We hired some tables from here once. My only problem was that one of the tables wasn't clean. It wasn't a big deal because we were using table cloths anyway, but it was just one of those things where you'd expect better. But they delivered the tables and were very friendly.

I love this place. Second hand clothing, shoes, books, toys, games, bottles, nursery equipment - the works!

The clothing is divided into boys and girls, and by ages - to it's easier to shop for what you want/need. The toy section is behind a gate, so you don't have to worry about your little ones going in and making a mess, and they have a play area to pop your little ones in :)

We had a lovely day here. We brought our own picnic lunch, and it was nice to go to a place where you can bring your own food, to make the day a little cheaper :) We didn't even look at the cafe, so that doesn't bother me.

We got watch the sheepdog at work and take a ride on the tractor thing that takes you around the farm. My daughter got to have a go milking a cow, and the lady was really kind and understanding when my daughter was a bit afraid. Instead of just going onto the next person, she took some time to gently coax my little one to have a go.

I use office works quite a lot.

I find their range is quite good, and their prices on most items are good, but it is important (as with any store) to have an idea in your mind about prices in other stores if you're wanting to get the cheapest items around, particularly if you want to compare with "$2 shops" or similar stores.

During January (the "back to school" sales) you'll pick up a lot of good bargains on stationary that is useful not just for school kids. They also have their own in house brand of printer cartridges which are cheaper than the name brands.

I use their printworks service a lot too, though I do recommend looking through any work you have done to double check it is as it should be - because while they are supposed to have a quality check, sometimes things don't seem to be noticed.

Umm... my second home ;)

I have to agree with other reviewers, their customer service can be shocking at times, but then I've shopped in other Spotlights and found a similar case, so I don't think the Bayswater store is much different to others there. There are some lovely ladies there, and also some less than polite ones. Some of the chattier ones do seem to chat more than cut. I usually tell them to just bundle up the fabric rather than fold it neatly, because it saves some time.

I do think that if you want lovely customer service, go to a smaller fabric store, and if you're after cheaper fabric, go to Spotlight. Its a shame they can't have both, but I suppose the cheaper fabric comes at a price.

The seasoned spotlight shopper knows to go grab your number before you've actually finished shopping ;) You can then potter around the nearby racks until your number is called, and the few times you've not finished by the time your number is called, you can always swap numbers with someone else, who will appreciate getting served quicker.... and you have longer to shop. Or maybe bring a book :)

If you go there when there is a big sale, you need to get in early to avoid them running out of the fabric you want, and you may want a packed lunch for the wait. All jokes aside... the getting a number early method is really the only way to shop at Spotlight.

They always have a discount rack, with fabric from $2 a metre, which is great, and you can join their free VIP club, which gives you a discount on some fabrics (and also mails you out their catalogue and discount coupons). They also have "Sparties" party supplies stuff, homewares and crafty things too. So they do have a good range.

A small complex, but that doesn't really matter when you're in there watching the movie. I think they are a little cheaper than the larger cinemas too.

To be honest, hubby dragged me along, and I thought I was going to be a bit bored. But I really enjoyed it. Having a small child helped I think.

Its basically a small village set in the 1800s, with a couple of shops that sell goods (leadlighting, wood turning, spinning/knitting and old fashioned photography). Some of the stores are staffed with volunteers dressed in period clothing which adds to the feel. There is also a museum area that displays various recovered relics from sunken ships, including the famous Loch Ard peacock (a large ceramic sculpture that was miraculously found intact after a shipwreck). Which was the main reason we went there.

If you have children, this attraction turns from a slightly boring old fashioned village, to an exciting adventure! They give children a little booklet which contains clues for a treasure hunt, which leads them around the village. In some areas there are puzzles for them to do, some are just going from one place to the next (like at the Drs house it mentions not having any money on you, so the clue means to go to the bank), but at each location there is a themed stamp that they use to stamp the page in their book. Having something specific to do made the trip more exciting for us adults too, as it added just that little bit more to the experience. If you're an adult who likes a bit of childish fun - I'd ask for the "sea chest challenge" booklet ;)

They do have a night lazer show, but that is an extra cost, which we did not do.

Some of the buildings are modern, made to look old, however some of the decorations and the 2 boats they have (which you can board and have a look around) are actual boats which have a history you can read about. The sailmaker's building has real old ropes, so you get that oily ropey smell that really makes it feel authentic. The fact that you could touch the ropes, buckets, boats and other objects (in some areas) added to the effect.... not everything was roped off out of reach.

