This review is for Bhoj Indian Restaurant, Docklands VIC

Bhoj used to be really good but it's gone down hill over the years. Against my better judgement we went recently withe a group. The service was either abrupt (borderline rude) or totally clueless. The food was not good at all, the sauces were bland and tasted raw. The meat was oily. Also the lighting is also really harsh which is a bit of a strategic error when you are serving food this unappetizing. Avoid.

Now for me a cake without butter is like summer without sunshine but Crumbs produce rather nice cakes and they are fully vegan. I get my super-worthy organic free range eggs here as well. The staff are LOVELY - sorry but they really are the sweetest.

The $12 dumplings represent unbeatable value. And they are tasty. They also do a $25 Sunday special of two courses which is the cost of a fancy North Melbourne brekky! The service is very pleasant and professional and they seem to have taken the cosy (carby) European vibe to heart.

Firstly forget about getting a table on the weekend without having to queue as it's always slammed. Best time to visit is a weekday afternoon. The place is huge and inner city funky, a bit out if step with North Melbourne. I know people rave about the coffee but in all honesty I can't - it's good but not that good. The food is good, pretty expensive and they can be rather inflexible with special requirements but I think it depend on who you get as your server as some are sweet and some not so sweet!

Our booking has been lost twice in a row now - they fitted us in but it would be a problem if we had been more than two! Food is very good, not spicy enough for my taste though. Portions are generous, nice vibe, lovely staff. But book and double check your booking to avoid disappointment.

They now have additional seating upstairs (very challenging stairs I have to say) has made it easier to get a seat inside. It's quirky, the sandwiches are always very good but the quality of the hot food does vary. And service can be too slow for lunch if you have to get back to work. That said - lentil pie floaters! If they made a cheese and onion pie floater I would so be a regular.

This review is for Elceed, North Melbourne VIC

verified email - 23 Jul 2013

I really like Elceed but I'd suggest avoiding on the weekend as it gets packed with families, strollers etc. I think it's better enjoyed when you have a bit of peace and quiet. The food is good but I have a problem with poached eggs served on a flat wooden board - more a test of wills than a relaxing meal! Still do give it a go - the baked eggs, snuggled safe in a bowl, are worth a try.

Well if you are trying to give up bread and/or cakes avoid this little place like the plague. Your will-power won't stand a chance against the deliciousness. It's not cheap but all the ingredients used are top notch and as local as possible (free-range meats) and the taste reflects this care. Their sandwiches overflow with amazing fillings, so big that you could share with a friend. A very, very good friend. The coffee is also really very good. Oh yeah and the cakes.....

This review is for Middle Fish, Carlton VIC

verified email - 23 Jul 2013

I was pretty unimpressed with Middle Fish I must say. The food was ok but quite underwhelming for Thai - the entrees looked and tasted supermarket frozen and the food was quite bland. The service was all over the place. We all got served at different times so that was awkward and the meals arrived without cutlery. The decor is funky and it's popular with students. Look I wanted to love the place on looks alone but it's food court standard cuisine at a much higher price.

This review is for Mo Mo Bubble Tea and Coffee House, Hobart TAS

Well the staff here are lovely and the menu is very vego friendly including mock meat dishes and more western stuff like quiche and burgers. In fact there are a massive 8 different veggie burgers. I had a "fish" burger and it was yummy and very substantial for less than ten bucks.
