As a customer, I am so glad WOMO exists. Sometimes, I get to vent when an experience has been bad, but usually, I get to give feedback to stores that I love, and I know that I am supporting local businesses whilst getting rewarded for it.
It's important to spread the word of mouth!
Nobody has reviewed Goodies and Grains in an age, so this review is, in part, to give it a 'bump', because it's a store that deserves it. The store has so many specialty foods and health items, all in bins, tubs and giant containers. The food is stored hygenically and is wonderfully fresh. You can get organic, bio-dynamic, and locally grown, as well as obscure and hard-to-find items.
My favourite place for quinoa or for a quick juice while I am shopping, as they also have a great juice bar!
This place is a little expensive for what it offers, and the food is fairly normal. The concept is fabulous - an organic cafe - but most breakfasts and lunches are around $17-20, and the food is ok, but not knock-your-socks-off good. I went here when my sister was down from Perth, and we were a little surprised at the cost.
Fellini is another nice little cafe that does good, predictable italian fare. Their woodfired pizzas are tasty and the coffee is apparently good (so the boyf says!) I recommend this restaurant over some similar ones in the area, as it is the best of its kind.
Scuzzi cafe has been the same since forever. Same menu, same decor, etc etc etc. It's good but not great, italian fare with generous serving sizes and nice presentation. If you like a nice italian meal, you will enjoy Scuzzi cafe.
Perfect beef pies, amazing sweets, apparently good coffee too (said the boyfriend!). This place is just up the road from my boyfriend's dad's place, so we go here when we visit him. I have never been disappointed. I do prefer the beef to the chicken pies, but that is a tiny criticism.
WONDERFUL FOOD!!
This market has recently closed, but my review is for the variety and service I experienced there before that happened. The store is two floors of fantastic variety, and if you are looking for something obscure or rare, this place had it. A great store... I hope it will open again.
The duck!!! The duck dish comes out as three dishes. First, heavenly duck soup that is so warming and delicious. Then, the DUCK PANCAKES. HOLY BUSINESS, these are the BEST duck pancakes I've ever eaten! They have lovely sauce and greens to be added to the light, flowery pancakes, and you will feast until you are so full you will look confusedly on as the amazing duck noodles come out... but then, you will find the second wind, driving you on to new delights.
7/5 for the duck. A MUST TRY.
The perfect chicken rice! I love chicken rice, having developed a taste for it when I was dating a Malaysian boy whose parents made what seemed like the perfect dish. This one out shines theirs though, and when I grab a quick bite here, I am in utter heaven!
We went there after my nephew's birthday. My boyfriend ordered the open steak sandwich, but instead the pumpkin risotto came out.
This was after we had waited for quite a long time for our meals. The wait staff seemed very stressed and uncomfortable that the wrong meal came out, so we felt obligated to take it. However, it was kind of runny, not smooth as a risotto is supposed to be, and my barramundi was good, but not worth the wait.
If the staff had offered us a discount, or a proper apology, we would be happy, but as it stood, we were very disappointed. It was a very average end to a great day.