They happened to be filming a commercial the day we went, so they had more of the volunteers there than usual, so it was great to see all the people in their historic clothing walking around.

We were disappointed that you could not get access to the 2 small lighthouses they have, but overall, it was quite an enjoyable experience.

One thing to be aware of if you do have small children - you start off by watching a movie to get you into the mood... which is in a dark theater with simulated storms/lightning... which might be scary for young kids, and is quite long.... so unless you want to end up with a frightened child in your lap.... it might be good to try and prepare your children or hang out in the gift shop until the movie has ended and go straight through. (yes, speaking from experience here!)

This review is for Cheese World, Allansford VIC

verified email - 20 Feb 2008

We went there expecting a cheese WORLD.... there was the promise of a museum and cheese tasting. We expected a cheese factory, where we could sample different types of cheese, see cheese making and have an exciting few hours there.

But "cheeseworld" is in actual fact a one room cheese shop. A little anticlimactic. There is also a small milkbar section selling basic groceries and a cafe type area. Across the road is a cheese factory, but that's as close to the cheese making process you get - driving past the factory to get into cheeseworld's carpark

The "museum" was in fact a shed out the back with random old fashioned items (typewrites, suitcases, cooking utensils etc.).. probably not much more than you'd find at grandma's house.... a couple of more interesting items like an old petrol pump and horse drawn wagon, some old machinery (not relating to cheese) and another shed full of more old (and mostly identical) pieces of machinery (again not even related to cheese) .

There was one sign board that showed photos of an old piece of cheese making machinery, and a few photos of how they make some of the flavoured cheese. I would have hoped for at least a video showing some aspect of cheese making or something more.

The cheese tasting was also disappointing. While their selection of cheese for sale was quite large, there were 5 cheeses for us to taste. Their own brand of Cheddar, cheddar with tomato & chive, cheddar with garlic, cheddar with bacon and matured cheddar. That was it. No soft cheese or blue cheeses to taste, nothing new and unusual. Which was a shame. Among the varieties of cheese they sold was goats cheese, blue cheese, lavender cheese and other cheeses I was hoping to sample. We even asked about sampling other cheeses, and were told that they only give samples of their cheddars, unless some of the other cheeses were close to their use by date and they wanted to use them up (comforting thought....)

We did end up buying a few small blocks of the flavoured cheddars we had tasted - pretty much just to make the trip worthwhile. At least the milkbar part also sold crackers to enjoy our cheese with.

So if you are looking for a cheese shop, then all well and good - it does indeed sell cheese :) but it is not the exciting venue than the name "Cheeseworld" implies.

We used these guys for our wedding, and we were thrilled with the results. We started off with an appointment with Barry, the head photographer, who asked about the wedding, and admitted that he wouldn't be the best photographer for us, as he worked with more classical style and we needed something different. So he showed us examples of his other photographers work, and we were able to choose one we thought did the type of shots we would like.

We were very impressed with our photographer (Justin). He was happy to listen to what we wanted and took some interesting shots that I don't think other photographers would have thought of. We even got him to go around and photograph the guests, so we got some excellent casual individual photos to give as gifts and include in our album as memories of the day.

Best of all is that this is one of the cheapest wedding photographers we found (about $500 for memory - 4 years ago) - That was for a couple of rolls of film's worth of pics (no album), and they give you the negatives! So you can get reprints of the photos yourself. We bought a fancy photo album and made up our own wedding album including some shots relatives took that we liked, and we were able to take reprints of our favourite shots and make albums for our parents. So we found them to be excellent!

This review is for Maxi Foods Supermarket, Upper Ferntree Gully VIC

I've shopped there once or twice over the last few years, but I've recently decided to shop there instead of coles or safeway because I'm sick of the other two not stocking the brands I want. I've been quite impressed with the variety of foods they have. The layout is still a bit confusing for me, but it's something I'll get used to. If you are into bread making, they have a huge section of premade mixes and also grains and things you can use to make your own. They also have an impressive organic, health and ethnic food section. I have no idea how they compare price wise, but I prefer the feel of the supermarket and the fact it stocks more of what I want. Because it's further away for me, it also makes me plan my shopping more (which is great), because I don't want to just pop in frequently like I do with my local coles.... so it's making me more organised.
