Excellent business concept! I have found lots of great small businesses that I otherwise would never have found. It helps to narrow down my choices and I could earn points for reviewing small businesses as well. I have used the gift card you've sent to buy some groceries. Fantastic! Will keep on visiting this site to read reviews and add reviews.

A must visit place if you are into cosmetics and skin care and boutique fragrance. Great selections of niche and hard to find brands. A bit expensive though. Must try if you are in store:
Nars orgasm (blush), Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle (a boutique perfume created by the famous perfumer Dominique Ropion - most beautiful smell of tuberose ever). For summer fragrance, I love Byredo Gypsy water (top layer of sweet lemon and dry down of warm vanilla and sandalwood). And many more of other great perfumes that will suit anyone's taste.

Just went to check out this guy. Tried the huxtaburger for $8.50. Soft bread, delicious patty, well seasoned and cute wrapping paper and bag. I guess I was lucky they didn't have a long line but still waited around 10 minutes (not good if you are in a hurry). Size is pretty small. I think a big bloke might need to order 2 burgers.

If you are after Japanese cooking materials this is the place to go to. They sell all kinds of imported Japanese products to make your life a little easier. They also sell other Asian products but better buy those at other Asian grocery stores since anything other than Japanese products are more expensive here. The Japanese products here are well priced compared to other grocery stores. It's self serve but the staff were always polite.

This review is for Albert St Food & Wine, Brunswick VIC

My husband and I visited Albert st Food & Wine for lunch today. The main purpose was actually to try their famous lemon tart and if we were lucky we thought we might try their really well known snickers dessert if it was available (special menu not always available). It was a full house when we came in (without booking) but they managed to find us a spot for two. We ordered a steak tartare, spaghettini with prawns and corns, and special menu pizza with pesto and ham. And of course, the Meyer Lemon tart and luckily they had Snickers today. Yay! Mission accomplished. The steak tartare was delicious (came with raw egg yolk and crunchy bread on top). But it wasn't that delicious either to make me want to come back here again. The pizza was better than expected. It was thin, light and airy. They garnished them with mint leaves so it was fragrant. The Spaghettini was pretty good. The spaghetti itself didn't have much taste but the prawns and the corns that came with the spaghetti tasted really good. The lemon tart was very well made. You can really taste the lemon. The crust itself was good but nothing special. It was the curd that was the highlight of the day. Very soft like pudding it melted in your mouth. The taste of the lemon and the sweetness was very well rounded. Very mellow and soft. Overall a very comforting feeling. A bit on the pricey side though; $16 per slice. The Snickers taste like snickers bars but better. My husband really enjoyed the snickers. He told me it reminded him of his childhood. I think Albert St Food & Wine is a great place to visit but although you can enjoy some good food here, it's really the desserts that you really want to come here for. Service is good as well. All the staff are very attentive and courteous.

The best place in Melbourne to eat pecking duck! Always very packed, outdated decor and not much service does not stop me from coming here to eat some very delicious and fragrant pecking ducks. Do not bother with other dishes because they are not worth mentioning. If you plan to come here to eat, please give them a ring and book a few days beforehand especially if you want to come for a weekend dinner. When ordering a duck course, this is a guide. One whole duck will feed 2-3 people. The duck will be served 3 different ways: pecking duck with pancakes, stir fry ducks with beansprouts, and duck soup. When the duck comes first time, it will be a whole duck (cooked including the head - so be very careful if you invite someone who might be offended). The staff will then carved the meats and placed onto a plate. He will then explain how to wrap the meat with the pancakes. The meat is served with spring onions, cucumber and plum sauce and wrapped with fragrant thin pancakes. The staff will then take away the rest of the ducks and use them to cook stir fry ducks and the soup (so no waste). In my opinion, the stir fry is just okay and soup is better than most duck soup but then again nothing very special. You really want to come here for the duck with pancakes. So do not hold back when eating them. Eat as much as you can of the pancakes ducks because that's the best part. You might want to order rice as well to eat with the stir fry. The only complaint I have about this is that you can't order more pancakes (you can but it will cost you this ridiculous amount of $2 per slice of thin pancakes - yes, per slice!). Other than that, will be coming back just for the pecking duck with pancakes.

