A fish & chip shop that also does Chinese street food? Why yes, Chermside has one of these. Now I haven't tried the fish, chips or burgers, but there is usually a queue for those things.

No, I go there for beef pancakes, Chinese shredded pork hamburgers and dumplings. This place is a real find for lovers of real Chinese food on the north side and as far as I know, the only place in Brisbane that sells northern Chinese street food (don't take your southern Chinese friends as they won't recognise the food).

This wonderful hole in the wall Japanese restaurant is typical of the new bread of Japanese restaurants that are opening all over Brisbane.

Basically the focus is on Udon Noodles, with some rice dishes and street food snacks.

They also have a number of Japanese products for sale (we picked up some of the sliced ginger here).

The noodles are great and are the fastest dish to order, while the rice dishes are also very good, but a little slower.

Service is very friendly and efficient. The place is fairly small, but still nice to visit.

This Thai restaurant doesn't look anything special from the outside, but inside it is beautifully decorated. They have all your favourite Thai dishes along with several that you might not be familiar with. They also have a few dishes of their own creation.

From experience, if you want to try something different then order from the Chef's Specials. The Tamarind Fish is an experience (not everyone might like this, but worth trying) and the Duck.

This review is for Kim Thanh Restaurant-west End, West End QLD

Hardgrave Street has a number of nice restaurants include the Kim Thanh restaurant. This is the less popular of the Vietnamese restaurants on this strip. The seafood pancake was not that good and the prawns were not properly prepared. The noodles though have a good reputation, so maybe that is what you should go for if you head here.

This place sells donuts that are decorated like mini cakes. Overall a little bit too sweet to add that much icing sugar, chocolate and decoration on top.

This review is for The Low Road Cafe, Windsor QLD

I have been to this nice cafe for breakfast. There is are some basic items on the menu (scrambled eggs with sourdough toast and smash avocados) along with some things like a sweet potato salad.

I think this place is popular because it does a good job at what it does and there isn't that much competition in Windsor. Parking is okay in the area too, which helps.

With Burgers, Burritos and Sandwiches on the menu, the fare is pretty straight forward. They try to present it will but it just doesn't come off with any flare.

They have tried to maintain a run down look to the cafe and it appears they have, unfortunately succeeded.

The food is good and not too expensive...but...not that keen on going back.

This review is for Makan House, West End QLD

I believe that the name basically means Food House. This is the place to get your Malaysian food, though you could also look for any Chinese restaurant run by Singaporean or Malaysian people.

Not really by favourite place, but still clean and stylish with good cheap food.

This review is for Ouzeri Mediterranean Restaurant Cafe Bar, West End QLD

The only thing really left of Greek culture in West End (which used to be a very Greek suburb) is several Greek restaurants and cafes.

Of the two main Greek restaurants, this one has a little more character. Now I hope I don't get them confused because they look similar and have similar dining options.

The main thing to grab are the food platters. They are a little on the expensive side, but they include a nice selection.

Try to avoid seats on the main foot path as it can be busy and noisy every time people cross the road with the lights. Other than that, it is a nice place to eat. Greek food is a little boring these days and the price is a little high.

Sushi at takeaway prices in a cafe setting with good coffee. Actually the food to get here is the Donburi (japanese stone pot rice dish) though they can be a little slow.

Really a Japanese hole in the wall restaurant. I am glad to see that there are more great little Japanese restaurants opening up selling reasonably priced Japanese food.
