Attended the front bar for a quiet Saturday arvo beer.

Entering via the dining room, it looked pretty classy out the back for those looking for a good feed.

The front bar is your classic front bar that you'd find in a suburban pub. Big screens and TAB facilities available, and beer at an average price for a pub. The locals have most of the good seats, but there's still plenty of space for those just passing through. There's also tables outside for the smokers and people who like the al fresco set up.

The food looked good (we didn't dine) and seemed reasonably priced in the front bar, and the beer was clean, crisp, and cold. Next time we're at Port Melbourne, we'll definitely duck-in for a cold one!

Went here for a pre-show meal, and was quite impressed. The food was well priced, in-line with the area, and the quality was pretty good. Not the most awesome, but definitely not the worst... above average! The soups were good, the mains were good, and the dumplings were really enjoyable.

I'd definitely go back at some point.

Stopped here for breakfast on our final morning in Canberra. My wife and I each enjoyed Eggs Benedict, one with bacon, the other with ham. Both were delightful, and very much enjoyed. My wife also had a chai latte, which was one of the best she's had.

Value-wise, it's effectively the amount you'd normally pay for cafe-style dining in the area. Overall, we were happy with it.

Service-wise, the ladies waiting the tables were friendly and attentive, as was the chap behind the counter. No major dramas at all.

Next time, I shall have a crack at the MEGASHAKE.

This review is for Thai Cornar, Griffith ACT

As far as Thai restaurants go, this place wasn't too bad. It wasn't at the top end, but at the same time, wasn't awful either.

The service from the young lady at the counter was excellent, she was quite friendly. However, the young man waiting tables seemed disinterested, spending more time behind the counter on his iPhone.

The food was good, not too spicy, but tasty enough to keep us interested. It was very Australian-focused Thai cuisine.

Price-wise, it was quite an economical night out, to some extent proving that you get what you pay for!

I went here with my wife whilst in Canberra.

The food was quite good, but with some slight room for improvement. There could have been more meat in the curries, for example.

The service was slow at times, difficult to get attention. We weren't offered a second round of drinks, either.

Value-wise, it was at the higher-end of Indian restaurant pricing. Papadums, normally provided as complementary at most such restaurants, were charged for here.

This is a must-stop venue on the Hume Hwy!

We were driving from Canberra to Melbourne, and were in the mood for some baked goods. My wife and I both had a curry pie, which was an excellent choice at a good bakery price.

For dessert, she had the Vanilla Slice, which was very nice. However, I had the Lemon Meringue Pie, which was AWESOME.

Even once the bypass goes around Holbrook, we'll be passing through to ensure we get a good stock-up of baked goods from here!

This review is for Old Salt, Port Melbourne VIC

verified email - 08 Feb 2013

On a Thursday evening, my wife and I wanted something simple and tasty, and wandered past Old Salt, where a few people were dining outside. The chips looked excellent, so we thought we'd give the place a try!

My wife ordered a burger with the lot, and I ordered a piece of flake. We also got chips and dimmies, because that's what you do. The prices were slightly higher than what we're used to, but still reasonable.

The cooked food was served to us on a plate, which was a nice touch, and was top-notch! The fish wasn't over-battered, and the burger was quality throughout.

The shop is clean and the staff are friendly, they really care about what they do!

I highly recommend Barclay's Cafe as a place for breakfast. It's incredibly popular, and they take bookings, so book ahead if you're going with a group. All the food is good quality, so you won't be disappointed!

We attended this venue because our normal ice cream place was overcrowded... and we're glad it was!! I Scream give you really good quality ice cream at a very reasonable price! My wife and I both went for 2 flavours each, which cost $5. She had Mint, and Pistachio, and enjoyed them heaps, whilst I had Bacio and Honeycomb, which were also fantabulous! Sadly they didn't have VB flavour when we were there, but nonetheless, we immensely enjoyed the experience and will be back!

Went here for a Public Holiday lunch, and was pleasantly surprised that they had lunch specials available for $12. My partner and I both had a lovely salad which was sizeable, the chicken was great, and we were quite content afterwards. The service was excellent. There was a minor issue with one of the meals, and the staff resolved the issue with little fuss, which was appreciated. We'd definitely go back, especially with the way they handled the issue.
