This review is for Movenpick Ice Cream, Fortitude Valley QLD

Accidentally found Movenpick today after consuming a huge lunch at nearby Guzman Y Gomez Tacqueria. The store was bright and modern and the display of ice creams and sorbets looked neat and inviting. I had a waffle cone with 2 scoops (ridiculously priced at $6.95) the espresso flavour was strong and teamed nicely with the syrup/walnut flavour. Delicious ice cream for a rare visit but the staff, though efficient could have done a better job at providing some kind of further information to new clients about what's available on the menu. Really would have liked some hot fudge but it wasn't offered so I didn't know they had it until I finally noticed it on the board and I was halfway done. In summary, delicious ice cream but other areas have room for improvement.

Fresh authentic Mexican food for around the $10-$15 range. Generous portion sizes and we loved the varieties of Tabasco sauce available on tap alongside free jalapeno slices too. My husband is from Texas, USA and considers himself a bit of an afficionado on this cuisine and he gave it the thumbs up saying that this was the best Mexican style food he's had in Australia in 12 years of being disappointed by amateurs everywhere else. If we had to find a flaw it would have been the ratio of beans and rice to meat which really seemed like overkill to pad out the size of things. The shredded pork, beef and the marinated chicken was tender and flavoursome. We will be returning again for sure and we were wise to turn up half an hour before the surge of people at lunchtime.

Went to a birthday party here today and thought it was fantastic! This is a giant shed in an industrial area which has been decked out with a variety of purpose built wooden ramps and jumps for kids of all ages to rides bikes, scooters, skateboards or roller blades (helmets compulsory) Early primary school aged children and beginners are encouraged to use the park during quiet session times (3 to 6pm) or Sundays mornings (9am to 12noon). The park is not suitable or recommended for preschoolers. There were 3 or 4 parties being held there today which I was told, cost about $10 per head and you can bring your own food and cake....they supply the table. There is one entrance and parents may enter and supervise from a height. Car parking avilable. Thought it was a great place for an active outing. One side is for beginners, handled well by 5 year olds while the other side had steeper ramps for teens. Highly recommended!

Visited this store only because I had an online voucher and found it to be well stocked with fresh produce. Gluten free products and some deli stuff available too. Milk's not cheap. It is close to Coles and they have a frequent visitor loyalty programme which I signed up for though, due to it's locale, I probably won't be visiting much personally. Nice bargains on some things, not so much on others. Parking out front. Happy helpful staff.

Couldn't believe the range of products here! They've got everything from pool chemicals to breastfeeding pillows! I went in for swimming aids to teach my kids how to swim and found back floats, swim vests, kick boards, goggles, flippers and dive toys. The people were very helpful too and there is convenient parking out front.

Chermside library is a great place for the community and we love what's on offer at the coffee shop there. From freshly made sandwiches (either pre-made at $4.70 or made to order) scones, muffins ($3.70), quiche, lasagne, pies, salads, soups and even pancakes! (2 stack $6.50) Had a small cappuccino ($3.70) which was really good and frothy too. You can either sit outside in the breeze or inside the library and read while you sip your flat white. There are close parking bays for the disabled and a ramp for wheelchair accessibility and it's conveniently located near restrooms which is a plus for my elderly mother. I look forward to returning my books!

Just discovered MegaFresh and, in a word, awesome! The Gap store is brand new, clean and I was so pleased to find a place where you can get decent bargains on fruit and veg while indulging a little aswell in their well stocked deli which is beautifully presented with fresh and authentic homemade and imported products. This place has everything from far away lands including smokehouse sauces and candy from the US and other rare oddities and the prices were surprisingly acceptable! The variety is great: deli meats, cheeses, breads, free range eggs, gourmet pasta, balsamic vinegar, coffee, cakes and huge muffins for $3. The staff were super friendly and even brought my box of stuff out to the car for me. Free tastings are on offer too. You've got to be lucky to score a close park out front though.

This review is for Sizzler, Nundah QLD

OK -> Something is askew in the world of Sizzler restaurants as I just can't agree with the previous WOMO reviews of more than a year ago. Times they are a-changing it seems.

Firstly, beware if you turn up for lunch on a public holiday. They will not tell you that they charge dinner prices ($24.50pp) at lunchtime until you question the receipt after payment.

Secondly, the variety is just not there anymore. Unfortunately the few things that my fussy kids do actually eat were missing (cherry tomatoes, prawn chips, capsicum rings). Also, one might expect a salad restaurant to have oodles of the key ingredient...lettuce! All they had on offer was shredded hamburger lettuce - no full lettuce leaves and no Cos lettuce in sight to make a Caesar salad. The celery was brown and my husband's favourite Ranch dressing has also been removed. Cost cutting is in full swing!

Thirdly, their staff are in dire need of hospitality training. When we asked about the absence of regular items, we were shown a small sign at the counter that reads to the effect:

"Due to recent weather conditions and quality of supply, some items may not currently be available."

So the weather will affect your dining experience.

One staff member with little peripheral vision obviously didn't see me walking toward her with 2 hot coffees in hand and bumped into me so hard that they spilled all over the floor. She asked if it got on me but didn't offer an apology.

Lastly, just a little word of warning: the bathroom push taps splash so forcefully that you'd best stand back. Not child friendly at all.

I really think Sizzler needs to step up its game...perhaps if a rival salad bar restaurant opened up to compete with them, they would.

Approximate cost: $24.50

This place has been refurbished since my last visit with wide open spaces and a streamlined snackshop where you buy snacks and a movie ticket all at the one cashier which leads you directly out and into a movie theatre. No need for a second checkpoint with ushers...just collect your goodies and you're on your way through. I like how it is not too busy and it's neatly tucked away in the rear of the building - a straight walk in from the carpark. Next to Sizzler and McDonalds if you're needing a meal too. Sizzler does combined movie meal deals too. This will be our go-to cinema from now on.

Had lunch here with the kids on a Saturday. The dining area in the courtyard next to the kids playground is a great idea but the gate to the actual playground seemed faulty and kids were freely walking in and out on their own. Needs addressing. It's also kind of hard to see the entire playground from your table so getting up frequently throughout your meal is necessary to really keep an eye on them. The carousel runs at $2 per child. I can see that this would be a great place to host a child's birthday party. Our kids had a nice time. The food was average (though decent portion sizes) and my little boy's burger was quite hard for him to eat considering it's height. Cappuccino was very nice and came with a little biscuit. Kids get a free soft drink and gluten free ice cream tub with their meals. Steak meals range from $25-$35. Loads of parking out front and daily specials throughout the week.
