket. I have 2 accounts with them and have never been disappointed.
i have been a fairly new member to ING. the service is excellent, the rates and prices are competitive, and they are a well known brand.
your review is only positive?? whats with the 4 stars??
I joined when I saw a tv ad ... they were offering $30 gift for opening up a savings account and it is true. The online banking is easy to use, and when I have had to ring to talk to an operator for customer service, I was always answered immediately. For an online account, this is very good. The introductory high interest rates are great for the first 4 months, and then it drops. No account keeping fees whic is a Huge Plusss.
Have been with them with a transaction account for some time and they are quite good with no fees ofcourse.
I almost signed up as well but I saw that the rates were special introductory rates. Those things turn me off completely.
