This review is for Papa Gino's, Carlton VIC

Service is always warm and friendly here. The food tastes similar to the other Italian restaurants along Lygon Street but I come here because the staff are not pretentious, annoying and arrogant.
If you are looking for Italian on Lygon Street, I recommend Papa Gino's - great value and ideal for families too!

Delicious, authentic Thai dishes at great prices. Very impressed.

I had the Pork Noodle Gravy Soup and it reminded me of the street food I had in Thailand!

Will be back for sure - such great value, simple, honest food,

A great little place for cheap but good dumplings. The decor is basic and a little worse for wear but this is one of the few places I am happy to wait in line (as the dumplings are pretty good) for. When I walked in for the first time, I thought I walked into a movie set of an Asian movie in the 60's! Pretty cool and such a novelty.

The other dishes taste pretty good too. Traditional simple Shanghai style dishes. Make sure you try the dumplings, noodles and pumpkin dumpling cakes.

Food is served quickly, don't expect great service and not a place to linger in but great for a quick workday lunch or dinner with friends and colleagues.

Recommended for great value dumplings!

One of my least favourite dumplings restaurant in Melbourne. We ordered the fried pork dumplings and they arrived with a grainy, burnt breadcrumb-like base filled with oil. The bowls and eating utensils were wet and somewhat cleaned.
Not a fan no matter how cheap the prices are.

We ordered our wedding cake here. Nicole, the events cake co-ordinator was very friendly, organised and helpful. At our tasting she gave us suggestions and it was very clear she was very good at her job. Her cake descriptions were neatly noted and communication was always easy and fast.

We had been to many tastings and there were many that quoted over $500 for a wedding cake (for coffee portions for 80 guests). We were so glad to have found French Lettuce as we found our cake significantly lower priced but the cake was delicious.

I highly recommended all prospective brides to pop in and have a look. If you find that the website does not have cake designs that you fancy, they have a very big portfolio in-store and it's a good idea to have a picture of what you want so Nicole can give you feedback on what is possible.

The cake turned up and looked perfect and the cake we chose was "French Lettuce" (chocolate with nuts). It tasted better on the wedding day probably it was fresher, moist and deliciously nutty. We had some guests with nut allergies and French Lettuce was happy to accommodate for them too!

Highly recommended bride-to-be's!! The store has a mini cafe and worth popping in for something indulgent! yum yum!

This review is for Store 6, South Melbourne VIC

01 Jul 2012

Store 6 is a Food store and Catering business which has been operating in the South Melbourne Market since 1993.

Located in the South Melbourne Market, it appears they use fresh, seasonal ingredients to get fresh, simple food.

We came here for a quick brekkie with a hot spinach roll (filled with ricotta and a little roasted capsicum) and a bacon and egg tart with our latte and hot chocolate. Everything was delicious and the lady offered some relish with our hot food.
I am sold on the relish alone! The pastries were delicious but I will definitely be back for the relish and their big assortment of take-home food such as lasagne, spanish chorizo and spinach tarts, chicken curry etc! Everything just looked so good and organically colourful.

Coffee and hot chocolate were good too. Great value and worth the visit!

Recommended.

This review is for Fancy Nails, Melbourne VIC

01 Jul 2012

Had gel nails with a manicure plus a pedicure and polish applied. From memory it was $70 in total. I had one girl doing my manicure and another doing the pedicure.

They were friendly and ensured everything was perfect as they could get it before I walked out the door. The OPI nail polish applied to my toes lasted for over a month. The girl doing my gel nails did her best to remove the little black dust specks in the gel but it looked perfect in the end.

Well priced and the ladies are friendly. Recommended if you want to pamper yourself a little bit without the hefty price tag.

A great little, cosy yet classy bar. It's small and intimate and the little extravagant fittings makes it very special indeed.
Cocktails are wonderful but sometimes I get the other cocktail maker... hrm... but at its worse it's still good.

They offer a small tapas / bar food menu. Sometimes it is not available (kitchen staff on a break?!?!) In all fairness, staff are friendly and unpretentious.

Overall a nice escape from Chapel Street - recommended for a good night with the girls or a date - depending on how crowded it gets.

This review is for Bread Kingdom, Melbourne VIC

30 Jun 2012

This is a Korean bakery in Melbourne city and they make the best cakes and pastries. Forget Breadtop... Bread Kingdom is better.

Perfect for morning/afternoon teas, birthdays or other celebrations. I have always purchased gift-boxed macarons, mini cakes and specialty breads. Everything is individually wrapped and tastes as good as it looks (from everything I have tried so far!) The service staff are very friendly despite some language barriers but they try to do their best. If you pop in early in the morning, they are give a free tasting / cake upon purchase. Now which bakery does that?

Price is relatively low because they seem to put in a lot of fillings that makes it taste so good! Plently of savoury and sweet sensations!

At the back of the store, there is a cafe set up. I quite like this as it is not really visible from the street and it's like a little secret for customers.

Wow - I recommend to drop by this store - I'm 99% sure you won't leave empty handed! Absolutely scrumptious baked goods!

The cheapest place in Melbourne City for vitamins, health supplements and protein powders / liquids / gels / drinks etc.

I have to say the staff are sometimes very helpful or the opposite. Plenty of choices in-store but I generally like to do my research before I go into the store!

Check it out, why pay more for the same product elsewhere?
