I've been here a few times with a large group of friends. The billing is very convenient, everyone covers their own account with a chip card handed to them as they enter the restaurant so there is no worry of split bills. The food is great quality for the price and and made very quickly (it is cooked as you order). There is also a decent happy hour between 5-7pm. Definitely worth checking out.
This place was just opened up the guys who run Auction Rooms in North Melbourne. Sitting unassumingly at the bottom of a huge building, once you get past the heavy door the place is a site to behold with it's unique bar and bright lights.
Filter not only has espro press available but a menu that will make your jaw drop. The pre-brewed option is great if you are in a rush. If you have the time, make sure you explore the full menu of coffee and settle in to experience the finest freshly brewed filter in Melbourne.
This place has amazing food and awesome coffee (probably the best of Victoria Avenue). My only gripe is that it can get really loud on weekends making it hard to hear the person sitting across from you, but that is par for the course in Melbourne these days. The venue itself is gorgeous and the staff are friendly.
Be sure to try the filter!
A great coffee option for the area. It can get pretty busy during brunch (especially when waiting for take away) but is definitely worth a stop in to sample the great coffee and funky design. The space conveniently has both individual and communal tables which is always a plus. My favourite thing on the menu right now is the Timber Benedict, pulled pork for breakfast, where can you go wrong?
There are a lot of organic options popping up around Melbourne but these guys are great. They have a huge range and are delivering a much needed healthy produce and grocery option to the area. They also have vegan options to boot!
My favourite things are their daily salads, smoothies and pressed juices, always fresh and so yummy.
This place feels like home. With fresh ingredients and one of the best chicken sandwiches in Melbourne, this is a lovely spot to come for a coffee and relax.
I would dare say this place has best coffee in the Southgate area. Located in a gorgeous red brick building, this place has a very chilled atmosphere, friendly staff and is a place I'll occasionally use for breakfast meetings.
You don't come to this place for a classy dining experience. You come here for the insane selection of beers available. Thought it can be a tad pricy, it is great for a round or two of quality beer.
I came here after Heading Out GPO was shut down in mid-2013. I walked in and stood at the front desk for three minutes as two staff members continued to talk in front of me about an episode of the Bachelor. After waiting another 25 minutes (during my lunch break which eventually made me later) I had a great experience with Kieran who was very friendly and did a wonderful job looking after my very thick and stubborn hair. Unfortunately Kieran's skilfulness was not enough to bring me back to this place.
Under the pedestrian bridge, Ponyfish Island is especially great in summer when you get the breeze come up from the water. It's is also pretty good for an after work coffee or beer as it's so close to Flinders St Station.
The only bad part about this place is that the smokers can ruin what is otherwise a nice place to grab a drink or quick burger.
