I would recommend this business as they are very competitively priced and provide very good service. PIA have a great online web portal that is easy to use and make a claim. The response times to queries have been excellent.

I have pet insurance for peace of mind and my dog was bitten by another dog so needed to make a claim. The claiming process was simple and money was transferred into my account so quickly! Definitely would recommend to anyone. Setting up the policy was very easy also and quick.

I've found PIA fairly straight forward for making claims and they updated me with text messages to say they'd received and were processing the claim. They have been quite good in returning phone calls and answering queries as well.

PIA were the cheapest for pet insurance when I shopped around. It was so easy to setup my policy & with direct debit all sorted I know my dog is covered for pet insurance at all times. I hope I never have to claim for major accident or injury but routine care cover is good value and whenever I have made a claim there has been no issues.

I've had insurance with PIA for my cat for 3 years now. It's great peace of mind, knowing that 80% of my vet bills will be covered and I have had to make two substantial claims in the past, one for unexpected surgery costing over $4000 and one for a recent illness in which diagnostics alone cost over $1300. Knowing that I could claim these expenses certainly eased my anxiety and I knew that I could provide the care necessary to assist my cat.

However, I always feel apprehensive when I make a claim. This is because I have always had to dispute each claim to receive the full amount I am entitled to. This can be a very long and drawn out process, and understandably stressful once you've already paid $4000 for a surgery that I couldn't afford.

Case one: bladder stones. This claim was declined due to 'pre-existing condition' which wasn't actually diagnosed by a vet. Explanation: a previous vet had written in case notes 'possible cystitis' during the diagnosis phase but had later diagnosed an unrelated condition and treated for that. I contacted PIA and was advised that I would need to write a letter and have my previous vet write a letter. I submitted these and was then paid my claim, less two excesses. Excess 1: urinary stones. Excess 2: abdominal pain. Needless to say abdominal pain is not a diagnosis, it is a symptom of urinary stones. Again, I had to contact PIA and request a review of my claim. Eventually the second excess is refunded.

Example two: Similar story but this time I was charged an excess for pancreatitis and urinary tract infection. UTI was listed as a possible cause of illness at the initial consultation, however, the final diagnosis was pancreatitis which was confirmed with diagnostics. For this claim my cat only visited the vet on one occasion, only had one illness, only one illness was listed on the claim form. I have contacted PIA to request refund of the second excess, again they want a letter from me and a letter from my vet stating that pancreatitis is the diagnosis, despite it being clearly written on the claim form. My vet unfortunately is taking a long time to write the letter so this matter is as yet unresolved.

PIA provides good value for money and I am so glad that I took out this cover for my cat. However, the claiming process is added stress at an already stressful time and this needs to be examined by PIA to ensure better customer experience.

We moved our pets policy to PIA after having a number of different issues with another well known pet insurance company.

PIA have been great and always assisted us quickly and without issue.
Good value for money, and excellent peace of mind.

I thought organising pet insurance would be difficult but the customer service operators at Pet Insurance Australia were very helpful and didn't keep me waiting on the phone. Very affordable too. Would recommend.