Definitely one of the best cheap Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. The owners are Japanese, always very polite, courteous and friendly. The rice dishes are delicious and in fact you can't go wrong with any of the hot food they serve. I absolutely love the oyakodon here (chicken with eggs on top of rice dish - actually it means something like parents and child dish). Anyway, back to the taste, I admit defeat when it comes to their oyakodon. They make better ones than I do (and I am pretty good at cooking according to few sources ^^). If you are nearby and in need of a cheap, heartwarming dish, then you definitely need to check this place out.

This review is for Sushi Monger, Melbourne VIC

If you want to eat sushi rolls (sushi wrapped with seaweed), then this is the best place to eat them in Melbourne city. Cheap, fresh, and delicious. Do not order separate because it will cost you more. Order as a set with miso soup. You can choose 2 rolls with miso soup for $5 or 3 rolls with miso soup for $6.80. If you dig for spicy food, then try the spicy fresh salmon roll. I also love the tempura roll and the fresh salmon roll non spicy version. The miso soup is not that great but hey they come free with the set so no complaint. They always very busy throughout lunch time (sushi is very popular dish here apparently) so expect waiting time of 15 minutes approximately. If you could come early before 12 then you don't need to wait. Don't bother with the hot food. If you want to eat cheap hot cooked Japanese meal nearby, you don't have to go far; Tokio is just right next door and offer better hot food. In fact, I might review Tokio after this one. Back to sushi monger, great place to eat sushi rolls and certainly the best one I could find in Melbourne and very cheap too!! Service is okay, they always busy so don't expect them to pamper you.

This review is for Ling Nam Restaurant, Melbourne VIC

verified email - 17 Dec 2012

Ling Nam is a casual fine dining restaurant that serves Chinese food. It's a great place to come in with a group of friends or family since they serve food for sharing (typical Chinese diner). If you decide to come and dine at Ling Nam, I highly suggest you to order mainly seafood dishes since that's what they are famous for. In fact their XO sauce is the best I found so far in Melbourne and you can't go wrong to choose any seafood with xo sauce. They are famous for pipi with xo sauce (usually ordered with chinese donuts - chinese donuts are not sweet like western donuts). When in season, I love to order scallops with the shells served with XO sauce (again). Crabs with xo sauce with egg noodles are so yummy and recommended. I also love kangkung belachan (water spinach with prawn chilli paste). If you are in mood for fried chicken, they also serve very delicious fried chicken with salt and chilli. I also order boiled really fresh prawns occassionally and they are sweet as is but you can dip it with the sauce they provide (soysauce with fresh chillies). Those were really good. As you can see from my review, it's a great place to eat spicy food but maybe not so good for people who have low tolerance for spicy food because you'll be missing out on all those good food that I recommend. But if you are not afraid of some little chiilies, you must give them a try. By the way, the male waiters here are very friendly and love to crack jokes with you, which is a rare thing to find in Chinese restaurant so that is definitely a plus.

This review is for Jacques Reymond, Prahran VIC

Jacques Reymond is located in a beatiful Victorian mansion alongside many residential houses. You might miss it if you don't pay enough attention. It has a very classy feel to it. A great place to take your date if you want to impress her. The food is a fusion between French and Asian cuisine. I really enjoyed the food there but it's not something that screams WOW and they were not the most delicious food I've ever tried in my life. I guess it's more of the whole experience itself that makes this restaurant top of its class. All the food I've tried were good, the service is beyond excellent (they seemed to know when they were needed and when to disappear), the presentation is superb and the atmosphere is quiet (hint: romantic). If you have money to splurge, it's a place you might want to try to visit. Caution for big eaters: small serving each dish.
