The state government school based dental program provides FREE oral healthcare to kids aged 4 up to grade 10. I took my kids there for their first appointment and found the staff to be very friendly and kind. They checked their teeth very briefly and found no issues of concern and explained things clearly. I was a little surprised how quick the check up was. I thought they'd be taking x-rays or at least clean their teeth but it really was just a very brief 'look,see'. It was free though and I did get some niggling questions answered and the kids were very happy to receive a new toothbrush each!

Brought the kids here on Sunday morning and we stayed for hours! They began by climatising in the baby pool which is knee deep and then progressed to the kiddy pool which has 3 medium sized waterslides and various depths. A little hard for a mum to find the edges below the water surface so don't be rushing in or out. We then tried out the warm, shallow all the way covered pool which was great for teaching them how to float. We steered clear of the Olympic sized lap pool and were glad to notice lifeguards on duty. There are covered picnic tables, grassy slopes, shady picnic spots and also a dry playground so a family can really make a day of it. It cost $10.30 for one adult and 2 kids entry (they have EFTPOS). Free kickboards to borrow and free off street parking available.

Had a lovely buffet meal here last night for $20 pp. Started with deliciously crisp onion pakoras and pappadums, followed by smoky tandoori chicken, butter chicken, mixed vegetable curry, lentil dhal and a tender beef curry and fluffy rice of course. The curries were all rather mild (even the beef one which was labelled hot) so if you're new to Indian cuisine this is a good place to go. The garlic naan bread is superb and thankfully generously provided. There are also accompaniments such as cucumber yoghurt raita, salad and for dessert, vanilla custard with syrup laden sweet little dumplings called Gulab Jamuns. This is homestyle cooking in a casual friendly atmosphere, nothing pretentious about the ambience and there is plenty of parking out right out front. Buffet is available Fri and Sat nights and you can also order takeaway.

In a hospital setting, there is nothing quite as welcoming as a good coffee shop to break the monotony of doctor's appointments and clinical waiting rooms. Mollie's is located near the Maternity ward and has a nice little sunny courtyard attached to escape to. They have flowers, gifts and cards for those last minute occasions and the coffee is very good and moderately priced ($3.50). A scone with jam and cream will set you back $2.50 and they also have a lovely selection of sandwiches made to order, quiche, muffins and savoury crepes. Pleasant service from the happy tea ladies makes it a nice little oasis in the hospital.

Love love love my Womo! Just received 3 x $20 Wish cards in the mail for my efforts over the past few months. Being rewarded to give my opinion on local businesses keeps them on their toes and hopefully will assist them to improve on their shortcomings for everyone who uses them! Just visited the brand new Trade Secret store (that just opened in August 2012) in Morayfield and think it looks great! All the departments are well signed: kidswear, menswear, accessories, home and as expected I found some nifty bargains. Belts and hats for under $20 and some nicely priced bangles and scarves. Plenty of parking out front. Also close to Fantastic Furniture, Spotlight and Sam's Warehouse. I think there'll be a Woolworths coming to the area soon.
