This place is fantastic when your trying to do your groceries on a budget. I usually make a special trip here and stock up because its great value. They sell a lot of discontinued lines that you can pick up for a bargain and a lot of the time they still have quite a long expiration date left on them. In the past I have also stocked up on frozen meals, they were selling off Weight Watchers meals for 3 for $10 which is the best price around. It's not just food they sell either, they also sell cleaning products and other household items. Plenty of parking also!

My whole family attends this practice and so far we are more than happy with them. They bulk bill for children so I never have to pay any out of pocket expenses for my kids and they will always try and fit in my kids on the same day if I ring with something important. There is also the convenience of having a chemist right next door so you can pick up any prescriptions straight away. Plenty of parking too!

My mother in law bought my husband a butter cream cake for his birthday from here and it was amazing! So fresh and yummy so the next time we needed a cake we went in to buy one but unfortunatly they only have these cakes pre made with Happy Birthday written on them, not really appropriate for taking to someone's house for a dinner party. You can only get it without the Happy Birthday if you pre order which I think is a little crazy but atleast I know for next time now. Either way I will definatly be ordering one of these cakes again. Also a very quaint looking little cafe for dining in I feel.

This review is for Origin Kebabs, Upper Mount Gravatt QLD

This place has been around forever and they make fantastic kebabs. The ingredient are always fresh and the meat is always really tender and juicy, not dry like alot of other kebab places I have tried. Prices are really reasonable too. There is a reason this place is still around while almost every other shop in this eatery seems to change every other week.

This review is for Fat Noodle, Brisbane QLD

I was so excited to try Fat Noodle for the first time. I was a customer of Cafe 21 for the last 2 decades and while I was sad to see it go I was so excited for Fat Noodle. I had high expectations as I have watched many TV shows with Luke Nguyen showcasing his food and it always looked amazing. Sadly though the food I tried did not live up to the high expectations I had set. I ordered the Fat Pho Noodle Soup, Luke Nguyen's signature dish and it was shockingly monotone in flavour, it was in desperate need of some acidity. Some lime would of made the world of difference. I also ordered the fried rice and again sadly it was rather boring. The prices are reflective of a celebrity chef dining establishment, the food however is not. Sorry Luke but I wish they had left it as Cafe21.

This review is for The Lab Bar, Brisbane QLD

Whenever we stay at the Treasury Casino we always go to the Lab Bar which is actually in the hotel building not the casino building. I have to say it's always the best service I've received from any restaurants anywhere! The menu is quite pricey but the food has never been a let down. They also change the menu often enough that you get to try new stuff quite often but they also keep the favourites on there around for a while. It has a really nice cosy and romantic feel which is perfect for couples or small groups. They also have an excellent wine list.

This review is for Char Char Yiros West End, West End QLD

verified email - 10 Feb 2013

I have been to Char Char on quite a few occasions now and we always seem to order the platters because they are so good. It's a Greek place that is both take away and dine in. It's casual dining so has a really relaxed atmosphere. The platters we order come with chicken and lamb that have been slow cooked over charcoal, Greek salad, hot pita bread and dips, grilled haloumi and thick hand cut chips, the perfect Greek feast! Being greek myself I know good greek food and this is REALLY good. The portions are very generous too, the platter for 4 is easily enough for 5-6 people. The only downside is that it can quite hard to get a carpark in this very busy part of West End.

This review is for Cake Star, Albion QLD

I ordered my son's christening cake from here a while ago and had great expectations. Their cakes look amazing, and I have to say the appearance of the cake lived up to my expectations but some other aspects let down the whole experience. Firstly their cakes are not cheap, you pay for quality here, the cake I ordered was $430 so for that much I expect the service to be as good as the cake. The christening was on a Sunday but I was told the didn't deliver on a Sunday so I had to have a Saturday delivery to the venue which I agreed to. You can imagine how upset I was when my venue called me to say the cake never arrived on the Saturday. I tried all night to get through to Cake Star but to no avail as it was outside their business hours. So I spent the night before my son's christening stressing that I didn't have a cake instead of sleeping. The next morning they sent me a text saying they were busy the day before so they were delivering that morning. A text the day before would have been nice, especially since they told me they didn't do Sunday deliveries!
In the end the cake looked amazing but dissapointingly didn't deliver on flavour, it tasted stale. If you order from this place just be sure they communicate with you better than they did to me.

This review is for The Fruits Of Life, Upper Mount Gravatt QLD

This fruit shop is great for any families trying to create their weekly meals on a budget. Being located just opposite woolworths at Garden City it's so convenient to grab all your fruit and veg from here and so much more cost effective. They generally sell alot of different vegetables in 1kg bags for around $2 - $3. I've bought Capsicum, Zucchini, Broccoli and Onions like this from here before. They also sell their herbs in great big bunches for cheap prices unlike the stingy little bunches you get in some supermarkets these days.

This review is for Hard Rock Cafe, Surfers Paradise QLD

verified email - 07 Feb 2013

I have visited Hard Rock Cafe on about 6 different occasions and it's always a fun place to eat. The food is pricey but the portions are very big. We've tried most of the burgers on the menu and they are awesome. If you get a table out on the deck it's a great place to people watch Cavill Mall. The ambiance is very cool, very rock and roll so it does get quite loud. Also it's really busy at dinner time especially on a weekend so it's very wise to book ahead of time.
