You can't compare fine dining to cheapo drunk takeaway, but for a delicious snack after a night drinking, Falafel house is wonderful. You'll stumble over to Falafel house, expensive, pretty shoes in your hands, and thank the lord for the fantastic menu. Whether you love a vego cheese and pumpkin or cheese and brocoli triangle, a cone of crispy, hot chips, or a huge yiros, felafel house is late-night mecca.
This place is fantastic. I have friends who live around the corner from Cowandilla Charcoal Chicken, and there is NOTHING better for a hangover than this place!
Their salad is really lovely too, so you don't feel too gross after eating the delicious, greasy chickens.
If you're in the area, you should check out this place - they are up there with the best!
I've had so many friends 'check in' at E for Ethel, we just had to give it a go for our regular Sunday brunch date.
We left the house a little late for breakfast, so we both had lunch items. I had a sandwich with ham, onion jam, and delicious salad stuff on it, and the boyf had a mushroom bruschetta.
My sandwich was HEAVENLY, and the boyf's meal was good, but the brown bread was nice but cut too thick, so he ended up putting some of it aside and eating mainly the topping. We would go for lunch there again in a FLASH though.
The best thing about E for Ethel though, is that there are so many wonderful items in the store, as it is a gift store AND cafe. I was distracted by all the cute stuff, and will be back to buy some things!
I am a snob. When my boyf used to show me the discounted items at the regular store, I would always screw my nose up - who wants someone else's castoffs!
But after being cajoled to visit rite price, I have become a JUNKIE! This place is more than just near-expired foods, it is a whole supermarket of good, useful, wonderful items at a fraction of the regular supermarket cost.
For example: I use St Ives face scrub, and it usually costs $8-10. They had some on sale for 99c! NOT near expiry date, just a random bargain!
There are name-brand biscuits, decent bread, chips and snacks, and plenty of toiletries.
Some items ARE a bit weird, more the kind of stuff you'll find at a $2 shop than a supermarket, but everything else is fantastically cheap. Give yourself a couple goes to get used to shopping without all the wonderful, fancy surrounds of the regular supermarket, and you'll begin to see you can SAVE real money!
The Crown and Anchor is still a fantastic pub, still a wonderful place for a drink!
If you're visiting Adelaide, and you like an alternative, funky vibe, with the kind of atmosphere that grungy pubs everywhere have - the feel like coming home - then the Crown and Anchor is for you!
The Exeter Hotel is an Adelaide institution! There is a lovely restaurant on the first floor, with a great balcony, and a biergarden with live music. It's a place where the cute young things go on the weekend, so it's sometimes hard to get a table on a Friday night. If you're here to visit Adelaide, the Exeter is a great place to come to enjoy the nightlife!
I bought one lovely dress from st frock, and was ready to rave about them.
But then, I bought two other items, which were both terrible quality.
Unfortunately, because of St Frock's prohibitive returns policies, I was expected to return these items at my own cost for store credit.
However, Australian consumer laws dictate that in the event of unacceptable quality, a customer chooses whether they get credit or a refund. In the circumstances, this seemed fair, as few would believe the quality of these items as acceptable!
I did contact the google trusted stores program and explained that in these circumstances, I preferred a refund. This helped me to get that refund.
I don't think I would shop at St Frock again.
Behavioural economists suggest that the best way to grow a business is to provide incentives for customers to buy your product. I can't think of any WORSE incentive to shopping at a store than making a customer send, at their own cost, bad quality items back at their own cost, and providing only store credit.
Azalia boutique on Queen Street in Croydon is so fantastic!!
I love this store. They have clothes which are cheap and yet perfect fashion. They stock heaps of fantastic labels I love too, like staple the label and Wish. If you LOVE fashion, DO visit azalia boutique. Their best thing is that they have an in-house label that is fantastically cheap and stylish, meaning it is cheaper to buy lovely stuff that looks just as good as fashion twice the price.
Burger theory now has a permanent shop front!
They are located at Union Street, adelaide CBD. Their burgers are better, because they are cooked on site, not in a cramped truck, and they have plenty more options!
My favourite is the traditional style cheeseburger, with pickles, cheese, mustard and sauce.
They are still a little expensive, but totally worth it!
I recently bought a beautiful tub of honey from The Honey Shoppe, and was SO sad when my housemates ate most of it!!
I can understand their appetite - the honey was so complex, flavoursome and fragrant, not like other supermarket-chain honies.
But seeing the empty pot, just a month after I bought it, was so sad!
If you like real, beautiful, delicious honey, without the bland taste that comes from bees being fed from glucose, rather than naturally feeding from flowers.... then THIS is the place for you!
